  • Some people call this 'pop'...I haven't heard 'pop' this good in ages. I hope to heaven they keep doing this!

  • This is what I love about music....its so different, you cannot 'pigeonhole' it, its unique....I think they remind me most of bands like Hawkwind....one big excentric happy family....long may they continue.

  • To Liam McKinney .... Thankyou Very Much my old Celtic friend :)

  • wow

    this is astonishing.

    i am in cosmic love.

  • We used to share this loads on Facebook but you can't embed it now :(

  • the singer/guitar player used to be my guitar teacher :D

  • C R A Z Y, insane madness! :D

  • This is one of the best things that I've come across on Youtube so far this year.

Gryphon meets Gentle Giant on a sunny day.

  • Has this bunch of cunts decided to split up yet?

  • There's a good argument to say the lyrics challenge the standard model of physics magic mushrooms. You are your own large hadron collider.

  • Bahaha. I know the dude who plays all the strange wind instruments, his name's Bill Summers. He used to sing in a choir with me. He once told me that the reason he wore such thick glasses was because he sneezed with his eyes open when he was a child and his eye ball fell out. I don't even think he was even joking.

  • A spatiotemporal dysfunction , a wonderful lampoon tho .

  • @TheManicman11 twisted mushroom pixie rock is not fixed in space and time. No lampoon intended I'm sure

  • what is this i don't even

  • I'm mostly a deathmetal guy but everyone need to own this album, it's not perfect but pretty close to it.

  • I want them to abduct me!

  • someone needs to tab this

  • BLEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

  • Fabulous, wonderfully gloriously bonkers fabulous!

I saw these guys a few years ago doing a free gig on the Southbank as part of the frostfair.

What an antidote to all the godawful x-factor screeching practically porn stars the media throw at us 24/7!

  • man I thought I knew hippie but this was unfathomable........

I honesty dont know what to think. And also Im scared

  • @blacktheory Prick!

  • hahahahahahaaahahahahahahaHAHAHAhahahaHAHAhahHAHAHAHAHhahaha

  • I'm glad Lord Summerisle finally decided to form a rock band.

  • i would wish music to go back to this any day over the shit being pumped out as popular music any day!

  • moog synthesizers! :D hahahaha good song

  • what the f'''k have just stumbled upon?

  • The singer used to be my guitar teacher

  • Jethro Tull meets Tele Tubbies........groovy

  • fuckin el

  • mainly listen to power metal and black metal, this is pretty sweet though

  • Is that Andre Aggassi at the back playing the tambourine in the barn. Lovely sound, perfect for 'blissing out' on a hot summers day sitting by the river drinking a flagon of mead to. Although the dude in the middle at the start of the vid (playing the Umbrella handle pipe thingy) looks like my bank manager, I bet these guys are quite a freindly and experimental bunch to hang around with. I feel the need, the need for Mead. Bring on the 'Driud Fluid', man.

  • @dannyspangle Crumhorn; wonderful instrument.

  • something at the fleet foxes meeting went wrong...

  • @tiquitistan more like went right. The Fleet Fox's ho-hum, generic sound can't hold a candle to this.

  • @tiquitistan went 'right' and with a bit more of an interesting result

  • Fucking LEDGE.

  • beautiful.. and I understand it

  • i like that medieval moog in there lol

damn rappers talk about "haters" and look at all the "manlier than thou" assholes on this thing

i kinda like this band really jazzy but the quality on this vid isnt too great

  • Comment removed

  • Hmmmm... I'd like some of what they're on.

Is than an old ES-175T he's playing?

Folk on by, good people of bonkersville...

  • WTF is with the Moog?

  • This song gives me the chills. Love it!

  • i like it, it's got some nice changes =)

  • Anything that goes against Government-Sponsored Blandness should appeal to people who actually like music.: The ones for whom a toaster is not as important a 'white goods' item in their kitchen as a CD player might be.The ones that don't just snaffle up the slurry.

There's a 1,000,000 Cold Patrol and SnowPlay bands to one Circulus.... Michael has guts. He puts his head above the parapet and doesn't dream that anyone will like his music or have any strong reaction&that's why he is special. OVER

  • Comment removed

  • lmfao @ the pseudo-intelligence and pretentiousness oozing out of this rant. Get over yourself.

  • omg...ive just stumbled across this video..and now Im really at lost at how anyone could actually like this kind of music...No offence but i feel fuuuuuuuucking sorry for you guys take care

  • @blacktheory So, you don't like it therefore people who do must be pitied? I feel sorry for you and your somewhat narrow view on music.

  • You aint got a clue

  • I think the outdoor amphitheatre scenes may have been filmed at Gwennap Pit, near Redruth?

    I love Love LOVE Circulus!

  • is this a song about a Dungeons and Dragons game they have been playing every weekend since they were 13 years old. Everybody I show this to thinks it is a spoof from some satirical comedy show.

  • No it aint. They are deadly serious

  • Very unusual, but definitely good!

  • Michael is a very old friend and this is not satire, a joke or anything else - he lives in a world that I've dipped into a few times and liked what I saw but I am completely unequiped to deal with.

He also has the UK's most comprehensive poncho collection.

  • Comment removed

  • is this a joke cause if it's not then i have lost all faith in humanity

  • I don't think they know whether it's a joke or not - that's partly the trouble with it.

  • Is this what they mean about staring into that thin line between madness and genius? Amazing!!

  • Troo dat! It's light hearted, but fucking good.

  • This is brilliant. the singer reminds me of John Lennon lookswise too. Brilliant like nothing else out at the moment. Seriously they are now my favourite current band.

  • gadzooks. me thinks is a real treat to find such a great band.gonna build me a wicker man and burn a christian in it.

  • Here's my reaction summed up in a few emoticons:

    :O XD ^_^

Translation: odd at first, but I liked it.

  • Oh God.. is this a satire?

  • welcome to the folk world, satire man!

  • Cool Band!! I love this group very much....

Lead Vocal Look like John Lennon....

  • Brilliant and refreshing. The Wicker Man on magic mushrooms!

  • Spot on!

I saw them about 5 yrs back playing in a friends garden on his birthday as the sun was going down...they were magic!

  • This is pure genius. Circulus is hilarious as they succeed at taking the piss out of folk music by successfully using every folk music convention/cliché imaginable.

  • mr tyack is the modern day jester and we are the court.

  • I don't think they're taking the piss. I think they love medieval music and hallucinogenic drugs and decided to combine those two things.

  • @galaxyrock I've spoken to Michael Tyack and can confirm that they are indeed absolutely serious about their music.

  • @eMbry00s Although one can only speculate about what 'serious' might mean to somebody whose brain is as pickled in drugs as Michael Tyack's.

  • mega ireland fan!

    so talented,

  • this is just brilliant!!

  • Circulus inspire me in so many ways... they lift my mood...

  • A truly glorious and inspirational performance. Our culture needs people like this.

  • that is such a cool thing to say about a great band! Totally agree!

  • Fungiing Great!

  • wow... nice product placement at 1:25

  • MOOOOOOG! I HAVE A MOOOOG!

  • Watched them with ever increasing awe and respect at Belladrum in 2007. The lead singer is a front man of talent, slightly out of kilter control and, entertainingly, comedic potential. Pretty groovy and original, then, the whole live episode.

  • I'm diggin this !!!

  • Ah, cheeselord27, your comment about the bank made me laugh.

  • is this a LARP?

  • A bunch of groovesters. The Wicker Man meets the Magic Roundabout. I liked it.

  • no! they really are great! it seems a shame theyve got to that stage then..

  • Mmm.. Interesting assumption but I'm actually a girl! Sorry if you're disappointed..

  • well..actually i do have 50 quid thanks !

so..you're imagining me in a sparkly dress !!! hhhmmmnnnn !

  • plus pink fluffy bits and fishnet tights! :oO

  • you dirty boy !

  • can someone please upload swallow from this album. its such a great song!

  • what a fuckin' cock !!

i see on their myspace that they want people to donate fifty quid to help them release their 3rd album !! in return you get to have your face on the cover !! 'GREAT' !!

that is basically saying.."no one wants to put our album out so we have to do it ourselves"!!!

i'll donate a fiver for them to not bother ? how's that sound ?..

  • Thank goodness you don't have the fifty quid to support an amazing project.. your loss!!

  • and..i bet they all work in a bank in their spare time ?

  • p.s. I imagine you don't look as good in a sparkly dress! ;o)

  • @cheeselord27 I take it all back. You were right the first time...

  • @scarytee

hahaah i'd forgotten about this ! what on earth makes you say this after all this time ?

  • @cheeselord27 Mmm... To remind myself not to get burned professionally where artwork's concerned!!

  • this is so awesome. my roommate is obsessed with this song.

  • I just found out about this band, and I must say, they're the coolest thing around. It's like "Lady and the Unicorn"-era John Renbourn meets "Piper at the Gates of Dawn"-era Pink Floyd.

  • there going to play in my village festivale!:)

  • I have only recently discovered these guys, and I absolutly love their music. Where can I find an album people?

  • These people have proper balls, except the lady I should hope. To dare to be this beautiful is rare these days. Travellers in time and consciousness. What can the past, present and future hold? The fellow with the Moog alone is a far bigger star than Robbie Williams. I love Gryphon, Sunforest and the music of the distant past, but that a band like Circulus turns up in the 2000's gives me new hope for the future.

  • @britishcavalry

agreed....especially the bit about the Moog player.

"...and as the mushroom told it's tale..."

  • Many of Instruments in the vid can't be heard in the song, but you can hear a flute, but there is no flute in the video...Oo

  • there is, the big wooden thing is making the noise

  • No, that's a bass-Flute, but you can hear an alt-flute =)

  • They're recorders, not flutes?

  • Oh, sorry, I#m german, and there flute means recorder. So I actually meant recorders =)

  • hey these guys are playing norwich soon, anyone know if they are worth a look?

  • saw them in colchester the weekend just gone, well worth a look, it was my third time seeing them

  • smooth, glad you liked the gig, going to see them 7th october at the Norwich arts centre!

  • comee sing a song

  • this is the most mental thing ever.

  • The mushrooms have landed on Albion's shore.

  • This is very very weird, cheesy hippie shit. But that does not for a single second stop me from liking it. :)

  • i have never heard of this band until now and I think they,er way cool....and yes I am a reincarnated hippie!!!

  • FUCKING GREAT

  • i. love. this.

  • why?

  • Is your name a reference to the singer of this band? Or is that just an amusing coincidence? Cos it would seem a little weird to name yourself after the singer of a band you seem to devote so much time to slagging off.

  • Hmmmm....yessss.....very strange.....mmmm....i wonder.....no....you've got me there.....what on earth am i doing?

  • You have to be an old or reincarnated hippy. I thought it was fab.

  • And it also helps if you have no sense of melody or rhythm

  • lol! stop it!

  • theres tons on melody in this go listen to black eyed peas and leave the cool people alone

  • This band doesn't exist any more. At least not in this form. More or less all of them left last year, and have since been replaced by an even bigger shower of muppets. And - although you might not think it possible - it sounds even worse than this.

  • You think this is bad. Listen to Principle Edwards Magic Theatre cir. 1973!

  • Yes i recently had the misfortune of listening to one of their albums and you're right. It's hard to imagine worse music than that. But this stuff is right up (or down) there with it.

  • :D Awesome I saw them (Well Almost I fell Asleep)at wood fest

  • If I watched the whole thing, and i smiled the whole time, does that mean i liked it?

  • no i think it sounds more like early onset dementia.

  • cool :)

  • alright, after looking into them, i've decided that they're either psycho wiccan faggots, or just really tripped out on acid. either way, the only slightly good thing about them is the music. everything else sucks.

  • wtf, it's like pilgrims of 1967.

  • I like the hat dance at 0:41, the gal is hot, and the music's cool. If nothing, it's a bit off the beaten path, which is always good.

  • Im lovin' Circulus!

  • Music for trips. I like music like that.

  • mighty mighty was righty Zeshly.

  • woohoo!!!!

    gotta love that mini moog

  • lol this is the sort of shit we need more of; people who are fucked up in the head getting medievil on our ass. Great.

  • Circulus is an over-ripe pustule on the sickly face of society

  • CIRCULUS rock

  • My word Mugshort, what an unfunny berk you are.

  • mighty mighty was right.

  • Sod the music - it's all about Hat Empowerment!

  • Food for the soul.

Good music = a healthy soul.

  • single greatest twat of all time

  • Single greatest hat of all time

  • they would be a lot better without the whole olden day thing going on in their music...

it remindes me of something used ot make learning about the olden days more interesting in school

but either than that its not bad.

  • The olden days? Surely this is their whole point!

  • This rules!

  • Circulus are awesome. Everyone should go out and buy "The Lick on the Tip of an Envelope Yet to Be Sent", NOW!!!

  • hehe, this is real good and the video is excellent.

  • i still watch this one once or twice a day. and their albums are great they are beautifully weird and supertalented musicians.

  • Crumhorns & minimoogs! Outstanding! Thank you slippereal. The flower children are back (in spite of the Ortho). I love this stuff!

  • Yeah, this cracked me up,very funny but real good musicians too, nice one crushing death! and thanks to slippereal for putting me on to it!

  • by youtube i meant itunes.

  • this rules. circulus is an inspiration. thank you for posting this crushingdeath. now where did i leave my twenty-sided die...

  • thanks for the tip slippereal, this is awesome!

  • spread the word dude. i have been listening to the two albums they have on youtube and loving them. so magical and original and fun.

  • Amazing!! Yeah this is GREAT stuff. Thanks for pointing me this way Mike. Cgee will love this too. THANKS!!

  • awesome!

  • You cannot be serious. This is very funny. We are ALL made of sunlight....

  • Saw them live at Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival, Inverness in August. They were tremendous. The lead singer is a brilliant frontman, great humour.

  • Mirie it is while summer y-last!

  • DaremoS,fix your fuckin english.

  • I went to see Circulus at the "Waterrats" pub in London in January...had a good chat with the singer about Hurdy-gurdy's and exchanged phone numbers - then lost my phone and his number - doh.. Have a look at my videos - I've got a minute or so of the gig on there. LV

  • I'm willing to bet Ignatius J. Reilly from Confederacy of Dunces would really, really dig these cats.

  • POWER TO THE PIXIES.

  • Just like you, right?

  • In a medieval sense?

  • these guys have the x factor

  • Excellent video. Where's the midget?

  • Zeshly - thou art a cunt. get a sense of humour.

  • Mighty, you appear positively borderline Down's with your laughably embarrassing attempt at ye olde English grammar.

Get a playfriend, you self abusing fucktard.

  • Zeshly, thou art a clotpole. Speaketh thus more so moldwarp and I will have to let the daylight into you.

  • Tell you what Mugshort, show your face next Circle Arse gig and I will gleefully kick your chin off.

  • Ah, a joust. Thou hast a shorteth fuse varlet, surely thou knowest I speaketh in jest?

  • Get a grip on reality, lay off the acid and stop talking like Mr Claypole, it really doesn't do you any favours.
