  • Damn, tat's one smart woman. Kudos to you for standing up to the idits on ABS news, ma'am.

  • The state and local government should've responded to the people of New Orleans quicker but being that the governor of LA at the time was Democrat and so the mayor of New Orleans, they didn't help them out because they knew in the end that George Bush would take the blame. So the Democrats basically let people die to make a Republican president look bad!

  • you cant call abc bias when fox exists,,,

  • @aaronrocks87 You only notice Fox News's bias because it's a minority bias in the media. Let me tell you something bud, 100% percent of the media is bias, with 99% of them being liberal bias and Fox News with the 1% conservative bias. Wake up the media has always been bias!

  • Wow this woman hit the nail on the head! Stop blaming Bush already she's right. Governor's have the ability to deploy the National Guard.

  • Not really bias, for he just asked her questions, and if you remember it was "slow," but she was right when she said it was the states job to help them before papa government comes to the rescue. He just asked those questions, for it was believed that people from N.O. were saying those things. So, he did good reporting on what she thought of the government handleing of the situtation.

  • this reporter is indicative of the liberal news media..right there..plain and simple. He was trying to goat her in to blaming Bush and it backfired

  • @sps242 I wonder what reports he gave during the oil spil? That would be an interesting investigation. I'm from New Orleans and lost a whole lot. The mayor, whom I am embarassed to say I voted for on his first term, the govenor, and the Army Corps of Engineers were the ones to point fingers at.

  • I like this LADY>>> SHE ACTUALLY BLAMES THE CORRECT PEOPLE THE STATE GOVERNMENT!!!!! WOW SOMEONE ACTUALLY FROM N.O. WHO GETS IT CORECTLY!

  • That is true but its only partially true. If the City and State government fail to act, who is next in line to assist???

Doesn't matter who is running the country. We as americans should not ever be portrayed as a "third world" country in times of peril! The richest county in the world! There is no excuse for any of it. There are "National Disaster areas" declared by the Pres nearly every year or every other year. Never does it take so long for action.

  • She is my favorite.

  • Your favorite? What is this? Youre selecting what slave youre gonna used or some shit? Yeah, I bet that was your subliminal message you thought nobody would figure out, huh? Well, there are some smart. insane mothafuckas here posting with yas. The State Gov, Fed Gov, Congress, blah....it was all set up to destroy the city and rebuild it from the ground. Now the Saints win the Superbowl, and people think its a blessing or some shit.

Wow, what irony heh? Sports, NWO...all setup...

  • @9revolta I would suggest you go back and read what you posted. It sounds bad on your behalf. You might want to delete it before to many people see it.

  • @LawrenceKennard

Yeah, in my anger I kinda spelled words wrong and didnt use words in the proper way. Wait a minute, you say youre from New Orleans and are ashamed of your Mayor, but that was basically what I was discussing with somebody (cant remember who). So what are you talking about? What was wrong with my post? Go check out my vid "United Snakes: Katrina Conspiracy" and tell me if I should delete my post. Youre talking to a rebel pal...

  • @9revolta Ok, I'll check out your video, but strong language is for weak minds. Can you find a more intelligent way to express yourself than reaching in vocabulary'e gutter?

  • @LawrenceKennard

Youre asking insignificant questions pal, do you think that is important when discussing such a controversial subject like Hurricane Katrina? Fuck no...

  • @9revolta Whatever toilet mouth. I'm done.

  • Report Examines Path to Failed New Orleans Levees -

The levee system that was designed to protect

New Orleans, but failed catastrophically during Hurricane Katrina, was completed under severe financial and political pressure, including opposition from local officials and environmentalists, according to a federally sponsored report set to be released today.

    -Washington Post

  • That project is federaly mandated and president Bush set aside way more money for the levee work than did Bill Clinton! Nobody brings that up! We need all the info from you guys, not slanted, edited agenda driven stories! your becoming an embarrasment to this country!

  • ABC can suck.

  • Here's visible proof and yet people on here still find a way to wheedle around the fact that there is left wing bias.

  • Blown the levee?

  • That lady spoke very intelligently (spelling?) compared to many of the people they put on the t.v. to represent the people of our state...

  • ABC News is a right wing outlet. I am sure this reporter and his team interviewed her and knew exactly what she was going to say. They would not just put someone on air without a pre interview. This right wing outlet wanted her to praise Bush and bash the local govt and that is why they picked her instead of randomly interviewing people. ABC News is biased alright!!! Bunch of Bushies!!!

  • l agree.

    damn bushies...

  • ownage!

  • A HURRICANE turned New Orleans into a ghost town. I would not put one cent into rebuilding in that spot. FOUR years prior to Hurricane Katrina, a program appeared on the Science Channel detailing how inadequate the levees were, and how the coastal wetlands used to diffuse hurricane storm surges before a city was ever built there. Your preference appears to be repeating the same mistake all over again.

  • I'd rather see billion$ spent developing and distributing alternative fuels in the USA so that we can let the Middle East drown in its own blood and oil rather than waste another dollar trying to force Islamic fundamentalist idiots to accept Democracy in Iraq OR in rebuilding New Orleans.

  • Oh New Orleans is going somewhere, all right. It's going underwater the next time a hurricane hits the Louisiana coastline... and anyone stupid enough to rebuild there had better build an ark on stilts. Try getting insurance there NOW without assigned risk.

  • I figured you'd say that America's taxpayers should pay to rebuild the levees. I say America should wise up and stop paying to rebuild a city that lies below sea level on a coastline which is prone to hurricanes. D'oh.

  • Then we'll ruin the birth place of jazz, a place of diverse culture. One of America's number one ports and not to mention a place were people live!

  • Just move all that jazz inland and be glad it won't be underwater next time a hurricane hits. The sea port can be reinforced, and it will weather a hurricane far better than a neighborhood will.

  • It's still not the same. You'd have to be from New Orleans to understand. Unless you are....then your talking nonsense.

  • Of COURSE it's not the same. Inland would be SAFER... that's the WHOLE POINT. The mayor of New Orleans recently admitted that the crime rate there was "abysmal". Between that and the risk of drowning, I have NO interest in being there. I do like jazz, though... and jazz HAS spread to much nicer places than New Orleans.

  • Your ignorant statement was that insurance companies are never forced to insure high risk properties. You were wrong. And my home is in North Central Florida 50 miles from either coast. We lost power during and after Hurricane Jeanne in 2004, and a couple of trees fell on our property, but not near the house. We do not have trees and branches overhanging the house... which is 6" concrete block walls with hurricane straps on the rafters... and it's been here through 18 hurricane seasons.

  • Our property is certainly not swampland, either. It is "live oak hammock" with 300 year old live oak trees... many of which are over 6 feet in diameter at the base and over 75 feet tall. They've been here through about 300 + hurricane seasons. The Ocala area is gorgeous horse country with gently rolling hills, emerald green pasturelands, huge trees and greenery everywhere.

  • The stupidest thing you've ever heard is the sound of your own voice. Yes... homes have been built on stilts. Sometimes that actually preserves the home when hurricane storm surges and 100mph plus winds hit it... but not often. Poor people cannot afford to build levees that work, either... or do you believe that society at large should have to foot the bill in order to enable fools to live below sea level in the historic paths of hurricanes???

  • Speaking of opening your mouth... have you ever heard of "assigned risk"? Many insurance companies fled Florida because some of our state legislators had threatened to enact "assigned risk" and apportion it among the insurance companies doing business in Florida. So because of fools living on the coast in wood frame houses at ground level, the rest of us suffer limited choices of insurance companies now.

  • When you live in tornado alley, you build storm cellars. When you live in wildfire prone areas, you clear the brush out to 50 feet from your house and use fire retardant building materials. When you live in earthquake territory you don't build masonry buildings. And when you live in hurricane territory you don't live on the coastline below sea level... unless you are stupid, like two out of three of the Three Little Pigs (and everyone who is rebuilding in New Orleans below sea level).

  • Oh... it's MUCH smarter to build only 5 feet below sea level, huh? I just researched the topic online and found the info: "New Orleans averages 6 feet below sea level". The word "average" implies the presence of some areas MORE than 6 feet below sea level. I REPEAT: building a city below sea-level in a hurricane-prone coastal area is IDIOTIC, and no insurance company should ever be forced to insure such areas. The rest of us end up paying for it indirectly.

  • Yeah that woman has a good point. The local authorities are the ones who are supposed to be fastest and most prepared. Of course, all levels of government share blame though, but there's more than enough blame to spread around.

  • Even though I do, personally, think that Bush didn't act responsibly when Katrina happened, I did think that this reporter was very (and obviously) bias.

  • And furthermore, ERRUNUS is a typical racial moron. Who in this day and age doesnt know that the Local, and State Governments should be first to respond to ALL EMERGENCY issues. I didnt see the MILITARY invading NYC after 9/11, the first to respond where the locality and state.

  • The Local, State, Federal Government, and those affected must share blame. The Local and State Government had knowledge of all the dangers, and did little about it. The Federal Government reacted slowly in the matter. And, the many families that remained behind should have had better planning to facilitate evacuation of New Orleans. All played parts in the devastion which resulted in the lost of many lives.

  • The REAL IDIOTS are the people who built a city several hundred feet below sea level in a hurricane prone area, and then depended upon levies to protect it. Durr hurr hurr. Now MORE idiots are wasting money rebuilding it.

  • perfect example of a first grade drop out

  • As usual, a Liberal thought an African-American was ignorant and easily molded to be used as a tool. Wrong! Who would have thought she would have her own thoughts and feelings! Liberals are so blatantly racist it's disgusting.

  • If this weren't live, it would've never been aired. Great clip.

  • ture dat.

  • You idiots..here on Long Island our local authorities always respond in Emergencies..all politics and tributaries thereof are local..in fact, as one gets older, one realises that responsibility inexplicately gets closer to oneself..plan ahead.

  • that woman is kind of dumb...she said that the local goverment should've responded prior to the federal goverment. Has anyone ever heard of a "local-government emergency managment agency?"

  • yes, you fucking idiot, every state has one, you fucking idiot.

  • yeah, call the fire-station and police department -- a HURRICANE is comming. Wow you're dumb. Do you really think the fire-station is at fault for the flooding? Only FEMA is capable and responsible for responding to emergencies like this. the local authorities "you fucking idiot" don't (can't) handle those tasks, "you fucking idiot."

  • Oh really? Was it the federal gov's fault that the levies weren't fixed, you ignorant jackass?

  • call the fire-department! a hurricane is coming!

  • guys Bush should have got ready to send FEMA. But, instead despite everyone saying that the levees were going to break, Bush said "No one could have expected the levees to break". Bush is our Nation's worst president. And this is a testimony from ONE person. Don't sterotype a group of people because of one person's testimony.

  • The Governor needs to call for FEMA part of the wonderful bureacracy the the DEMONRATS have created - Gov Blanco and Mayor Nagin both 'Rats thought they could handle it and called too late

  • She said what she said what she thought. Amazing. Nice fishing for an answer reporter. Nice post phillyphoenix

  • I was one of the lucy ones. My house wasn't totally distroied but I couldn't live their for over 10 months. People tend to forget, the government, this country is run by PEOPLE. Humans, NOT Gods, humans beings. So I understand I have to be patient. This mess can't be fixed over night. I'm doing my part to help bring back my city and the gov. n' everone else is doing what they can to the best of their ability.

  • If Nagin had "done what he could to the best of his abiltiy," where were the buses the woman spoke of that could have evacuated the 9th ward? Oh yeah. PARKED.

I love this woman. She has a solid head on her shoulders, and a firm grasp of the TRUE situation.

  • Yeah the bus thing was bad but it was a legal situation. The Mayor couldn't even order a manditory evac earlier cause of some stupid legal thing. I like that lady too.

  • So they went and found one person who agreed with the President and that makes it alright?

  • Silly, it was their misfortune that they found someone "who agreed with the president" (whatever that means). What makes this snippet "all right" is the fact that their state government completely failed and this citizen acknowledged it, first and foremost.

  • A good, honest and decent upstanding citizen with a backbone. So much for the spineless reporter.

  • Your welcome. From Texas.
