  • @Madmax1945XXX Yes, but you Russians -- and the Chinese too -- become VERY aggressive and warlike under communism. Remember all those countries you enslaved like Poland, East Germany, central Europe, and the Baltic nations?

But of course it's SICK the amoral, unprincipled, unwise, hateful way America supports half the dictatorships in the world. This is the evil of the right-wing conservatives and left-wing progressives. I'm an UP-winger i.e. a libertarian and a laissez-faire capitalist!

  • What do u expect? US is afraid of Russia Simply put USA is Russia's bitch!

Sea based my Ass! what sea based destroyers? submarines? LOL yeah right!

  • Vladimirstanislav: Are you a Russian nationalist? Are Russians better than anybody else, in your view? Do you want Russia to conquer and enslave Ukraine, Kazakhstan, the Baltics, Alaska, etc.? Do you want a war with America -- and do you really think you can win it?

  • No Russia cant win a war over America nor America can win a war over Russia. Its all about balance of power USA is trying to control the world they wage war on Iraq using false pretense that Iraq posses weapons of mass distraction now they are using the same strategy in Poland missile shield well too bad for them Russian leaders are not as dumb as they think...Poland missiles as defense for Iranian strike? what the fuck is that?

  • Ahh we have been betrayed!!!!!Obama sold us out!!17IX2009 was 70 aniversry of CCCP invasion of Poland scuh a fittimng date for knife in the back!!!

  • Kharmazov -- Yeah, I noticed that. What terrible symbolism! :-(

Long live independent, free, capitalist, liberal Poland!!!

  • Nah really I was goofing around;-)When it comes to Americans I am hanging out with you guys not necons;-)

  • Kharmazov -- Good to hear! Neo-cons are NOT good advocates of individual liberty and libertarianism.

  • Where was the Tea Party movement when the tax burden was shifted from the high end to the middle? Where were the patriots when Wall Street's minions rewrote securities laws so that the wonder boys of Lehman and A.I.G. could reduce home mortgages to poker chips?

Where were the angry stiffs when the last Congress rewrote bankruptcy law, making it easier to keep people in permanent credit card hock? Health problems cause most bankruptcies, so Now, these braindead morons riot against healthcare.

  • "Where was the Tea Party movement when the tax burden was shifted from the high end to the middle?"

-Yar, we be questioning why we need taxes anyway.

"when Wall Street's minions rewrote securities laws so that the wonder boys of Lehman and A.I.G. could reduce home mortgages to poker chips?"

-We be pointing out that this be why regulation fails.

  • PirateEconomist -- Avast, ye matey! ;-) You're pretty darn good!

  • "Where were the angry stiffs when the last Congress rewrote bankruptcy law, making it easier to keep people in permanent credit card hock?"

-Our economists be sayin that it would only lead to a recession.

"Health problems cause most bankruptcies, so Now, these braindead morons riot against healthcare. "

-No, we be against your direction of reform. We want reform in the other direction.

The Tea Party movement has always been there, under other names, it's just never been this big before.

  • Oh, the Tea Party movement is in the direction the Big Insurance Companies misdirect their dead brains to go. I fought insurers for years on behalf of their victims. You may think you're insured, but you'll find you aren't when you get sick. And where was the Tea Party when we prosecuted a tax-expensive multibillion dollar war on the wrong nation (Saudi Arabia sent the terrorists)? They only wake up when their corporate masters fool them into fighting against their own stupid interests.

  • No, the tea partiers were out protestin the war while yer own Republicans and Democrats were out clammorin fer a fight!

This movement not be the result of conservative tendancies, it be a movement of Libertarianism, Classical Liberalism, a theory that is much free-er then yer system'll ever get ye!

Look, ye scallywag, before ye insisted on taxin' the non-profit insurance companies, they dominated the health insurance industry! It be yer regulation & taxation that be forcin' prices up!

  • The non-profit insurers went public to make up money they lost in the Last real estate crisis. I worked for Blue Cross and they're as crooked as the rest. Insurers take forty cents of the healthcare dollar. Medicare takes three cents. I guess tea partyers can't do math. If you ever have to collect on a big claim you are in for years of litigation and a nasty surprise, Insurers are monsters who kill people, ruin lives, and own the courts and politicians. Letting them self-regulate is nuts.

  • Cybervigilante -- I agree that today's insurance companies are sheer hell. But they're also CRUSHED by government regulation and BURIED in government red tape. We have nothing like capitalism in health care in the US today.

Under capitalism, the good insurers would put the bad ones utterly out of business. Today the bad ones are quietly, but totally, propped up and funded by Big Brother.

  • Cybervigilante -- Where indeed? George Bush and the Republicans and the conservatives spent 8 long years DESTROYING freedom, free enterprise, capitalism, and the American way. They're the utter ENEMY of liberalism. Let's hope the "tea party" folks are true libertarians -- not braindead slimy hopeless conservatives.

  • Also, thank you for referring to the Left as "Progressive." They are not True Liberals.

  • DomHippie -- You're welcome! The battle for words, is the battle for the world. The conservatives and pre-modernists need to be defeated, along with the progressives and post-modernists. Both are highly illiberal.

We need PURE LIBERALISM to be fully alive and truly happy! Luckily, much or even most of this is available WITHOUT changing the world. :-)

  • The Battle for Words is the Battle of the Ages!

Even in the beginning of this country, when those who were opposed to a Federation-Style government, called themselves the "Federalists" warping the meaning of the word "Federalism."

Or how Patriot initially meant Revolutionary, and now means unwavering loyalty.

Or how Capitalism no longer means "Free Market," to those who assert that America is Capitalist.

Semantics is one of the biggest problems facing the world.

  • Bingo! :-)

  • Well, we kinda already have a "shield," of sorts.

America spends almost 50% of all the money in the world that is spent on National Defense, about 2X as much as all of Europe combined.

Unless Iran views us as a direct threat to themselves, there is no way that they would attack. If we back out and stop going out of our way to pick fights with our enemies, they will not attack.

Rather, peace, diplomacy, and free trade is the best way to defend ourselves against these small nations.

  • DoomHippie -- In general you're right. But Islam makes people crazy. Ahmadinejad and Khamenei are irrational and fanatic enough -- and in love with the religious millennium enough -- that they just MIGHT attack us or Europe, IMHO.

  • Actually, the majority of Islam is peaceful. However, the sects controlled by Iran and Saudi Arabia, are not. And, unfortunately, they are the sects that spend the most on "Spreading the word of Allah," unfortunately giving the rest of the world a militant view of Islam. A relatively new growing sect, the Sufi, I believe are actually pacifistic with the exception of self-defence.

  • DoomHippie -- You might want to check out Ibn Warraq, Andrew Bostom, and Robert Spencer -- especially jihadwatchDOTcom. Pretty much all Muslims believe in jihad (essentially WAR) and sharia (essentially TYRANNY).

  • Except we created Iran. It had a democratic government until the CIA deposed it in favor of the Shah, so we could do better oil deals.

Why is the most prominent book on the shelf by that shithead, Ayn Rand?

  • Cybervigilante -- As you note, America has generally NOT had a pro-freedom, pro-liberal impact on Iran over the years.

But Ayn Rand was a stunning philosophical genius! Personally flawed and rather cultist in her public and private persona -- but absolutely brilliant. She is a liberal Saint.

  • very interesting, thank you!

  • Thanks, 77Merav! I hope to be at least somewhat interesting, fascinating, and food for thought. :-)
