  • 1p and this is better

  • Does anyone else think Labrie sounds like Terrence and Philip?

  • damn i can't believe it this was 6 years ago!

  • Best thing about this video is LaBrie's dance starting 0:43...I'm going to learn it and do it at the concert next week...

  • @irena7777777 yeah, I love how labrie dances/headbangs the intro, its so weird but awesome xD

  • @protonelexe He is THE FUCKIN' MAN!!!!

  • how can anyone that isnt deaf not love this band??

  • Portnoy is one hell of a talented drummer!!!

  • when is this?

  • @covermaiden This is from the DVD Score, where Dream Theater played to a sold out Radio City Music Hall for the final show of their Octavarium world tour. Released in 2006

  • CHECK OUT PORTNOY FROM 4:26

  • Wtf O_o After watching this I can say that I will never understand LaBrie haters. Just perfect.

  • @NdannsN in this video his voice is fuking amazing !

  • John Myung is legend

  • I don't care what the haters say, James LaBrie is one of the greatest singers ever.

  • @goblin2055 He's in good form on this video, I didn't know he still had it in him.

  • WHAT A VOICE!

  • who can dislike this man, for real are you serious man? you deserve to be shoot in the leg at least, hahaha

  • 2 people.. oh wait, I'm not a tool. Instead, I'll actually comment about the freakin' video: This performance is amazing!

  • Fantástico!!!!

  • From which DVD or live album is this version?

  • fucking great !!

  • Bass YES!

  • 2 people like boyband

  • @jakeNg0001

one person is a fuckin crybaby who gets too butt hurt about people disliking something.

  • 2 people are deaf.

  • JAMES IS FUCKIN' AWESOME

  • 4:08 My fev section of all time.

  • 2 pessoas não gostam de música boa

  • I was just thinking about a Dream Theater member who sucks, but I realize that ever fucking member is a fucking genius... Even Mangini!

  • This is one of Labrie's best performances of this song! I was starting to think he couldn't sing this amazing song anymore! I'm gladly proved wrong!

  • You're both mental...Ruddess and Moore are both incredible musicians, with unique aspects contributing to DTs overall sound...Now shut up and quit licking each others balls!

  • John Myung's tone during this concert was just all kinds of epic!

  • rudess needs to be down in the mix at the beginning. God I miss Kevin Moore.

  • @krelbar Lol why? Kevin Moore licks Jordan Rudess' balls for breakfast.

  • @Dolf9271986 Technique-wise yes. But music is more than techniqe. Kevin is still a great keyboardist and has a much better feel, especially with Dream Theater. Rudess licks his balls in this department.

  • @krelbar ...and he would have the good sense not to overshadow Petrucci's intro to the song like Rudess does here.

  • Just phenomenal. This is truly a testament to the skill and musical genius that is Dream Theater. It's too bad Portnoy split, but when they were together, it was something to behold. John Petrucci FTW!

  • 4:12-4:40 Mike Portnoy at his best! The man is a god.

  • Man this version is awesome. I just cannot withstand LaBrie's vocals. Perhaps the problem is with me, since the guy has a lot of technique and musical formation, but I simply think his tone and vocalisation are awful, I mean, that makes him a great singer, technically, but he is definitely not pleasant to my ears, at all.

Ok, and now you can start shooting me.

  • @andretribuzymetal I can understand where you're coming from though. There are a lot of good singers I think are horrid and there are a lot of bad singers I think are great. I don't think technical skill and lots of training means they're going to be appreciable to your ears, Despite having no guitar lessons and being unable to read sheet music, Lindsey Buckingham is one of my favorite musicians, period.

  • This makes me miss JP's Ibanez

  • LaBrie was just on fire that night!

  • @DerekFlores120 i know right?! fantastic vocal performance.

  • My computer makes the screen all pixelated if i fullscreen it...i dont think it can handle this god coming through :/

  • 1:27 - 1:31 is that something wrong??

  • This song from 4:12 to 4:40 is simply fantastic!! The entire song is a masterpiece!!

  • tongue out of the mouth, so cool !

  • This is my favorite DT song. F'n bad ass!

  • 5:14 all the fuckin' people hypnotized by the fantastic Petrucci guitar solo!!

  • mix is off, but labrie sounds god like :D

  • This is the first time I witnessed Myung being louder than every1 else in the band.

  • GOD OF PROGRESS !

  • I don't understand... why was James so fucking good at that performance (his high notes were there, he had good vowel formation, and was in tune all the time), and yet in all other cases in the last several years, his live performance has been less than amazing? BTW, what most people hear when he hits those notes that really squack at you and make you cringe is usually a combination of bad tuning and very poor vowel placement that results in him trying to reach notes now too high for his voice.

  • @PreyingMantisMan Well he certainly has his share of problems live nowadays. But I remember him being totally awesome throughout the entire Octavarium World Tour (which this is from").

  • does Portnoy have a mirror to look at himself?

  • @myownschadenfreude for the cameras. not to sure how they work but no haha not to look at hiimself.

  • funny singer :)

  • James LaBrie's voice is top notch in this one!

  • God damn, Mike is KILLING it in this one!

  • 5:58 that's what I'm talking about :P

  • 4:50 <3

  • down to hear what the have in store with MM. Looking forward to the new CD,

  • fuckin chills man

  • 6:05 " Nice keyboard solo..... OMG WTF they are doing?"

  • Images & Words + Awake = Magic.

  • @bobkat321 I don't think anything after those albums is as good...definitely my 2 DT faves.

  • John Petrucci "arruma" o cabo enquanto toca ao mesmo tempo xD --> 1:53

  • from 4:20 to 4:36 Portnoy is so musical

  • Mike Portnoy - How does he do it?!

  • dream theater is filled to the brim with amazingly talented musicians, but the vocalist is sooo horrible :( completly ruins the band

  • @IGotTheMunchiesDude it's just your opinion though

  • @bunnyannihilator89 I agree =)

  • @bunnyannihilator89 ofcourse, but don't you agree that the melodies on the vocals are totally cliche? I'm not saying he's not a very talented singer, which ofcourse, he is, but his voice just strikes me as kind of.. silly.. IMO ;P

  • @IGotTheMunchiesDude but you can't deny he is much better now, listen to their latest releases

  • one guy is above the glass moon

  • anyone feel that labries vibrato is a bit too forced? i mean it used to come so naturally, nowadays its too strong the vibrtao

  • best version ever

  • really. james is such a good singer. offcourse he drops some notes when they play live but i think there arent that much singers who can perform that way live (accept maybe fot queensryche, but thats much easier to sing annyway:P)

  • @queenguy1 Check out Russel Allen from Symphony X. Not so muck live footage probably have to listen to there live cd to get a real indication. He sings everything and i mean everything completely spot on, and his parts are atleast as complex as DT (and i mean early DT) if not more so.

  • @cabijista1 i saw symphony X live and although i agree that his singing is really complecated to, its not to compare with james because in symhony x you dont get a lot of that high notes that DT has

  • buy a pen! well im a wannnkker 3:28

  • Dream theatre disliked this!

  • poor James, seems to be struggling..

  • hahaha look at james at 2:48

  • At 6:12 Petrucci is playing guitar and bass :O

  • Mike Portnoy isn't on drums anymore :'(

  • its so depressing that they all look so old now, but myung still looks the same. damn asian genes.

  • @darethas there is no close view on myung, though... he somehow looks like he wants to stay in the background... in my opinion..

  • Maybe JP will be the new drummer, he will Play drums while play guitar with the feet

  • Thumbs Up If you tried counting number of strings in Myung's Bass Guitar !

  • how come the quality both of video and audio are so poor when this is from score ??

  • @Cwoka94 YouTube codec.

  • 3:28 portnoy is a monster

  • any news about there new drummer?

  • @6digit I'm sure DT will announce him when they feel the time is right...

  • Jordan Rudess is amazing

  • fantastic vocals

  • OMG! Petrucci playing John Myung's bass and his own guitar at the same time!!! @6:11

  • ah this IS from the "Score" performance. YAY!!!

  • ass layer 123!

  • that 1 dislike was from the only woman who was in the building that night rofl

  • who is the guitar player? he's not bad

  • @oKrBw He's called "John Petrucci". I would feel "not bad" is an understatement. =D Enjoy his other work.

  • @oKrBw your joking

  • @oKrBw kill yourself..

  • the 1st person who dislike this video is the REAL justin bieber EVERBODY KILL HIM

  • ernie ball sound crap bring back the ibanez anyday...

  • drumming from 4:20 - 4:40 is just insane!

  • there's so many better drummer than Mike but i don't want to expect that their music getting more better without Mike!

  • John Petrucci Solos are TOTALLY BEAST!!! Sickest Metal Guitarist of ALL TIME!!!!!!!!

  • portnoy a monste!!!!r so terrifyinmg...-.-

  • I just watched this one, and the old one. Everybody except for Myung put on weight since then.

  • James sounds better here than he did in the older video! I guess his voice is healed in this one...

  • These guy are real artist real musicians i would laugh at anyone that tries comparing someone like justin bieber or even god forbid the horride Kurt Cobain with James...

  • IMO, this song contains one of Petrucci's best, if not the greatest, solo he's ever done. It's has just about everything you could incorportate in it: Harmonics, Fast Runs, Sweeps, tapping, expressional string bending, whammy bar tricks.... it's just beyond perfect.

  • @DaUsualSuspact It's a great solo to learn if you want to get better! :D

  • How can thay ever replace Mike?

  • there's so many great drummer's who are more skilled and talented than Portnoy, maybe thanks to him because he shared all his idea to everyone but i'm still believed this band can still stand alone without him but when Petrucci leaves the band the time is over Dream Theater will no longer active on stage!

  • Score. Probably their best live performance of UAGM!

  • James has stll fuckin got it!

  • Whoever mixed this deserves to be shot!!!

  • @ZachValkyrie How come? The only things I know anything about mixing are drums, so I can't really tell what is specifically wrong with this mix. Upon critical listening it sounds like the guitar needs to be more prominent in the mix (particularly during the solo) and I think it doesn't sit well in the mix with the bass guitar. I also think the snare needs more "pop" and less crack" and the kicks need more beater click for clarity on the double bass parts. Is this what's wrong or is there more?

  • @GamingDrummer89 you just about hit the nail on the head there.

  • @ZachValkyrie YAY! lol :D

I also didn't have enough room to say this in my last post, so I'll say it here. Since I have a decent idea of mixing drums for the most part I have to add in that besides needing more beater click, the 22" kicks here need a tad less low end because if you listen to just the drum mix on the DVD, they distort somewhat. Also, the big bass (26"?) needs more lows, and the 18" floor tom has almost as much low end as the 22" kicks so that might need a hair of reduction.

  • @GamingDrummer89 Almost forgot....to hear the 18" floor tom and the giant kick drum you'll need to listen to "The root of all evil" on this DVD. And that 18" floor tom looks like it has an Audix D6 on it.

  • @GamingDrummer89 Would you be willing to mix a demo for me?

  • @ZachValkyrie Lol, I can only mix drums well. I've done live mixing at church before and even though I can listen and say what needs to be turned up and down and what needs more lows or mids or highs, I'm not proficient at actually mixing anything except drums. Most of my experience mixing drums is in church (in other words, live). If you put the demo up here on youtube, I can give pretty good advice on drums, but guitars and everything else I can't do that well, haha.

  • @ZachValkyrie Just check around on the internet for guitar stuff (specifically here on youtube because there is bound to be plenty of stuff on here). Even before I hear a demo, however, I can tell you about frequencies and such and what they do to drums and you might even be able to go off of that for yourself. I'll send you a private message with that info because it would take more than 10 comment posts to fit all the info in, lol.

  • @GamingDrummer89 Meh, every little bit helps. I'll let you know if anything comes up.

  • @ZachValkyrie I agree

  • @ZachValkyrie yeah, the bass doesnt have to be hear

  • epic

  • It's nice to hear James fully back from the throat problems. He's just completely on point here. There are some versions of this song running around on Y/T from around 96 where he's not even on pitch, never mind delivering properly....

  • 4:24 - 4:35 wow, he is just oozing with awesomeness!

Bet he could smash a drumkit to pieces if he where to be fully, "unleashed" on it!

  • Comment removed

  • What the Fuck!? I could barely hear his solo! Fuck

  • I hate the youtube audio. It's never balanced >:o

  • but sometimes Labrie's vocal performance is not good unlike here which so very wild to listen especially in Budokan 2004!!

  • what the correct playing.

  • \m/ DT ROCKS!

  • shit Jordan Rudess got some true talent and skill!

  • Perfect performance.

  • spot-on

  • And they say LaBrie can't sing anymore? PAH! I spit on those people...

  • @gnryeah Indeed, Labrie FTW!!

  • does any knows which concert is this?

  • @hectorflamebo It's Score!!

  • he solo rules the song

  • why the hell does portnot have a mirror in front of him???? haha hes the man

  • **portnoy my bad

  • Which DVD was this from? I may have it but It's a while I saw it.

Hey check out my profile! The video "Did DT Steal?"

  • lol during the solo jp slaps the wammy bar like a pimp slaps a ho.

  • His guitar is his hoe.

  • Its so depressing to know that there will never be another Images and Words type of album.

its a classic that never gets old.

  • @Mathikins If it never gets old then how is that depressing? (kidding)

  • @Mathikins Isn't it also depressing that there might never be another album with Mike Portnoy?

  • @TheXakhil Yeah that's pretty depressing to but oh well. lol

  • @TheXakhil nope since mangini is in...give him a chance

  • Wow. False.

  • LOL just no.

  • Yeah, this is not 1992. It's from the Score DVD which was released 2006.

  • i did some research and fixed description a bit.

  • and it's not kevmo on keyboards

  • Pretty sure this isnt 1992.

  • what?
