James has always been the LEAD singer for Metallica, even when Mustaine was in there, Mustaine was just a beast back up singer and an even beastlier lead guitarist lol, and he was kicked out because he got in an argument with James Hetfield because James kicked Dave's dog when James was drunk. and Metallica didnt try to take Dave's songs, every song Dave had anything to do with, he got credit for, he's even getting credit for coming up with parts of Lepper Mesiah which is like 7 years later :P

@damenlynn Obviously you don't know your history too well. They were technically together when Metallica first stated, Dave Mustaine was the original singer of Metallica. Though that was back in '81. He was kicked out of the band less than 2 years later due to his drug and sex addictions. Metallica wasn't epic enough to handle him then, technically the still aren't. Then they pulled the douche move of redoing all the recordings that he sang for and tried stealing credit for the songs he wrote.
