No... Not correct... Monome is a Midi controller for computersoftware, and its darn cool to... But the Tenori-On can be used 'on the go' without a computer, and has a memorycard for sample loading...

They have the blinking lights in common, but thats about it...

Tenori-On could be used by any one for playing around or making real music...

The Monome is more proffesional, for example you have to write your own software, and would not be used as a toy, but on stage next to a apple notebook...

for the people who know what they're talking about; this is essentially just a bloated 1/16 step-sequencer. it's cool, but there are a lot more functional sequencers out there that I imagine will allow you to do more. this definitely gets an A for style, but I'd say it's closer to a C in terms of functionality.
