I hate attack ads just let the people vote for who they want. It's not the party leader who controls Canada it's us we have the right to choose who is in charge of all the laws so please don't let something stupid influence vote for who you want be happy other people cant vote they just have dictator and if they speak against the dictator they die. So yea thats all I have to say......... PEACE!! :)
Fascism is as gentle as denying a comment on a youtube video. Or as violent as dealing with protesters at the G20 in Toronto. Or in the case of Net Neutrality, Corporations like Bell Canada, Rogers, Shaw, Videotron, even small Co-op telcos operations like Quadro Communications in Kirkton Ontario can fool around with reality to suit there Corporate purpose. We really need to address the problem of Corporate Fascism in Canada. To do this we MUST HAVE Proportional Representation.
All of you idiots claiming to vote for one party over the next, wake the fuck up. You guys are thick headed morons. All the parties are bullshit, made to make you think that you actually have a choice. Tell me, where is the party that will bring the cost of living down? Where is the party that will cut taxes? Where is the party that will vote in a new system of government and get rid of the useless royalty, and figure heads? Where is the party that will bring more employment?
Attack ads have been around forever, some people like them, others don't. However, when used appropriately they are effective at getting the point across. This video is of horrible quality and basically pointless.
@FosterAnimation Actually, since the lie-berals never deny the issues raised in these ads, I am finding more and more Canadians refer to them as "fact ads".
I have never stated that other political parties have not run attack adds. I am commenting on two things, one that there should not be any attack adds in general before an election (I wish there was no attack adds ever as it defeats the point of politics), and two the Conservative attack adds are taking things completely out of context.
@FosterAnimation Don't forget that 'attack ads' are double edged swords, they probably hurt the purveyor more than the intended target by making them seem petty and trivial. I don't know what kind of moron would be influenced by a political ad anyway.
Of course, the Liberals have never used attack ads, or language. What nonsense. Attack ads and their language are about is ideologically deep as Canadian Liberals ever get.
@RnBramwell I never seen blaitant Liberal Party ads made outside of election time. Most especially, I would not have imagined Chretien playing such ads during the Canadian coverage of a Super Bowl Game, like the Conservatives did last January. How much did these champs of the ever-suffering taxpayer pay for that luxury? It's not just an assault on Ignatieff and the Liberals, it's an assault on the voter and on democracy.
@Libertyjack1 The Liberals were posturing for an election, & the Conservatives apparently planned to come out fighting. Spendthrift-Sponsorship-"a proof is a proof is a proof" Chretien is no standard . The worst attack ads began with the Liberals anyway, ~30 yrs ago. They lowered the bar &, typically, complain when it's done to them. There is no party in Canada that is championing for the taxpayer. If voters were smart the NDP & Iggy fans would not exist. Liberty & Liberal are opposites.
@RnBramwell Liberal attack ads 30 years ago? They brought down Joe Clark's government on a no confidence vote over an unpopular budget, under the slogan, "This is the time to vote Liberal." How is that an attack ad? Mind you, Clark was treated meanly by many people, some of them were members of his own Progressive Conservative Party, who labelled him 'Joe Who?'. I remember no attack ads on Joes character though, similar to the ones now, or those used against Jean Chretien back in '93.
Then, prov'l attack ads began, but I admit lack of concrete proof for federal. Whether an ad is 'attack' lies in what opposite sides see as truth -'attack' becomes a matter of angry perspective. I support no party; neither are politically rational, Libs are worse, the NDP insane. Voters' choices & arguments parallel that appraisal. Trudeau brought Clark down on energy policies, then implemented same policy with diff't name - stupid voters.
Politically, small 'l' Liberal used to mean "let the people decide their own lives". That notion has been inverted by big 'L' Liberals. Now Conservatives AND Liberals want to run lives, & politics is a turf war for that power —power of economic intervention & the redistribution of wealth - robbing Peter to pay Paul - socialism. Academia promotes it but should no better. It is abject dishonesty & hatred of producers, Jon Stewart and John Clark style.
Lame.
