  • Brings back childhood memories of Van Cortlandt Park (I lived in the neighboring Riverdale). Though I can't say they've changed radically.

  • The R62s are great cars but what really made NYC was the graffiti trains and the red birds. Man do i miss those trains

  • Too bad there are no videos of the 9 train on YouTube. Only pictures.

  • i used to live there in the late 70 . thank,s

  • wow how the store fronts have changed in just the past 14 years!!! I never knew there was a gas station up on 231 st before the Dunkin Donuts, that one came outta no where.

  • jeez the 1 line will never change...

  • @koolmazin I like the r62s on the 1. i'd like to see the r142s on the 7 line though.

  • me too i can hardly wait to see an R142 pop up on the 7 line they already got them in the corona yard i think for sure

  • @koolmazin yea I saw a video of an r142 in the yard.

  • @Vrijjid1 dont worry the r142a are coming soon to the 7 and the r62a to the 6

  • @junjun798 i think the R62a's are also going on the 4 line

  • @noreaga12326 YES SIR 80 SETS

  • @junjun798 thats great because the new trains dont look good in the subway system, especially on the 4 line. The 4 line looks a lot better with the R62s or anything older than that

  • @noreaga12326 They looked best with the R62A's and the redbirds R33ml

  • @junjun798 thats true too

  • @noreaga12326 The first sets for the r188 will come into service on the 7 this fall along with R62A's on the 6 hope this helps bro :)

  • @junjun798 thanks for that info bro. Although im not crazy about new cars coming on to the 7 line, i like the fact that the older cars will be back on the 4 and 6 lines. as i said b4, these new cars look HORRIBLE on the subway line. have a good night

  • @noreaga12326 k bro have a good night

  • this was a time when the subway fare was $1.50 and now its $2.25! in a matter of 13 years, the fare went up 75 cents!

  • @DrSurprise No at this time it was a $1.25. It wasn't a 1.50 until 1997.

  • @bronxrell

    the fare was $1.25 from January 1, 1992 to November 11, 1995 then from November 12, 1995 to May 3, 2003, it was $1.50

  • @DrSurprise 2.50 now

  • Great video! I remember the times watching the 1/9trains in the Bronx. Cause my Aunts lived in the Bronx. This video brings back memories!

  • i miss the 9 train :(

  • Skip stop pwned, but the people at the local stops got pissed off when the train bypassed their stop.

  • I like the skip stop service route.

  • In this video it was year 1996.I saw new york city buses, cars, and new york city subway.I saw the R62's oprating on the 1 line. The 1 line was on the skip stop service route. The #1skipped some station and stopped at some station. It the best video ever. I remember the 1 line was on the skip stop service before but know it makes all stops after #9 was discountinued.I been on the 1/9 skip stop service before.I will always remember 1/9 skip stop service forever.

  • btw, thanks for posting this peice of history!

  • oh cool! but just one thing, didnt they have the redbrid trains back then?

  • they got rid of the redbirds in the early 2000s so yes they did in those years. the last time ive been on a redbird was 2001.

  • last time i been on a redbird was 2002 and that was on the 7

  • Atually all of them didn't start retirement until mid 2001-late 2003.

  • oh thx

  • yes but mostly r62a

  • @DrSurprise Not on the (1) in 1996. Only on the 2,4,5,6 and 7.
