  • Liste, he looks like he's doing a solid job. To be honest, if this wasn't his typical behavior, the chimps wouldn't have responded. I doubt he's putting on a show.

  • @Tangakkai lol planet of the apes

  • Rick got quite defensive when the presenter asked him about beating the chimps which made me wonder.

Funny how he changed his name too since he's been accused of abusing the chimps.

The chimps smiling is what they do in the wild when they're scared so I wonder how he got them to do that on his command without scaring them.

  • One day a chimp will hold his arm when he's about to show him something and say "No!!!!"

Guess from where thats from ;)

  • the presenter didnt ask one intelligent question, he seemed to have made his mind up beforehand. Why would they want to beat chimps? These people have gone out of there way to work with animals, they are probably the exact opposite. Besides chimpanzees are substantially stronger than every human in the world and the staff will be aware of this. I am against animal cruelty but you have to have sufficient evidence before you suddenly say people are commiting it.

  • We're supposed to be surprised that you don't see cruelty when an investigative filming crew is there?

  • That animal could tear his arms off on a whim. If he was cruel to them he could never handle them without a chain. Do wild chimp mothers cuff their children occasionally? If physical discipline is necessary, so be it. That animal is stronger than any human and it MUST have a healthy respect for people, or else it will be a public menace.

  • I heard the Obama Administration would be hiring him for the reelection campaign

  • I don'ts likes this guy!

  • Man, is he gonna regret it when that chimpanzee uses its 5-7 times stronger than a human monkey strength to start ripping up a rip face off storm.

  • monkey's should not do tricks they should live in the woods.... idiot's

  • But he does not look to be cruel to the chimp

  • If the monkey was suppose to do humane things... He would have been a humane NOT a Monkeyyyyy ..

  • "i do human things with them".. i bet he does.... i am disgusted with this... now let's find a video where a chimp trains this fat idiot for the jungle...

  • just leave them alone.

  • Well these animals do not seem to be reacting with fear around this man. If you watch the video of Josh Weinstein, which you might to the right hand side there, you will see that Tarzan flinches whenever Josh gets near him. However I don't see that type of behavior here. The name of the other video is Monkey abuse - while the cameras are rolling.

  • Don't use chimps in movies idiots. They have feelings. It's not right to take them from there family and the make them play "apes" for us.

  • The abuse they talk about isn't equal to spanking @coppersreno The most common example is 'teaching' them to smile. Chimps smile by showing their bottom teeth only. When they smile like humans, it is called a fear grimice. To produce this fake smile, they beat them with steel rods wrapped in newspaper then on set they just roll up newspaper and the chimps are scared and make the fear grimice. We see this as happiness when in fact it is extreme fear.

  • I know an actor who once used a chimp in one of the episodes he played in. I told him never to do that again because it's a form animal abuse. I know he loves animals, I don't know if he listened to me, lol.

  • If the chimp really wanted, he could kill that fat man in 5 minutes

  • Agh he reminds me of such a low level of human..!

  • Jim Cronin would turn in his grave...

  • I don't like this weirdo. Take those chimps away from him!

  • The chimps obviously don't like being trained for films.

Even if they aren't actively being beaten, they are still made to do un-natural things.

  • @AbsolutelyCrackers

    Okay Dr. Doolittle.

  • @Thorgnzorrg

    How did you know :O

  • BASTARD!

  • The narrator with the lovely accent sounds smart, but is a bit of a nob.

  • Auther is kind of a fool, I don't see how a human could out harm a chimp easily, those guys can fucking kill you, they're 3 times as strong in the upper body

  • Comment removed

  • Sure are.

  • ok erm retarded guy they wouldn't think wow i better back off he is a big fella no the chimp is thinking well if he piss's me off to much i am gonna rip off his arm and play base ball with it.

  • when my parents used to spank me that was fine, but when a guy training a chimp that has over 4 times the strength of a human does a little physical reinforcement he has to go to court. I'm the first person to talk to when saying that animal abuse is wrong, and i don't take favorites, but just thinking rationally, how else do you expect to train them. Your telling me that herding cows with a cattle prod is fine? Your saying that because cows are less intelligent their pain doesn't matter?

  • @coppersreno by herding cows we turn them into living tools.

  • @coppersreno HOw about NOT training them for OUR fun? What you're saying is there's no choice. There is. Chimps don't belong in movies or Hollywood. And no, cattle prods aren't fine, they're abuse. And spanking is ok? Me and a LOT of other people totally disagree with you.

  • @Saartje05 Do you mean spanking for children or for animals is wrong? I agree animals should not be abused if possible.

  • @TheMessengerGabriel Using chimps for movies is wrong. Spanking animals AND children is both wrong. ABuse.

  • @Saartje05 I agree using chimps and spanking them is wrong, they should be let to roam free, but I would like to ask for your information on how spanking children is abuse, what do you mean by spanking and I would like studies on the negatives (short term and longterm affects) and when and how it was used.

  • @TheMessengerGabriel There have been numerous researches about spanking and the negative results. If you want to know about it search for yourself I'm not your secretary.

  • @Saartje05 I have, and all the studies show spanking for children is only negative when the child does not understand what is the punishment for and when it's over used, in general those over 6 (which generally understand why they are being punished) are actually more successful and morally upright, the numerous findings it's bad is from the actually abusive parents who are ill educated in raising a child properly.

  • @TheMessengerGabriel That's bullshit. And spanking is always a bad example. Suppose your child hits another child and you spank your kid for that. How stupid is that? Telling your kid it shouldn't hit so you spank it.There's no need to spank a child. I don't say you don't have to punish it for what it did wrong, but spanking? Worst example for a kid ever. And there are loads of researches that proves spanking, in any way, is wrong.

  • @TheMessengerGabriel Looking at your name you've probably been raised with the bible and the bible says it's ok to hit a kid. Luckily we threw away that book generations ago.

  • @Saartje05 You have no logical argument and scientific research behind your post, I am completely disregarding it because it is completely biased. When you have information and a logical approach to a debate then you can reply to me. Otherwise you will not get anywhere with people with your approach, there is a reason spanking children will always be allowed, because people like you won't even give proper, informative arguments and look like a jerk.

  • @TheMessengerGabriel YOu don't have to post it twice. I can read your nonsense.

  • @Saartje05 You have no logical argument and scientific research behind your post, I am completely disregarding it because it is completely biased. When you have information and a logical approach to a debate then you can reply to me. Otherwise you will not get anywhere with people with your approach, there is a reason spanking children will always be allowed, because people like you won't even give proper, informative arguments and will make themselves look like a jerk.

  • @TheMessengerGabriel You mean there's a reason spanking is allowed in the US? Yeah, I can give you that reason, the bible. In several countries, f.i. Scandinavian countries, parents can go to jail for spanking. So apparently they DO understand what damage spaning can do to a child.

  • @TheMessengerGabriel

Spanked Children Have Less Gray Matter

While several studies in the past have alluded to the fact that spanking may reduce intelligence, this new study proclaims it as fact. Spanking creates stress, anxiety and fear and this can slow a child’s cognitive development. It can actually result in fewer neurons in the brain.

Google. Spanking has a negative effect on intelligence. Can't link on here.

  • @Saartje05 (Did not notice the other comments you made, sorry, I was not notified.)

for one, those who leave a mark on a child I would consider are going too hard, spanking should only be a sting not bruises and blood. Also in general those who were found to be with less gray matter lived in a society where everyone generally had LESS gray matter, A.K.A. less intelligent and not as good education and life style. Also I did not mean to post it twice, it must've glitched.

  • @TheMessengerGabriel Spare the rod and spoil the child is often stated by parents to justify spanking. But, could spanking actually be damaging to a child’s ability to learn? Spanking that leaves a mark may be considered physical child abuse in many states and could result in a parent losing parental rights and even going to jail.

  • @TheMessengerGabriel But, spanking may also affect children in their ability to learn in school. Murray Straus, leader of the recent University of New Hampshire in Durham study, says, "The practical side of this is that pediatricians and child psychologists need to start doing what none of them do now, and say, ‘Never spank under any circumstances.’"

  • @Saartje05 The issue is the fact that the variables are too many, you have too many factors that play in a child's education, morals, ethics and behavior. The people who abuse spanking usually are in a low quality environment in the first place, so spanking may not be as wrong as the parents are, spanking is a tool, good when used correctly and most parents who raise good children do spank but do it responsibly, it's just like any tool, dangerous in the wrong hands but can do good.

  • @TheMessengerGabriel When you spank a child it's just a sign of weakness. And what a coward a grown up must be to spank a child? Imagine you being 'spanked' by a guy or woman that's 9 foot tall? I bet you'd call the police immediately. But for an adult two times (or three times) taller than a child it's ok to spank because it's just a 'tool' to raise good children? Lol. Nice excuse, but no.

  • @Saartje05 In low class families where the life is low quality, rape, theft and murder is normal in their areas, they are generally abusive, and in the middle class and higher class you find them all spanking and yet their kids grow successful. Spanking is a disciplinary tool but when someone is abusive it's bad, and in general the children with low quality life were abused PAST spanking. How would it be cowardice if it keeps them from crime I would call that actually caring for their future.

  • @TheMessengerGabriel Lol. And they wonder why kids are so agressive in the US. Why do you believe spanking keeps them from crime? All the kids (now grown ups) I know were never spanked and all succesfull. The way you think it would mean all the kids in Scandinavia grow up to be criminals, lol. WEll I can tell you, they don't. Biggest criminals are in the US. Where kids get spanked.

  • @Saartje05 I can combat that because statistically, people spanked are more successful than those who are not. Also, since most people are spanked then of course there will be more criminals who were spanked than those who were not. But did spanking do it? Of course not, just because most people in America are white (60%) does not mean they are more likely to commit a crime, there are just more people, so some will do crimes relative to their personal choices, so that comment is irrelevant.

  • @TheMessengerGabriel More people does not mean more crime. That's not how it's been counted. It's a number of people on every hundred. So it doesn't matter how big or small a country is.

  • @Saartje05 So, I went to study vigorously on various studies different sizes and different places from different researchers. I decided that I actually see your side, disregard my other defenses though some of them made sense when it came to variables and how spanking may not be the main factor and is not always found in negative cases. In general physical punishment should be refrained from and especially not abuse, I was wrong and thank you for your time, :) .. sorry if I angered you. :/

  • @TheMessengerGabriel Everybody has the right to his/hers opinion. I'm not angry, just sorry for the kids who get spanked eventhough it's not necessary.

  • @Saartje05 I know, but all opinion should have a reason, and I was raised with spanking but my parents used it practically not at all but I felt I was raised fine. I understand that sympathy I have it too, because I know parents who are merciless with such punishments it's sad, I've worked with children and I've NEVER had to use any physical contact with them and they actually became the helpers of the community and were prime examples, just wanted to learn more. :)

  • @TheMessengerGabriel Spanking kids you're working with would take you to jail here. But the parents would probably lynch you first, lol. When I was in school as a kid, I'm talking primary school, I witnessed ONCE, a teacher lost control and hit a kid (not hard but hard enough). He almost lost his job. That was forty years ago. You were saying that spanking that doesn't leave marks isn't that bad, but you can practically kill a kid without leaving marks. That's the mean thing about it.

  • @Saartje05 Yeah, lol, I wouldn't want to hurt the child and I'd probably be arrested myself if I ever did, ah, I've heard about things that practically kill without marks, it is terrible. :/

  • @TheMessengerGabriel There ya go.

  • @coppersreno Positive reinforcement trumps negative reinforcement any day. Just ask any psychologist.

  • @coppersreno Maybe if we have to resort to physical violence to train chimpanzees we shouldn't be fucking training them.

  • Tee: You have no issues with calling GWB a 'chimp,' and no offense is taken. Yet, when we compare Obama to a chimp, it is wrong?

There is some disconnect here. I am not taking sides, but in my country we are guaranteed the Right to Freedom of Speech. No compromises.

The ape looks more like Obama! Let's see what happens now.

  • awesome comment... your 100% right. Nice to see someone actualy say something like that. In today world its ok and not even thought twice when I remark like the GWB one is fine (i could careless about this statement, just using the quick example cause its here and you addressed it) but if someone made the very same comment, didnt change a single letter, or word in the statement except switch GWB with Obama, that night you would see al sharpton on tv running his mouth sounding like a moron

  • Comment removed

  • The chimp does look like Bush, and it doesn't look like obama at all. It would be offensive to call Obama a chimp because it's known to be a racial slur used by racists to insult blacks. Calling bush a redneck, white trash, or a cracker would be the equivalent to calling Obama a chimp. Those are racially motivated insults and jokes. Saying that bush looks like a chimp, isn't racially motivated. It's just plain true.

  • @aliveinsd The difference is that calling a white man a chimp doesn't carry with it the negative connotations that were fostered by hundreds of years of slavery and discrimination.

  • @aliveinsd That ape looks more like your mother, who is probably your aunt as well.

    Cultural context matters.

  • cheetah the chimp, most famous of all-

  • His chimpanzees were taken from and he can not ever own another chimp. He was caught abusing them.....

  • Sid isn't a real hollywood animal trainer. I wouldn't judge the professionals by this guy.

  • ok... if he were beating these animals he would of been attacked by one by now.

  • These animals weigh around 250 lbs,I think when people are complaining of abuse, is that in their minds he is hitting a human toddler, with the force he is using to control these powerful animals.I would like to see training without hitting, but don't necessarily think it is abuse, simply because these animals are this guys bread and butter,he can't afford to hurt them.

  • An intelligent response, indeed! You are absolutely correct. A young and trainable chimp can cost as much as $45K. It is foolish of the "Chimpophiles" to suggest the apes are beaten/killed. Those apes are the man's income. He wouldn't injure them. Actually, you would need a lead baseball-bat to injure a chimp. They are very sturdy animals. Solid muscle. Even a 1-2 year old animal can do severe damage if not controlled.

  • Dude beats the animals and you write this bullshit? Do some research before making an unintelligent response, eh?

  • @stepAKApets Fear is a powerful thing, it can distort your perception of things, and it makes things like this very complicated. Aggression isn't the only result of abuse, you know.

  • I think this hick considers the chimps his own slaves who, like he says, sometimes need some discipline. one day they'll tear his face off just like that other chimp who was forced to 'humanize'

  • you see where the chimp is smiling this is a sign of fear in a chimp he must beat them this is cruelty! i do not agree with any humanizing of chimp whats so ever! even if it is good! they should stop cutting down the rainforests and leave them in the wild!

  • He had 3 of his Chimpanzees taken away from him Dec. 2006, because he abused them. Do you believe he would be mean to them in front of the camera? From what I understand there is a video of him hitting them, intimidating them. There is nothing right about that.......

  • No, I do not believe that chimps should be removed from natural environment to be used as entertainment. But, if the chimp is already here, and tamed, Sid Yost would be the best person to train them. He has experience and knowledge beyond the rantings of PETA et al. Who would be foolish enough to beat a $45K animal to death. No. He is simply training, and training is not always sugar and spice. Discipline is part of training, person or animal.

  • u do realize that u have absolutly no idea whatsoever wat u r saying. u cannot say that u cant hurt a chimp. animal trainers can make elephants cower. the way they train the elephants is repeatedly hitting them with cowhooks. chimps are much smaller. Now, do u really think u can train a chimp with positive reinforcement. trainers have trouble with it in DOGS chimps are smart and can think of many ways to outsmart humans.

  • to add to that: The trainers have to make them fear them in order to be able to control them. Do u think thats positive reinforcement???

    This was towards aliveinsd.

i absolutly appreciate u ppl who say he is not fit to own a chimp.

  • Nah, if he was beating the chimp, it would have shown in the video. That chimp looked like he enjoyed doing things for the guy. A beat chimp would be looking pretty unhappy and would probably have an attitude.

  • I think as long as he is taking good care of the chimp, playing with the chimp and not beating the chimp or making it fearful of him I think it's fine. what he demonstrated in this video seems fine. though sometimes they can hide alot. he may be more physical with no camera's around. who knows.

  • Not exactly sure why the earpeice? I guess he may be expecting a really important call during the interview. Or maybe he also works for the Secret Service. I know....he's an extremely important neurosurgeon on call. You know....really; there are two types: those of us who don't wear them in public....and those who just don't know better......the 3rd generation beeper geeks from the 80's.

  • A "big fellow"? Those chimps are probably stronger than this guy. Chimps are way stronger than the average guy.

  • wait a min, did he just drink from the same bottle as that chimp? WTF?

  • he SPANKS his monkey! there's no beating on a chimp. he was right...Bam Bam strength. you don't beat on a chimp...the chimp beats on your face!

  • Seems like the lower of these two primates and lesser moral of these primates is the fat ass in the blue bra

  • Exactly 10000 views, haha. I've never seen 4 zeroes before.

  • every chimp lover type in pankun fireman training and watch the video there are some messed up things there

  • i don't think that chimp is sad or something. by the way it had shirt like humans but no shoes. maybe because hard shoes hurt chimps foots. but some stupid guys wear chimps with shoes

  • Humans are uncontested World Champs! We are the most extraordinary species on this planet. That being said, could we make just a little space to let the lesser creatures live alone and unmolested? True, apes do live longer, healthier lives in captivity than wild. But, is captive existence "life" at all? They suffer a cruel similarity to us--not their fault.

  • They don't always live "happier healthier lives"... But zoos or stuff who do take care of them and encourage natural WILD behaviour I do agree with.

  • I think you guys need to calm down. This chimp is probably fed well, loved ad taken care of. in the wild there is a good chance it would have died by now. I know it was "supposed to be" in the wild, but they are murderous and territorial out there. I really don't think it's that bad. is it animal cruelty to have a dog as a pet and discipline them, or a horse? the only thing that is somewhat sad is that the chimp might be lonely?

  • This is a tragedy.......

  • Wild animals belong in the wild!! This is exploitation in the worst form. What happens when a chimp acts like a chimp instead of doing a "human" thing the trainer wants? Where do they go when they so strong they can't be handled? They should never be where they are now...they should be with their families in the forest. Let's grab some humans and teach them to be chimps!

  • As long as they are actually being taken care of and being encouraged to act naturally I think it's okay to keep them in zoos or something. But you're right. Chimps aren't people. They don't think or function the way we do. To try to force them to be humans is probably pretty confusing to them. Like smiling. To us it means we're happy; to them it means "get lost or I'll kill you."

  • WilliamGRyan

Here is just an example of proof that I have that PEOPLE HAVE TO BEAT THESE ANIMALS TO DO WHAT THEY WANT THEM TO DO..

bobby berosini, Sid Yost, Josh weinstein, and hey you can check them on out YouTube!! They are wonderful human beings.

  • You NEVER have to BEAT an animal to make it do what you want it to do. EVER!

  • Well I spank my monkey to do what I want it to do and that always works.

  • Yeah but I bet you eat processed chicken.

  • Apollo, one of the chimpanzees later died of a rattlesnake bite...

  • Who is 'they' and would you mind posting some proof? These chimps are often domestically bred. Better with Yost then in a lab or starving to death. Just b/c a chimp lives in the wild doesn't mean it's happy or well off.

I'd like to see them thrive in a natural environment and I hate seeing them used as actors-but IMHO, as long as our side's proponents make comments like the one above, we'll always be marginalized. Childish insults and unproven accusations will never win the masses to our side

  • I wouldnt be suprised if the animals were as smart as humans, but they hid it to not get into war with the pity humans. ;)

  • why would holly ud care if chims r good to make movies or at least make a movie with a chimp hmmmm... hahahhaahahha

  • CHimps shouldn't be in this situation period. We do not need Chimps in videos. They should be able to be free... they're too smart to be put in cages

  • I agree. But with habitat destruction/wars going on in much of their habitat, it becomes very complex. Starving to death is horrific. Goodall and others noted, infanticide/cannibalism increase when food supplies diminish or territories overlap. They sadly live in an area where pretty much everything is faces a horrific future full of suffering. Until that changes, it's hard to say where's best for them. Having your baby killed & eaten by another chimp is hardly the dream life for them either.

  • Some of these things are natural population control. It seems brutal to us, but if they all lived, even in untouched habitats a lot more would die from starvation or disease or they would decamate a different species. Zoos should just take the smaller weaker ones to save them as long as they're actually having a good life. Not the strongest healtiest ones.

  • "Chimps are people too" Yet this guy sells them off to Hollywood like another product, depriving them of their life joy and needs. I bet he beats them too, it's a common practice for all of these animal "trainers". I've seen people beat tigers, what makes you think he won't do it to these chimps?? If he really cared about them, he would set them free, or at the very least, in a sanctuary...

  • To be honest, I just think your a poof.

When people bring up their kids, they smack them, so that they don't do a bad thing again. We know it works. Thats why you see Chavs roaming the streets of today becuase parents don't diciplince their children. The same with Dogs or cats when you train them not to piss all over the carpet. You rub their face in their mess so they don't do it again. Rick does the same with the chimps, Of course he has to dicipline them, Their Hoolywood chimps.

  • If you think those are good methods of upbringing, then fine. I must admit I'm sorry for your potential pets and/or kids if you are going to "smack" them all the time, but that is your business unfortunately. "Of course he has to dicipline them, Their Hoolywood chimps." The only reason they are "Hollywood Chimps" in the first place, is because humans use them for money. Do you really think they are where they are by free will? It's slavery. They get beat into making money for already rich people

  • I of course understand what you are saying, But you can't release an already domesticated animal, it will definatley die. Would you realse your cat or dog, Would you release your child into some forest with no clothes or food becuase you know they will fend themselves, No. The probability of survival in the wild is much lower than a domestic life. They are much safer and happier in a life like this. Also, are they hurt or exposed by the way they are being used in hollywood? Ahh 500 characters...

  • The tragic part is when they mature and must leave their human family. Other than the sanctuaries and more isolated parts of the jungle, life can be pretty brutal for 'free' chimps. Years ago it was different, but now it's not black and white about where is best for them.

We won't win people over by being ugly or making unsubstantiated accusations. If you have proof, present it to the authorities. If you don't, such claims hurt us b/c the other side brushes off all criticism as baseless.

  • Chimps are not people. They are not so stupid.

  • LEAVE ALL ANIMALS ALONE!!!...........dumbasses!

  • Is there more to this video?

  • I can't even remember the last time I saw a movie with a chimp in it. Well, I can but I try not to.

  • i doubt he wud beat a chimp who is far stronger than him. if he hurt it, itd fight back and maybe even kill him. they see violence, they act violent.

  • yeah, listen to skoda, humans evolved from a primate that is long gone. chimps and humans probably do, however, share an ancestor. its probably not one of the more recent ancestors, but one of our distant ancestors connect us to chimpanzees.

  • No prominent scientist has ever claimed that human derived from chimps. Only that they derived from apes. A species of apes that probably doesn't exist anymore, because it has become US..

It only shows that chimps are from a more or less related branche. We are no totally independantly evolved species. Such species doesn't exist.

  • Poolios

  • "Do you beat your chimps up?"... "No, you see what you see" Your hardly gonna go round knockin 10 tons of shit out the Chimp when you got a BBC Camera in your face you daft YANK haha.

  • agrreeed he didnt answer in a positive light but a defensive response...

    CHIMP BEATER DIE!!

  • No matter how you do it, you're depriving that chimp of its happiness. Chimps want to eat, sleep, play, and fuck other chimps. That's what God made them for. When primates reach sexual maturity they cannot be deprived of the opposite sex of their species.

I boycotted the Ringling Bros. Circus because they use animals. British circuses got rid of the animals and they're still fun to watch.

  • No they didn't, chimps evolved form other mammals!

There is nothing wrong with this.

  • Well its hrad to make good people out of people. BUT FUCK HOW CAN YOU DO GOOD PEOPLE OUT OF CHIMPS!
