I agree it's courageous of zizek to point out the atrocity of the Israeli/Palestinian situation, but he certainly wasn't the first. Although Chomsky and Finklestein and Said likely weren't the first, they've been writing about it for years and years.

My salute to zizek bravery, the first western thinker who addresses the Palestinian issue and talk about the criminality of the state of Israel with such fearless commitment to the Palestinian rights and justice away from the biased cliché of current western media ..if only there's a lot like you zizek lots of things would've changed .

i am sympathetic with your comment, but don't forget, what he points out is that ALL states are founded upon a violent act. it is just, he says, that Israel was founded a few centuries too late, so we are witnessing a battle to create such a founding myth that would legitimate such violence. most interestingly, perhaps, is that with a two state solution, that myth will have two versions.
