Massively out-of-touch reviewer aside- this game kicks ass. Anybody who's heard co Compile has heard of this game. Compile has influenced shit this guy has probably played, but never realized. Love this series and wish Compile was still around to this day.
Is this supposed to be a review or a 4 minute ragequit? I don't appreciate the way you treated this game. Honestly, did you expect to even be decent or even understand an advanced puzzle game in 4 minutes? You might as well just review Zuma clones with that attitude. People practice Puyo Puyo over the span of YEARS, not MINUTES.
Protip: Don't review a game if you suck at it. Puyo Puyo is still one of the only puzzle games that are fair and balanced on VS.
I have this on my Megadrive in the form of Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, and it kicks ass despite the cheesy Americanization, oh and this reviewer sucks!
The whole reason that game existed is because Puyo Puyo never really made it into the States, When localizing it finally, Sonic the Hedgehog was wildly popular at the time. Hence, Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine.
Fair play it might well be one of the best games ever, but when you're quickly trying to find a game to play for a short blast of fun, a puzzle game isn't it. Even the all time classic Tetris, wouldn't have got more than 4/10 if I'd stumbled upon it for the first time.
Probably a better 2 player versus game than a one player one though. I have it on my phone and its hardly fun.
I had a game with a similar name, Poy Poy for the PS1, extraordinary multiplayer (multitap) game, not puzzle game dough it was 4 player tryin to throw rocks at each other in a arena, real real addictive.
Do you have a crap game magnet or something. They just seem to gravitate towards you. Now you've moved onto the Mega Drive, please review something half decent, like Arcus Odyssey, Beyond Oasis, Crusader of Centy, Light Crusader, Landstalker, Revenge of Shinobi, etc. Cheers!
I shall take the suggestions on board. The other Sega games I reviewed are even worse. That's what you get for randomly choosing games. I keep hoping to stumble upon a cult classic, but so far get nothing but shite for my efforts.
My goodness! It's 'Dr. Robotnik's Bean Machine' (I know this game well; it's on the 'Sonic the Hedgehog' Anniversary CD for the Nintendo Game Gear, and took me a good six or seven hours to beat the last level)!
I mean, the characters, music, and interlude graphics are different, but everything else is exactly the same.
I think there's a lot of different versions of this. My phone has this game but with musical notes instead of those little Puyo blobs. And it's only one player.
To be fair to the game, it's not bad if you really want to get into it. But I'm not in the mood to play a puzzle game.
This is a very "dashing" video. =p
