@gooderson1 Because Busquets is the only defensive midfielder Spain has. Alonso is a deep-playmaker, Xavi and Iniesta are attacking midfielders, Pedro and Villa are strikers/wingers. Del Bosque knew he needed a defensive midfielder, and Busquets is one of the best in the world, just heavily undervalued.

@TingaSick You fail to understand. It's not Spain's fault they only win 1-0, while Germany win 4-1, Argentina 3-0, etc. It's Spain's opponent's fault. Spain plays possession football, and their opponents throw everyone behind the ball. A team can be the best in the world, but playing against 10 defenders and a goalie is a near impossible task. Spain was scoring freely in Euro 2008, but then teams wised up to their tactics... and only lost 1-0.

I am FCB fan, and Spain too, I like much Puyol, but have to agree, Casillas didn't faul Robben, but he could fall before and get red card for him and a free kick... its unfair, but eventually I think Spain was better, but Netherlands deserve on 2nd place by 100%, Robben is one of best players on this Cup, if not the best, really awesome good team builded, unknown players but play this team is so good

@GForce429 1. What did iniesta do to vanbommel? do you mean when he push vbommel after receiving kicks and kicks??!! It's a miracle that the response from Iniesta was only to push him. And it is a shame that the referee allowed vbommel to finish the game. Even the possible red card to puyol was an action in which he just holds the holland player; you cannot compare it to the unfair kicks by DeJon and vBommel.

@TingaSick if thats a red card for puyol what about de jong he practically pulled a sparta on him. you must admit holland played very ruff and it wasn't because spain were diving cause the fouls were real fouls and allot of contact was made. When puyol fell he didnt tackle robben and even if it was a foul it was clearly not in the box so holland wouldnt have gotten a penalty.The last thing i want to do is fight with you but you cant be a sore loser about this match.

iniesta should be gone off, for making a schwalbe (heitinga barely touched him, (and if it was a card, then why was puyol still on the field?) and for hitting van bommel. and you can't deny that it was strange that holland didn't get a corner when sneijder shot right into the wall...

You will see that if a player commits a foul, under direct free kicks (which includes holding or attempting to hold an opponent) with excessive force, then that player is to be sent off. And Puyol clearly used excessive force, seeing as he still tried to hold Robben back, even while he (Puyol) was falling.

@utdfortreble then you didnt watch the match, in the first 10 minutes of the game robben was tru on goal, puyol took him out from behind with to legs, that is a deep red card, what did webb do nothing, then van bommel and de jong started playing like you see above, webb said in a interview that this was his worst game, he said that in the first 15 minutes spain hat to have 1x red 2x yellow, the dutch 3x yellow. but he didnt do shit

@gooderson1 Because Busquets is the only defensive midfielder Spain has. Alonso is a deep-playmaker, Xavi and Iniesta are attacking midfielders, Pedro and Villa are strikers/wingers. Del Bosque knew he needed a defensive midfielder, and Busquets is one of the best in the world, just heavily undervalued.
