@HarrisonDG It's also designed for people who give a little thought towards climate control in a multi storied home. Have one of these instead of a stairwell that's basically a chimney for your heat to go to the top floor and it'll be making up for itself in the warmer months. Also, like others have said the largest model they have is almost 5 feet in diameter, which easily fits a wheel chair.

@kermit30au If you managed to get yourself stuck in one of these I think you probably need suffocating. Just push the door open and you won't be gasping for air any longer.

@kermit30au I wonder if you thought about how Han Solo felt being imprisoned in carbonite. When the elevator loses power it returns to the bottom floor. I'm hoping that these guys didn't take their engineering ideas from the Ford Pinto.

For what you're talking about to happen it looks like someone would need to go out of their way to sabotage the elevator. It would certainly make for a fun lawsuit though. Grandma entombed in a tube.

Actually, there are larger models that fit a wheelchair. You can see them on the company's website. I can't speak to how easy it is to open the door and get in via chair, but they do have tubes that fit them.

I want this installed in my house. When I am older and creaky in the legs and knees, I'll be able to use my upstairs and basement when I can't get up or down the stairs anymore. Love this! Gonna tell all my older friends. New housing should include these.

the main disadvantages are that they can only hold one person, can't fit a wheelchair in it, and probably will freak out claustrophobics in a way that has never been done before.

Yepp, I made the correction yesterday. The first website that comes on for this type of elevator does not work anymore. I suppose that can only be good for you, as it is less competition. Thanks for the video, at any rate it is a very interesting product. Stuff that dreams are made of for many people of us that could never afford it due to limited income.

That is very interesting indeed. A pneumatic elevator, which uses less energy than traction elevators, and uses no lubricants than hydraulic elevators. Very modernistic indeed.
