NO-ONE needs this guy's idiocy ever again nor for the future. He's just another fool that justifies useless money & gov't while blaming corporations, banks & military. Yet again, another egghead that can't even see the stupidity he represents & doesn't understand the global efforts of the last 100-yrs to blame or even see the Communist Dictator Owners of everything he only now despises. He's just a do nothing debater that will also enslave the people unequally to patch failed total BS systems.
Those holding out for a utopia are more and more numerous. I think this worries mr. Hedges for good reason, because such people are very dangerous indeed. Another quote from him, which is hard to argue against: "utopianism turned into violence has killed more than any other driving force in history". The superreason of nazis or soviet marxists is just that, and it is seen in more and more aspects of society.
That being said, he also suffer under some kind of "Célineian" post-war perspective.
I think Hedges may suffer from depression. His outlook is so overpoweringly negative. Yes America is a deeply unequal society with a plethora of problems. That said, there is a lot to be thankful for here. More balance please.
That our ruling class will literally do anything to anyone to hold onto power?
how about the patriot act?
enemy belligerent act?
the one thing iam glad we have....is the world reserve currency...it is an unjust, unfair advantage,,,,but hey... i live a lot easier at the expense of others around the world... whoopy..
@WeAreChangeVictoria I think the problem with liberals is we tend to focus on all the negatives in the world. Look at America today versus American in 1850 or 1900. We have made enormous progress. The world will never be a utopia and anyone holding out for one will be sorely disappointed. I agree with your comments but I just think we need to have some perspective.
