Im not Chinese, but I do know something about global mythology and the Serpents are mentioned in Chinese mythology spanning at least the last few thousand years. In fact, if you count the statues of half-dragon people, the legends would date to at least 6000 years.
So IF the stories where copied, they are likely from a source older than either Hindus or Chinese.
The cult of the naga race also is one of the oldest in india dating back to earliest times, however it is interesting that that their are differences between the indian version and the chinese.
