I love all the stupid kids that think they can break the record. A 21 in a 50 meter freestyle longcourse is blazin fast. I swim at high school and year-round and my time is a 23.54 and our school record is a 20.32 but this is short course times. The kid That holds the record at our school made olympic trails (longcourse) but placed (with a best time) about 83rd(ish). They take top 2 in the USA, he was way off and still had a great swim. So trust me, a 27 or 29 is nowhere near the speed of the

short course is 25 yards. thats the length of the pool that high school teams in the US swim in. the olympics and world championships etc all use 50 meter pools (about 2.17 times longer than a short course pool)...50 meters is about 13 feet longer than 50 yards. therefore making your high school's record of 21.3 about the equivalent of 24.0 for this length of pool which is still fast..but not near the WR

I started as a freshman in highschool at 14, swimming a 26.0, sophomore year i went a 24.2, junior year i went a 23.1 and senior year after lifting, training, tapering, and a fastskin a 21.2. Here's a hint for all you sprinters working on the 50, Weight room more than the pool, and practice with fins on so your body is used to moving faster and your turns are consistent with race pace.

from what ive seen, yard to meter conversion is about 3 secs. so your 25 would be 28 secs in 50m, 27 would be 30 secs.

Yeah it makes a big difference, if you averaged that 21 seconds over the 50 yards, it would take about 23 to go a 50 meter pool, not to mention, this pool is straight 50 meters, while the pool you probably compete in is only 25 yards, so you get a flipturn, which makes a whole bunch of difference lol, it's like a whole different race, not to diss your teammate, 21.0 is amazing.
