I work in elementary education. We have so many demands for testing that teachers must resort to "teaching to the test." There's no time for things that keep kids interested: vocational ed, music, arts and sports are being cut to make room for all this testing, and funding is constantly being decreased, teachers threatened with their jobs.
So: how do we turn out well-educated, well-rounded kids when all that the federal government cares about is whether the kids can fill out a bubble sheet?
You might want to consider voting for a candidate who would get the feds out of the schools. Schools should be a local issue, not something the federal govt. dictates. Try a candidate who respects the constitution.
If you examine the issues, I think you'll find your average Socialist (you) to be much more arrogant and condescending than your average Libertarian (me). No, I was a juvenile delinquent with a poor HS academic record, dropped out, finished later, took 2 more years off, went to comm college, transfered to the college of my choice without a hitch, even though I had 2 backup plans. finish with a 3.83/4 gpa.

how is not providing then the financial capital to exsist not count as socialism. in capitalism banks that make bad loans go out of business and other banks that didnt make bad loans takeover, creating a stronger economy. but no instead of the market taking care of bad business, the treasury comes and bails them out. they are using taxpayer money to support a company, ie socialism, u stupid twat. hows that for education you idiot.

The video seemed perfectly ordinary and without special merit. It does accomplish what it intends to do however.
For the most part, the comments are uninformed, needlessly sarcastic and terribly immature. And the only thing they accomplish is to cause people like me, (middle aged, well educated, analytical, well compensated and absorbed if not compelled by American politics) to avoid the Digg website.
It's a fundamentally good idea ruined by its readers and commentators.

Listen, I hate to tell you your business, but your comment was incredibly arrogant. By describing yourself as a "middle aged, well educated, analytical, well compensated and absorbed if not compelled by American politics" you pretty much wrote the subtext of, "that means I'm smarter/better than you".

I work in elementary education. We have so many demands for testing that teachers must resort to "teaching to the test." There's no time for things that keep kids interested: vocational ed, music, arts and sports are being cut to make room for all this testing, and funding is constantly being decreased, teachers threatened with their jobs.
So: how do we turn out well-educated, well-rounded kids when all that the federal government cares about is whether the kids can fill out a bubble sheet?

You might want to consider voting for a candidate who would get the feds out of the schools. Schools should be a local issue, not something the federal govt. dictates. Try a candidate who respects the constitution.

If you examine the issues, I think you'll find your average Socialist (you) to be much more arrogant and condescending than your average Libertarian (me). You see, Libertarians want freedom and want people to run their own lives. Socialists, on the other hand, believe they know what is best for people and want to get everyone to conform to their way of thinking.
