yea it seems like a reference to an abortion. I mean, initially people will suggest it so you don't ruin your life and yet many people regret having an abortion afterwards and it could be the breaking point for relationships. Even if it's not an abortion it looks like two adults passing on the guilt to one another or maybe the little thing is a "touchy subject" and they were just joking about it at first but it escalated into them attacking each other's flaws or morals.
