I agree that marriage as a civic institution should be completely abolished. It should only be a "sacrament", or personal committment ceremony for us non-believers. It's just that gay people want equal treatment, and to many in the gay community getting marriage rights seems a more reacheable goal than abolishing civil marriage altogether.
There is a lot of testimony from lawyers about how they have to jump through hoops crafting hundreds of documents and spending thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours trying to give gay couples all these different legal protections such as inheritance/kinship, parentage, funerary rights, power of attorney, etc. just to confer on gay couples something akin to the protections and rights marriage automatically would, and it inevitably still falls short.

Your first argument is not logically sound. If you cannot deny gays the right to marry how can you possibly deny polygamists the right to marry, especially if they're consenting adults? Legalized polygamy was practiced in many if not most parts of the world for thousands of years (and it still is in many places).
Legalizing gay marriage will definitely bring polygamy to the forefront, esp. as Muslims become a significant part of the population. Count on it.

There is a lot of testimony from lawyers about how they have to jump through hoops crafting hundreds of documents and spending thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours trying to give gay couples all these different legal protections such as inheritance/kinship, parentage, funerary rights, power of attorney, etc. just to confer on gay couples something akin to the protections and rights marriage automatically would, and it inevitably still falls short.

jungian, what is really scary is when people quit trying to find what is right and wrong and instead say everything is fine. That is what is really scary. If you want to argue that homosexuality is not a sin, do it if you want to argue that murder is not a sin, then do it. But you say there is nothing that is wrong. If that's the case, then nothing is right either. Nothing is worth defending or fighting for. But you are fighting.... that in itself says your'e lying.

What I have seen is that people who intentionally speak tons of words, especially quotes from a spiritual guru, are usually intentionally making no sense. It's that sort of hypnotic state of life no life, wrong no wrong that they seek to instill. Like maybe after we have heard enough of complete nonsense we'll praise you that you can make sense of it. hmmm. how many times have you been in a public place and seen a restroom that says" GAYS ONLY" personally, i never have. Jesus Christ never mentions homosexuality once. Plus, as a follower of Christ, you are expected to be on the outside of the norm. There are no laws against having any gods before your lord, nor are there any laws against respecting your parents or coveting your neighbors wife. Christians really need to back off homosexuality if they want to bear witness, and love as Christ did

Your first argument is not logically sound. If you cannot deny gays the right to marry how can you possibly deny polygamists the right to marry, especially if they're consenting adults? Legalized polygamy was practiced in many if not most parts of the world for thousands of years (and it still is in many places).
Legalizing gay marriage will definitely bring polygamy to the forefront, esp. as Muslims become a significant part of the population. Count on it.

I don't care it polygamy is legal or not, it's not my argument. Only, I fail to see, why this should be an argument. Homosexuals getting married, the rule of 2 people getting married still applies. Personally, I believe you can't be in love with more than one person at a time and that's what marriage should be based on. But, I have never been in that situation so I can't truly say. I am for polygamy, incestial and homosexual marriage. Afterall it won't affect me in the slightest. Be openminded.

Why should we consider anything in the bible just because Leviticus 18:22 says it's wrong. Leviticus also says if anyone touches the skin of a dead pig, they are unclean - which, in essence, should be banning football.
The bible also authorizes the selling of your daughter, into slavery - yet, I don't see anyone in America doing that.

pigskin- i don't remember learning that, but even if it is true, unclean does not mean not allowed. nowadays, no one is "clean", according to the Bible. you're also unclean if you come in close contact to a dead person, but even in the olden times, people did get near to dead bodies, they just made themselves clean later.selling your daughter into slavery: the times were extremely different it was normal. and there are rules on how you have to treat slaves with more respect than yourself.

Well, you obviously didn't study your Bible hard enough, trust me, it's in there. "the times were extremely different" - Exactly, we can't live by the Bible, times have changed and you can't say "well slavery that's different" and then say "the bible says homosexuality is sin" You choose to follow it all, or none of it. you cannot compare slavery and homosexuality in this case. the Bible does not say anywhere that you have to have slaves. it was merely giving rules to dictate the fair treatment of slaves, because it didn't want people to go around murdering their slaves or something just as atrocious. on the other hand it says deliberately you are not allowed to have homosexual relations. you can still follow all the Bible without having slaves, but you cannot followall Bible the while having gay relations.

there is a logic that goes with punishment and blessing in the Bible. "a deed for a deed" this means you get punished or blessed according to how you act. now, a murderer deprives one of the right to live. according to the bible the murderer is killed for killing. his sin has nothing to do with marriage. also, it is not written anywhere that the punishment of being homosexual is that you are not allowed to marry. it only says that two men or women cannot have sexual relations together.

I never said you were a Christian, but the Bible is what Christians follow. The title is logic and argument against gay marriage - I don't think the Bible should be brought into it. in accordance to planting the seeds, it was referring to planting seeds to make a new plant, like nectarines. not just planting them in the same field. its supposed to be a show of consentment i guess to G-d that we're happy with what he gave us. also, that and the the thing with not making clothes of the strings were written to prevent some of the more disgusting acts of paganism. You should also realise, the Bible was not written by God but man. It contradicts itself and we don't follow every rule in the Bible. Do you stone your child if he/she is unruly? The Bible should not be brought into the argument. Christianity is a faith, God can't be proven and it is a faith not every chooses to live by so it should have no affect on laws.
