  • @lamusicahera She was a kind of legend to me! Grew up on Staten Island, and though she probably never took the ferry, there was a time when she lived there too. I always fantasized about meeting her one day. Never happened, but then, there are gems like this to treasure! Thanks so much for your comment!

  • Sixty-seven years old....Wow ! Ageless genius!

  • This is so positively wonderful that I wish there an "adore" button instead of just "like."

  • My goodness just discovered her!

  • BTW- she had an album of pop music too- she was unusual in that she sang in THIS voice, and not the stage soprano most opera stars choose to belt out oldies....

  • I was lucky to see her live singing Cherubini's "Medea" at her peak. The setting? The Greek Theater at Berkeley! What a voice it was. And at student ticket prices....

  • And here I sit broken-hearted! I never saw her live, and I'm just a putz for not having better followed her career! I could have, but that's like "coulda, woulda, shouda," and it just won't count! Anyway, I'm thrilled that you saw her live in Berkeley!

  • Wonderfull. Leonard Bernstein and André Previn could perform 'beautiful' music whether classical, pops, jazz. They were (are) at home with Mozart or Gershwin on Broadway or Carnegie Hall. This is the mark of a true musician, not very common in 'classical music' performers.

  • Sad we've lost Leonard, but grateful for Andre still in our midst! You're absolutely right ; both were "ambidextrous" with either media! Thank you for your comment, and again, I'm honored!
