Great performance. Great sonata to. Honestly I am enough playing Haydn's and Mozart's sonates(don't mean they are not great, but I have playing their sonates whole life), so I would probably ask my professor to give me this one. Grieg rules. So do the girl(women) who just played it. Thank you for opening my eyes. Cheers!
I, for one, like your tempo. For me, it's "in the ball park" of a tempo that I would choose, not precisely, but very acceptable and close (I'm also a professional pianist).
I think it's an interesting topic of discussion, however. How DOES one go about interpreting Allegro Moderato?? There isn't a metronomic marking in the score. So, Is the word Moderato a modifier to an otherwise Allegro tempo? Or is the word Allegro an energetic descriptor to an otherwise Moderato tempo? Hmmm???
I am a professional musician and pianist, as a matter of fact I am playing this piece in concert on Saturday. I was so please to hear another pianist play this at the proper tempo Bravo! Even with the mistakes, you stilled played with great feeling and you bring out the melodies so well. I am so sick and tired of hearing this piece at lightning speed,. Your performance would have made Grieg proud I am sure.
Very good tempo, only performance I've heard of this besides Gould's that doesn't feel rushed and meshed. People must have amnesia for "moderato" in addition to allegro.
I want to learn this, is there any free sheet music out there for this? (online)
No, you are inaccurate. Grieg wrote "Allegro Moderato", NOT "Allegro"...therefore, my tempo is accurate...it's not a virtuosic interpretation, it's what the composer wrote.
@jordanryda7 no its not. piano playing is not a sports competition, it is is about musicality, feelings, drawing a usical picture. his picture here was painted with a few scrappy strokes, but it is still a beautiful picture.

Tempo is perfect. To me most others are too fast and Gould's is too slow. Bravo!!

Fantastic performance! The tempo for me is spot on - it doesn't want to be any quicker than this. Brilliant!

No, it's not. It can be played lighter or even slower. This time is, perhaps, slightly slower than what I'd choose, but definitely not too slow
