  • 60% of Australians?. That survey was done with 1100 people, which isnt even considered an appropriate sized sample! In your new ad you sprout that 76% of coalition voters support a conscience vote. The sample size? 1051! Yes, that's right. And we berate politicians and lawyers for twisting the numbers and misleading the public. Turns out that anyone who wants something bad enough will twist the numbers to their advantage!

  • Ask the people if they are happy that time is being wasted on this subject when there are way more important things for the Government to focus on - like the economy, mental health and disability issues - the list is numerous - this issue should be at the end of th elist particularly in the current climate. People are struggling to pay power costs, buy food, pay rents & mortgages - business is dying. Anyway, marriage is created in the bible between man and woman - same sex marriages mean nil

  • 47 people are for equality and 1 is a knob

  • great stuff. it would be mindblowing for me to have my mum do something like that.

  • CHEERS, Shelly!!!!

  • Aww, what an ace Mum! Any chance you can run for office? You're making much more sense than the 2 major party bozo's we have to choose from.

  • @kazandlily Rednecks or Liars... Take our pick lol.

  • Well done Shell, you have my support.

  • 0:24 shes happy AND ANGRY!

  • Your concept of God is petty and backward. If my parents can love me no matter who I am then surely God, with infinite love and wisdom, accepts all of creation absolutely and unconditionally.

  • @chaudlapin82 God does love you unconditionally. That does not mean God accepts your choices. Homosexuality is an abomination in the eyes of God and while it may or may not be something that you live with please dont twist God's love to mean something else to make you feel that you are off the hook in some way. All of mankind has to deal with sin of some sort or other. It is up to all of us to seek forgiveness, to repent and seek salvation and overcome our sin.

  • @Pendu068 I wish you all the best with your guilt-ridden medieval concept of a God who declares LOVE an abomination and punishes people who love 'incorrectly'. You are the victim of your own mental abuse, perpetuated by a church who teaches you to do so. I let go of these hurtful and damaging ideas over a decade ago and have never been happier, healthier, and more successful and have discovered God to be greater than anything I could have imagined from within the church's ancient paradigm.

  • @chaudlapin82 Clearly you hold to a convenient humanist religion that suits your lifestyle choices. The church you seem to be referring to is a man made institution and yes it has been very flawed and manipulated throughout history. I do not hold or belong to any man made church, so you can forget that line of attack. My belief is from a biblical understanding. I accept that as the time proven inspired Word of God. Remember you are the one who passed judgement on God. I only answered you.

  • @Pendu068 I didn't realise we were discussing the Bible's version of God... the God that encourages slavery, genocide, and giving your daughters up for gang rape. There are moments of wisdom in the ancient book, but it possibly paints the worst image of God imaginable - jealous, petty, murderous, vengeful... the God that almost tricked Abraham into killing his own Son to prove his loyalty... yeah, I'm not at all interested in that guy... but Westboro Baptist Church are!

  • @chaudlapin82 Please spare us all your deception and spin. You clearly have a very ill informed perspective of God's Word & so conveiniently twist the truth to serve your own purposes. For example, you spuriously spin that God "almost tricked Abraham" when in fact (read the Word) God tested Abraham. Big difference. God had no intention of allowing Abraham to sacrifice his son, but in the context of the times, which you clearly have no understanding of, you pass your petty judgement.

  • @Pendu068 No, you spare us your archaic interpretations of a book which has lost alot of its original meaning due to negligent translations from one language to the next, and the throwing out of dozens (at least) of books by a council who evidently knew better than Jesus himself as to what the bible should consist of. Spare us your religion, for despite even those two facts, this is paramount: The seperation of Church and State. So either back up your flimsy arguments with science or shut up.

  • @whitmanrocked I can't believe you want science. You are deluded if you can't work out the basics of reproduction for yourself. We are here to procreate, have families, to honour God's creation & natural law. Futhermore, to risk childrens normal development through a twisted homosexual 'family' experiment is just wrong at every level & only serves to satisfy the selfish wants of homosexuals. How could you want to do such a thing to children & to future society. That's sick!

  • @Pendu068 Wow. Let me put it like this: Your 'the book', which is what the the bible literally means, has lost a great deal of its original meanings. The Israelites lost most of the Old Testament when enslaved by the Babylonians-they wrote down what could be remembered; The New Testament was decided on by people whose qualifications are questionable (council of Nicea) and the whole bible had been poorly translated from Aramaic & Hebrew to Greek, Latin, & to all other languages. Hardly reliable.

  • @Pendu068 And further more than the previous FACTS, please do tell me this: exactly which Old Testament laws did Jesus HIMSELF say that his followers were to obey? Besides ten commandments. Did he not say that he come to fulfill the old law, not do away with it? So that means: Adulterer women and men are to be stoned to death, women are to walk behind men, trees are NOT to be stood up and decorated, no consumption of pork, or shellfish..ect, ect. You cant pick and choose which laws to obey.

  • @whitmanrocked Okay, so tell me what the New Testament says, in its original language (Aramaic) and with all the books intact (including the book of Barnabus and others that were left out). Meanwhile, I think I'll stick to Logic and Reason, which tells me that current facts show that Homosexuals are BORN homosexual. You can keep believing in a book that was loosely interpreted at one time as saying that all blacks are cursed descendants of Noah's son Ham, which was used to justify slavery.

  • @whitmanrocked The Bible is the most examined text in the history of man. FACT. It has been investigated by scholars from every persuasion, including many who would not look favorably upon it. While true that we have no original copies of the texts (autographs) there is a great deal of evidence as to the veracity of what we have. For example, when the dead sea scrolls were discovered after some 2000 years, it was found that they had only minor differences to the old,... cont'd

  • @whitmanrocked testament manuscripts held from that time (10th century Masoretic texts). As for the New Testament, we have some 25,000 complete & fragmentary manuscripts in multiple languages from multiple locations & the differences between them hold no major significance for orthodox Christian tenets. The same cannot be said for any other ancient text. Some which are held up as accurate & whole histories are built upon them, yet for e.g.we have only 10 copies,,,, cont'd

  • @whitmanrocked dating from approx 10th century AD (Caesars Gaelic Wars is a good example). What does this mean? No other texts from the ancient world have been so examined & have been proven to be so accurate to their earliest examples as the manuscripts which went on to become what we call the Bible. Now what is contained in the Bible must be accepted by faith, you either believe it or you dont. However, as to the proven history of the documents themselves, from both, cont'd

  • @whitmanrocked the Old the New Testament, we have overwhelming evidence. What you are doing in your desperate effort to deny God & His Word, is to whip up strawman arguments with your twisted spin, ignoring truth & the most tested historical account known to man. Why? So that you can justify your choices.

  • @Pendu068 First of all, you skipped over several of my points. The Torah itself (from which the old testament derives) has been determined to have been written down and accumulated begining during the Israelites enslavement to the Babylonians circa 400BCE and estimated to have been completed by 600 BCE, which is a looong time after Moses. Why? They lost almost everything during and following the sacking of Judea and later wrote down 'what they remembered. cont.....

  • @whitmanrocked "Your comments are purely speculation that the Jews got their belief/scriptures from the Babylonian exile. I wouldn't argue that they picked up a great deal of 'culture' while in Babylon (Aramaic for example). But, the internal evidence (Book of Daniel) shows they had a strong belief in the One True God & would rather die than worship another. Before, during & after the exile, there was always a segment of the Hebrew people who A: Carried the sacred,,,,cont'd

  • @whitmanrocked (cont'd from previous)...scriptures with them. (especially the Pentateuch/Law of Moses) & not just verbally, eg the Tablets in the Ark Deuteronomy 10:2 B: Stayed loyal to God (Yahweh) eg. 1 Kings 19:18 The 7000 who did not bow to Baal." That said if you want to continue a discussion on the bible's veracity, I suggest you take it to a more relevant YT page. This page is about a different topic so kindly keep to the subject. On that issue I have said my piece, cont'd

  • @whitmanrocked (cont'f from previous) so best you deal with that rather than try to draw focus away from the real subject matter of this YT post and my original comment which was in opposition to homosexual, bisexual, lesbian and polyamorous/group sex marriage and child raising rights.

  • @Pendu068 There are so many similarities between certain beliefs in Judaism, Christianity and the Babylonian, Sumerian, and Egyptian Mythologies, that they have been well documanted. Iam not contesting the veracity of neither Chistianity nor Judaism themselves, Iam contesting the purity of modern doctrine. In dealing with homosexuality, there are absolutely NO supportive texts by Jesus himself, or his apostles. (to be continued)

  • @whitmanrocked Where are the traditions of Jesus (surely Jesus explained old testament verses in light of the new covenant to his apostles)? Homosexuals have always existed, even in the holy lands, surely there would be some supportive verbal traditions condemning it. There are none, and further, the references to h in the Old Testament are purely concerning Sodom and Gommorah, and there is plenty of evidence to suggest (to be continued)

  • @whitmanrocked that those biblical verses werent so much about homosexuality in itself, but about the perversions those people practiced, such as luring travellers and forcibly raping them, forcing some into prostitution, and other such sex and other crimes. And its easily understood how those things could of happened since those two cities were along one of the major long-range trade routes of their time. There is evidence of this in other historical references. (to be continued)

  • @whitmanrocked In the New Testament, the ONE verse even mentioning same sex relations only deals with sex. Homosexuality was widespread even during

the times of Jesus, and in alot of places it was fashionable, even if only behind closed doors, to sexually 'experiment'. This involved taking part in same sex relations (even though you were not homosexual), orgies (which could involve some same sex) and the like. This verse obviously treats that subject ( to be continued)

  • @whitmanrocked with a warning against such practices..and not homosexuality in itself, since there were many homosexuals (even men who felt so effiminate that they dressed as women) in almost any major city through out the west and east. If one was to take into account historical facts, it becomes obvious that the translators, compilers and other 'scholars' did very little to preserve the intended meanings of the texts. (to be continued)

  • @whitmanrocked That is why alot of people view the Bible as contradictory and confusing. Now you and other Bible purists/ literalists may say: "that is your interpretation of those verses, but they arent based on any evidence..its specualtion". Guess what, without ANY supporting traditions by any of the prophets, the apostles or Jesus himself, your purist/literalist views are but speculation as well.To ignore those facts in favor of blind acceptance of a book..thats on you. Later.

  • @whitmanrocked First off it is important to make clear that God loves us all & that Christ died for everyone; that includes homosexuals. It was mankind's continuously sinful nature that lead to disobedience to God's Word. Homosexuality is one such manifestation of that wrong doing. You asked for biblical evidence to support that reality; For that, one need look no further than Romans 26 - 28. V28 states; "Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain,,cont'd

  • @whitmanrocked the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done" V26&27 state"Because of this,God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error." cont'd

  • @Pendu068 It matters not what the MANY CURRENT bibles are saying...you seem to miss the point. Tell me what those texts said in their original languages, when first written..and tell me what Jesus himself said, as written by his mother, disciples, or whoever, in support or explanation. You cant and along with the self-righteous Council of Nicea's 'deciding' of what belongs in the 'bible' and what doesnt and the many sloppily translated and transliterated 'versions' only proves me right.

  • @whitmanrocked (cont.) So, you can quote all the bible verses you want..but IN FACT, those are YOUR opinions. If you want to believe in bible 'purity', however, you really need to do alot more unbiased research. Besides all that, what the bible says is not even relevant to the issue..which is the constitutionality of denying the same equal rights. And unfortunately, science, medicine and logic and reason are against you and the rest of the 'bible' literalists and purists. The end

  • @whitmanrocked Ok let’s just deal with one thing at a time, or you will be at risk of appearing to ‘straw man’ the discussion with ad hominem views. As you start with challenging evidence on Jesus’ actual dialog, let’s dwell on that first; As my reference I use the most definitive & widely supported lexicon for biblical interpretation, the BDAG 3rd edition. It is from that reference that the most respected & scholarly translations come. As a point of fact you would know,,cont'd

  • @whitmanrocked (cont.) that the original language of the NT is Greek & so I will also give you the Greek translation as the evidence you seek. The following is in fact what the original texts state; (incl Greek translations); (1 Corinthians 6:9-18) v9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men. (v9 Sexually immoral: from Greek PORNOS,,cont'd

  • @whitmanrocked (cont'd) literally a male prostitute but in NT sexually immoral person = a fornicator a man who engages in unlawful sexual intercourse. (•v9 men who have sex with men: 1. MALAKOS = effeminate, being passive in a same-sex relationship 2. ARSENOKOITES = a male who engages in sexual activity with a person of his own sex.) v10; nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. v13, “Food for the stomach,,,cont'd

  • @whitmanrocked (cont'd) and the stomach for food, and God will destroy them both.” The body, however, is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. (•v13 sexual immorality: PORNEIA = unsanctioned sexual intercourse, unlawful sexual intercourse: prostitution, unchastity, fornication)

Now to Romans 1:26-28. v26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones.,cont'd

  • @whitmanrocked (cont'd) v27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error. 28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. (•v26 natural sexual relations 'CHRESIS' use, usage,,,cont'd

  • @whitmanrocked (cont'd) but can also have the connotation of intimate involvement with a person = relation, function. (•v27 shameful acts ASCHEMOSUNE = behaviour that elicits disgrace, shameless deed, something considered too private for public exposure, nakedness.)

  • @Pendu068 Look, you keep quoting the very same book as a your ONLY source, in support of your arguments about what the book says...that's called circular reasoning. Its all good though, because its obvious that neither you, nor any other so-called bible-purists/literalist christians can. You say the bible is the most examined book in the world , and you're right. However, its a shame that despite a dearth of credible evidence...(cont.)

  • @whitmanrocked (cont.)...despite a dearth of credible evidence to support your interpretation of a multitude of verses, you rely on them as your sole source of evidence. Furthermore, you completely ignore any emperical facts, and facts derived from studies and research, concerning both the bible and the subject of homosexuality. I will debate this subject no more with you. To you be your way, to me be mine. Know this though, your bible doesn't belong in my bedroom. Bye.

  • @whitmanrocked In regards to the long bow that you draw re your "circular reasoning" comment; Common now, that’s just a lame excuse. You asked for the actual interpretation & evidence from Jesus's teaching & that is precisely what I gave you. Perhaps my response made you feel uncomfortable, but to claim the "circular reasoning" card as you did is in fact a red herring distraction & is thus invalid. Plus my case will always be based on the clear understanding of,,,cont'd

  • I'm surprised Australia hasn't got same sex marriage yet. Australia is one of the most accepting countries in the world for gay people.

  • Thank you Shelley!! I hope others mirror & share your video! Adding mine to Facebook now!

  • wat are u on about? she clearly was saying.. that one son is gay and the other straight and the gay son should have the same right as the straight one to marry.

  • Australia is a country which is far behind and is slow to progress, heck even Nepal has legalised same sex marriage and it's a poor country and is not wealthy and civilised like Australia is and even Albania another poor country is looking at legalizing same sex marriage, it's an embarrassment that a country like Australia which is one of the wealthiest and most civilised countries in the world is for the most part backwards and stuck in the dark ages.

  • Thanks. Mums are the best... I wish my mum would do a tv ad like this!

  • Well done Shelley, thank you!

  • Thanks Shelley, John in Sydney

  • Great to have this on TV - it's about time that Australia moves on and finally commits to Marriage Equality

  • Great message Shelley! Congrats on this. I think a campaign based on your video would be really effective. Imagine high profile and everyday Australian',s gay and straight, recording video's like this. It would really be impactful. Imagine Bert Newton, Marcia Hines, Justice Kirby, Mum's, Dad's, Grandparents etc
