@HarrisonDG It's also designed for people who give a little thought towards climate control in a multi storied home. Have one of these instead of a stairwell that's basically a chimney for your heat to go to the top floor and it'll be making up for itself in the warmer months. Also, like others have said the largest model they have is almost 5 feet in diameter, which easily fits a wheel chair.
I saw these things before. They seem nice but I wonder if your home alone and if you got stuck inside for long periods would you suffocate inside this thing as it needs to be sealed to work?
@kermit30au If you managed to get yourself stuck in one of these I think you probably need suffocating. Just push the door open and you won't be gasping for air any longer.
@greenteagod if you got stuck at the top or bottom you could open the door... I mean half way in the tube. If you where stuck between foors would you be able to lower yourself slowly so you could reach a door and exit safely?
@greenteagod if you got stuck at the top or bottom you could open the door... I mean half way in the tube. If you where stuck between foors would you be able to lower yourself slowly so you could reach a door and exit safely?
Also its a general inquiry...no need to be sarcastic....I wonder if you thought about being stuck halfway in a polycarbonate tube with no air and no excape??
@kermit30au I wonder if you thought about how Han Solo felt being imprisoned in carbonite. When the elevator loses power it returns to the bottom floor. I'm hoping that these guys didn't take their engineering ideas from the Ford Pinto.
For what you're talking about to happen it looks like someone would need to go out of their way to sabotage the elevator. It would certainly make for a fun lawsuit though. Grandma entombed in a tube.
Actually, there are larger models that fit a wheelchair. You can see them on the company's website. I can't speak to how easy it is to open the door and get in via chair, but they do have tubes that fit them.
I want this installed in my house. When I am older and creaky in the legs and knees, I'll be able to use my upstairs and basement when I can't get up or down the stairs anymore. Love this! Gonna tell all my older friends. New housing should include these.
the main disadvantages are that they can only hold one person, can't fit a wheelchair in it, and probably will freak out claustrophobics in a way that has never been done before.
actually the web address does work. The one i tried from the search engine was different, and said the site was not found. This one does work however. Just to correct my previous statement.
Yepp, I made the correction yesterday. The first website that comes on for this type of elevator does not work anymore. I suppose that can only be good for you, as it is less competition. Thanks for the video, at any rate it is a very interesting product. Stuff that dreams are made of for many people of us that could never afford it due to limited income.
link to the website seems dead now. Maybe they went out of business. Too bad that seemed like a good product. Maybe it was just too expensive, and they didn't sold enough.
That is very interesting indeed. A pneumatic elevator, which uses less energy than traction elevators, and uses no lubricants than hydraulic elevators. Very modernistic indeed.

Will it add value to your home?
Will it replace the dang old staircase that handicapped people hate?
