My two cents...Here in Brazil the federations are more and more eliminating the advantage points that the BJiujitsukas have upon the vast majority of judokas...The last I heard is that attacks on the legs, such as morote gari, are not alowed anymore during competition, I do not know if it is a worldwide thing...I love judo and appreciate BJJ very much...Just don't think that by eliminating some of "traditional judo" points is the way to regain newaza advantage... Should try some Kosen Judo....

By the way... The skillful Canto's ground game is also due to the fact that he cross-train in BJJ...

@EddieMoreira7 It's nothing to do with the CBJ, it is a IJF deliberation: direct attacks to the legs are prohibited. It is nice that this affects Canto game very little because all his throws/takedowns can be done without attacking the legs. Heck! Kata-guruma is now a prohibited technique, and that was a technique that Canto himself adapted to win over bigger opponents without spending too much strength. IJF is ruining Judo, they're blind. Eliminate all these penalties and let the fight go on!

@loudenvier OMG! I've said Katagurua was a technique Canto himself adapted.... I was trying to say it was a tehcnique KANO (the father of Judo) himself adapted... The current arrogant IJF administration made a throw that the founder of Judo spent a lot of time perfectioning into an illegal technique!!! Maybe they know better than the founder...

Wow just wow, thats a HORRID ref. Most calls were just totally off. She should be banned. Judo doesnt need to emphasize newaza, but this ref was calling matte for no reason.

I just don't know why the western referees are calling maite so fast... That's why so many western Judo schools are so weak in newaza.
