  • WOW AMAZING!

It sound like a song from 'sims' :D..haha

  • The Sims: "Acid Trip" Expansion Pack

  • I WANT IT!!!

  • master!

  • near the end it sounds like windows xp error attack O_o

  • HAHAHAHA!!!!

  • ahahhaahhahahha best comment ever

  • I don't know I think it is harder than it looks, like playing the guitar sure you can make a note/ cord but a song is a different story.

  • @DROW42 naa, surely you can set these things to specific scales like Aurora on the ipad- that way you never can hit a bum note. Cant do that with a gi-tar

  • Who cares, as long as the result is good.

  • Ha, he should have littlebootsvideos be doing that presentation!

  • yeah!! agree!!

  • ok thats it, im obcessed!...O_O..

  • Con un curso de unas 70mil horas creo k le podria llegar a utilizar jajajaja ta wapo el invento.

  • buenisima la demostracion..esta muy wapa la makinita.

  • It's a look into what the instruments of tomorrow will be like. Sure some major things need to be fixed, but the amount of innovation in this product is outstanding.

  • Close your eyes and LISTEN and you'll recognize that this "instrument" sound like shit.

Isn't an instrument supposed to make MUSIC?!?

  • no, a musician is supposed to make music, an instrument is just that...a tool

  • ok, but u know what i mean? I think this is no "real" invention, because there is nothing new about it... step sequencer, VERY cheap sounding synth, a bit of random stuff and a lot of blinking lights. It's a toy for kids. not an instrument. Music created with it sounds like a gameboy soundtrack

  • but even a gameboy soundtrack is only bad depending on the person you ask. it's called chiptunes.

  • I agree...

this is very old step sequencing with a light brite reward...

  • If you don't hear music in this it's your loss. Narrow mindedness... Go back to your top hits.

  • Just a game, but the next, maybe will be an instrument..

  • Cool! :)

  • one thing about it is the interface is so slow, compared to just about every other instrument in the universe.

  • Прикольно! И чего только не придумают вездесущие японцы )

  • the future!! kraftwerk is past

  • I can has one?

  • now.. that´s why japanese people faint.. they always make this kind of effects... it´s scary... but I want one.. lol!

  • Someone give me 1,300$ so I can buy this

  • Kinda hypnotizing...

  • love the concept, being both a musician, designer and new media junkie, i think its genius

but it sounds horrible and looks naff.

  • Well, I'm sure most people who watch this video are also musicians, possibly designers, and since we're all here on YouTube we're mostly web and media junkies as well. None of this qualifies you as an expert over any of us.

I have a Tenori-on, and not only have I made amazing sounding weirdness with it, but it also looks very cool. I know several others who have it, all making wicked stuff.

    So, you're wrong :)

  • This is like the "encounters in the third kind" music!

  • that looks REALLY confusing, but very very cool

  • yeah!

  • 1.150 Euro on eBay. Lets wait for a iPhone emulation :) I bet this would really blow all out, since it wouldn't be limited to 256 sounds!

  • (Quoting Wikipedia) The instrument was launched in London on September 4th, 2007 for a suggested retail price of $1,200.(UNQUOTE) ..JESUS. I guess this isn't much of a Light bright, eh? More of a professional Musical Tool for Mixing..I want one..

  • OMG! I've had my Tenori-on for 4 days now. Help me. I am totally addicited. It is just amazing!

  • I just got one! I just got one! I just got one! :) its awesome! tenori-on (dot) co (dot) uk shop

Its mine! Its mine! How jealous are you!? :)

  • give me a price and destination and its mine fo real any clues where i can get one?

  • The beginning was good, then it just became a mix of noise.

  • it's a rip off of monome, which is alot cheaper that this over priced piece of crap. This thing is restricted as hell and worthless. don't bother

  • No... Not correct... Monome is a Midi controller for computersoftware, and its darn cool to... But the Tenori-On can be used 'on the go' without a computer, and has a memorycard for sample loading...

They have the blinking lights in common, but thats about it...

Tenori-On could be used by any one for playing around or making real music...

The Monome is more proffesional, for example you have to write your own software, and would not be used as a toy, but on stage next to a apple notebook...

  • Would give me a headache... o.O

  • i think it'd make a nice toy once it gets factory made. in reality it's just a physical version of fruity loops lol. but still mad cool.

  • completely useless...

  • Fail.

  • ╔╗╔╦══╦╗╔╦══╦╦╦╗dnamusik, how did you make

    ║╚╝║╔╗║╚╝║╔╗║║║║that?

    ║╔╗║╠╣║╔╗║╠╣╠╬╬╣

    ╚╝╚╩╝╚╩╝╚╩╝╚╩╩╩╝

  • i copied it from some other dude. it looks like a series of underscores, dashes and Is but its probably done with a program that generates images based on text input...

  • There are a lot of people who hate this thing but man it looks pretty cool to me.

  • Gaaaah!!! Why is it that anyone who makes techno seems to know NOTHING of musical theory?

  • ╔╗╔╦══╦╗╔╦══╦╦╦╗

    ║╚╝║╔╗║╚╝║╔╗║║║║

    ║╔╗║╠╣║╔╗║╠╣╠╬╬╣

    ╚╝╚╩╝╚╩╝╚╩╝╚╩╩╩╝ cool

  • wow great toys :D for DJs realy

  • Dadelus uses something similar to that.

  • its a electro version of those old music things with the cylinder with bumps on it. titty....that is all

  • it will work for beginers dj

  • def. a good toy when ur trippin!! whats with the negative vibes people?

  • that thing blows, get a guitar

  • stop being so dumb

  • reminds me of a "close encounter." but that just shows my age. : )

  • As if they didnt come off the back of a ufo.Thats space age technology.

  • it sounded good in the beginning it was all buzzing at the end though :\

  • zomg wtf this most be the worlds most annoyning music machine O.o

  • joder que pasada no? ta wapisimo!

  • Or everyone who wants one of these could get some friends together, pick up some instruments and play real music...instead of sitting at home by yourself doing...well, this.

  • sounds like something off a new car advert. This thing would be good for writing jingles.

  • u guys know that lil thing costs 600 pounds. basically cuz it's hand made. but it's better to pick one up now cuz at that price they wont be around long.

  • It doesnt really matter if it is really usefull or not... as long as people buy it for the kids or w/e its a good product... IMMA GET 10

  • cool XD i wish i had 1... way easier than instruments

  • if u open it up o bunch of luminiscent bugs and a 12 DC battery will bust out<

  • vvv It was created by the same guy btw

  • just get ElectroPlankton for the Nintendo DS. It does pretty much the same thing.

  • You can do the same thing on any computer quite easily, whats cool is really just the lights and hardware

  • This would be great for studio sessions when your mind just go blank on music track ideas,.. just use this Thang and new notes will snap back into focus,.. Livewire- :P

  • OMG I WANT ONE

  • coolest device ever, whoever doesnt "get it" please go back to the 20th century, this device is for the future.

  • it wont matter .....

  • Ok... so it's a step sequencer with a touch pad that works on a matrix... and the big deal is? Am I missing something? :(

  • towards the end I thought something was going to pop out of the friggen screen and bite his head off

  • lol

  • this thinhg is freaking amazing. i want one of those.

  • Maybe I'm just dumb but wouldn't that be really difficult to use w/o a labeling system. Esp. for someone who doesn't know what their doing?

  • It makes me think of Reason downloaded into a high tech Lite-Brite.

  • YeA LOL

  • i like it, makes me dance in me chair, lol

  • for the people who know what they're talking about; this is essentially just a bloated 1/16 step-sequencer. it's cool, but there are a lot more functional sequencers out there that I imagine will allow you to do more. this definitely gets an A for style, but I'd say it's closer to a C in terms of functionality.

  • It might not be as fuctional as others, but like you said, it has style -and maybe thats what counts

  • i don't know about the specs of this product but if it is capable of sending midi out than you'll have a great seq here for quick sequences compositions and specially for live act visuals although the price might be exagerated heavy.

  • nice little peice of technology

  • Makes good sonar.

  • lol

  • kind of an obnoxious little composition. but oh the potential. i want one

  • Name one thing innovative about this...

the idea of it is used in just about any computer music software.

  • this ones just loud and annoying

  • This thing could possibly put a lot of musicians out of the game if you think about it cause there is a possibility to integrate different sounds in it besides the ones it comes with. Scary thought if you think about it much.

  • You're kidding, right? No actual musician is threatened by this beeping toy.

  • alright maybe my rant was a little.... ridiculous, I was just a little bit tired lol

  • typical pseudo-intellectual pedantism right here folks. my suggestion is that you take any basic music theory or history course and learn what an "instrument" is defined as.

in case you were too stupid to figure out by watching the video (you were), the notes on the scale were aligned vertically, and were added on to the sequence by touching them. that's real time composition, also known as "playing an instrument".

  • no need to hate just because u no u will neva be able to do that

  • I do play the guitar and piano. In fact, I have 4 years of classical training on the piano under my belt, three years of college music theory, and I come from a musically inclined family.

Both my brother and I are electronic musicians, and we understand the complexities of music of this nature.

    You, obviously, do not.

  • This thing is an "instrument" in the same way my beeping cell-phone is an "instrument," only less so since this thing doesn't even seem to allow for that degree of freedom of tempo.

  • this thing is a sequencer.

more than likely you've got complete control over tempo.

  • I see there are very few of you who have actually grasped the idea here. Alot of technology went into this.

  • sorry about the double comment... my first one didn't show up for a few minutes.

  • It could be a cell phone for those aliens from Close Encounter's of the Third Kind! (JK) It is more a toy than anything else. BUT it is something that could be further developed for use in professional recording applications.

  • It could be like a cell phone for those aliens from Close Encounters of the Third Kind! (JK) It really is more a toy than anything else but I can see this being further developed for use in professional audio recording.

  • its not a toy, with a good battery loop could be a great thing in innovation, and the price is fair for the complexity of this handmade product

  • sad bitch, a thing made by sony for that price it's not a toy obviously. The fact that you dont have money doesn't mean that this useful and cool instrument suck, come back to your fisher price piano and make some noise lol

  • bitch fist

  • expensive? prolly

  • It's so expensive as you think... it's only $1200(£600)

  • It sounds "Classic" (in both the meaning as "old" and "Great"

Overall verdict: This thing is great

  • i want 1

  • sounds like a animal-crossing song. *sigh* I miss that game. lol

  • were da fuck can i get that?

  • Sweetest thing I have ever seen!!!

  • cool dude

  • Ok... a looping pattern sequencer with a touch-screen... what's the big deal?

  • OLÉ!

  • man, its like a video from japan in the 1960's haha!

  • sure its amazing but WHAT do you do with it other then create anoying ostinatos... it looks lots of fun to play with tho =]

think i might wait till it gets to $50 tho

  • its the synthesizer for the new millenium

  • the pain

  • Its a neat Idea, I just dont think 1700 dollars is a reasonable price if you want to take this product to the masses....but then again, thats what they said about DVD players to....

  • yooo towards the end he went crazy on it!!!

  • güzel çinlilerin kafası böle boş işlere çalışır zaten :)

  • Looks like a far too expensive take on Electroplankton

  • It kinda sounds like electroplankton to, I was really excited about this thing but,,,errr, it just sound like kitch video game music from this demo,

  • That`s because both were created by the same person: Toshio Iwai

  • I know tubo, but personally I think Iwai was right with electroplankton, it sounds like a computer 'game' by nintendo, but here he is anouncing a breakthrough in musical sequencer (which fair enough he's done),only the sounds on it make it sound just like,,,errr, a kitch computer game by nintendo

  • Nice!

  • Where can I get one of these cool pieces of kit?
