  • Good god I hate this song so much, but I'll give props for a sick groove.

  • Funkgasm!

  • I play bass, and practice on this track. Thanks!

  • see great groove: /watch?v=sTMjT6YsyXk

  • he reminds me a little of simon philips in this video(or the other way around)... cause he just don't care if he has to play lead with his right or left hand... he just does it... damn that's awesome

  • awesome and insane? Trust me, I've played funk for most of my adult life. The groove is what you have to be ABLE to play. If you can't groove, then all the awesome and insane is just insane. These guys are not showing off. They are recording the drum and bass lines for the whole song for your benefit. Too many young players are only able to play insanely. We in the business either don't hire them or we fire them.

  • I'm lucky enough to have the album " Pick Hits Live" with these two guys playing live with John Scofield. It has , in my opinion, some of Chambers's best drumming.

  • This is as good as David Jones drumming it in James Morrison's Scream Machine DVD. Amazing take of this song.

  • tht bass players like this is getting gay lets do something awsome and insane

  • I watched that hi-hat trick at 2:17 quite a few times.

    Amazing groove.

  • thats fuuunky fo yo ass baby!!

  • "Droppin` the biscuits" at 2:34 Sweet!

  • Orgasmatron...

  • lol thumbs up if you started to sing the other instruments at the beginning

  • This is funking drumming!

  • i'm very aroused

  • damn.

  • aaahhh fukk

  • That...was groovy.

  • the king...

  • Gary Grainger's face is really funny in this! He's having so much fun playing that bass riff. His smile at 1:18 is hilarious.

  • WOW

just when i was thinking to myself..."Chambers can be a bit of a robot sometimes, but i guess he is just trying to show us the studio version of the Chameleon beat. Maybe he could mix it up a bit??".....THEN BOOM he unleashes the funk....

love that ridiculous on handed role on the HH at around 2:17

  • Nicely done........

  • dennis master of grooves no one like him

  • WOW! i'm watching this thinking alright good groove when is it gonna pick up? then i get to 1:46 and it blows my mind. Great video great post

  • Now THAT is drumming none of that neal peart nonsense

  • @Cbdr17 you got that right, Peart is the most ordinary average drummer...the luckiest guy on the face of the earth.

  • tight as hell!

  • Hail to these native B-more Hall of Funk - Masters of Funk! Dude, great post!!

  • Doesn't get much groovier than that!

  • so clean and smooth

  • Now that's what I call: "In The Fuckin' Pocket". DAMN!!!

  • yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss man in da pocket tight nd right

  • Oh yeah, that's definitely THE groove!!!

  • for Drakett, at 1:50 he's using a technique called linear playing, where you only play in an open space only one drum at a time whether it be bass drum, snare or hi hat

  • i really liked that part of the video to the end i wish i do that, how d o i go about learning to play like that? the linear

  • Comment removed

  • omg from 1:50 on what the heck is he doing it sounds so good, i gues its syncopation and such..

  • how can i learn to do what chambers is doing.... thats sick..

  • Practice until you're hands hurt!

  • that dont help or im no doing it right lol

  • What he meant to say was practice until your hands hurt everyday, and go back in time so you can do it again.

  • Practice doesn't help unless you are doing right and you keep challenging yourself.

What he is doing is using clean doubles and syncopating rhythms. Either get a really good teacher and then practice..... A LOT. -OR- check some educational drum videos and then practice..... A LOT

  • Well, there's no 'right' way to practice, but you have to challenge yourself alright.

  • Well if you are practicing something that sounds right, but isn't technically right, then you develop a wrong technique and it doesn't help at all.

  • awesome groove

  • Im learning this drumming...the section with the open hi hat is much harder than it looks. Im not doing any of the later more complex stuff. lol. Lov the vid.

  • ah i love it man!!

  • get the album pickhits john schofield.awsome

  • strait funky! go man go

  • j'adore ce morceaux

  • This is freaking awesome!

  • Blackness Confirmed

  • The only guy who even comes CLOSE to Dennis is Carter from DMB!!

  • You sir need some Tony Williams, Will Kennedy, and Vinnie Colaiuta in your life. Both drummers you mentioned are good, but there's much more than the two of them.

  • I have seen Vinnie live with Sting. I also have seen Will live with The Yellowjackets. And Tony is a LEGEND!!! I was refering to Dennis and Carters ambidextrious abilities. Not that they are the ONLY drummers that are amazing.

  • Ah, I can dig it.

  • Antonio Sanchez anyone?

  • Man he is something. I must say though, I don't like his recorded stuff near as much as what I've heard come from him live. Maybe it's the experience or something, but that is one drummer you MUST get out and see.

  • @spyderj1999 Or Ronald Bruner or Tony Royster Jr.

  • the most skilled drummer in the world, is simply amazing, go dennis

  • hey funkrock94 you're damn right!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    dennis is the groove

  • this guys show me what the groove is

  • this is real drumming...amazing feel...when he goes between the dark crash and the high hat and then the ride and the high hat its sick...amazing syncopation

  • whats amazing is that he actually traces the original drumming exactly until the slap part

he really did love that drumming

    amazing drummer

  • oh my god this video is sooo great.

And it's sad, that obviously stupid blastbeat and doublebass videos get more attention than this...

  • I love how they acknowledge each other and smile. You can tell that they are having fun. That is the way music should be.

  • filthy

  • i have never heard a bass player and a drummer being so locked in together before like dennis and Gary......ITS SICK

  • but the interview at the beginning is so lame and funny

  • Haha, true, this guy looks like some serious nerd ;) But playin kicks some butt, they aint taking any POW ;)

  • yeeeeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEES!

  • This is funk...

  • YES! i love the two dvds he released. Serious moves and in the pocket great dvds
