  • That is a fat fucking needle.

  • I can't donate blood because of my beliefs

  • pff i didnt get a needle to numb the pain! pshh, but it wasnt that bad, the needle just looks scary hehe, check out my channel and watch my video of my first time goin!

  • Donating for the 2nd time in 2 days, and honestly, the needle isn't that big, it's not that painful to be honest; the initial pain of it going in is a bit painful, but after that it's plain sailing. And expect some bruising on your arm a few days afterwards..

  • @XIXN3M3ZISXIX you cant give twice in 2 days....

  • Donating blood tomorrow at my school

  • I donated blood yesterday.

  • What is with the needles? Ask for a gun and bucket.

  • interesting that they use anaesthesia. Here in the US, we don't get that.

  • @thatUkrainianguy why would we need it? its not like they're cutting open the arm. its a simple stick. i say this, but i'm deathly terrified of needles.

  • i donated blood a few weeks ago and it hurt a little but it was worth it :)

  • It really doesn't hurt, and for the sake of 15 minutes you could save 3 lives. Everybody should donate blood, it's very satisfying.

  • Plus you get a free cookie.

  • @sgtwok i got a free milkshake and cookies lol

  • fuck in scare as fuck, im still gonna do it tho... shit im so scare. i have two days left

  • I had cancer 11 years ago and they wont let me donate and Im yearning to donate to pay back some of the blood I used up in my major operation. Anyone know a away around this ?

  • Not to sound selfish, I WILL NEVER DONATE BLOOD, I have a bad history with needles.

Please don't flame me, I know it saves lives and I would do alot to save one, but I just don't do blood. I would faint when they show the needle

  • @ThingsAllElectronic I have a semi-similar reaction to needles. Just don't look. It doesn't hurt much. The paperwork is the most painful part.

  • Yup, here in Portugal the needle is about the same size. I still have the fucking bruise from it (donated blood 2 days ago).

But if it saves a life, a bruise is the least that matters to me :)

  • I'm planning to donate my blood to Philippine Red Cross.

  • OMG If im older i would NEVER donate blood cuz it rlly hurts badly AND i was watching it while eating ewwwww

  • Oh WTF!!!!! This huge needle made me want to cancel my plan of donating next week :(

  • I hate huge needles :( they hurt lol.

  • wow thats not that bad I had to take a blood test once and they filled like 4 of those bags with my blood

  • That little iron test (where they snap the spring and it makes your finger bleed), it's not a pinch. It hurt quite a bit more than I expected.

  • wow, you guys are pussies... It doesn't hurt worse than getting a flu shot or whatever.

  • Man that fucking needle...

  • Your blood was coming out really slowly...how much water did you have to drink? I know mine was like that the first time I donated.

  • @jlh945 The organizations that do blood collection have to recoup the costs of collecting, testing, processing, and distributing the blood. Everywhere I've lived, the organization that collects blood in that area is either the American Red Cross or they are a not-for-profit organization. There are some for-profit organizations that collect plasma for manufacturing purposes but then they pay their donors.

  • In Australia they do not give you anestheitc first they just stick in that huge needle!

  • @SuperFogarty1 The finger stick is usually the part that hurts.

  • i gave blood for the first time in march and for some odd reason the lady made me lay down instead of sitting up (apparently she left me like that while giving blood). So me and a few of my friends had to wait 2 hours just to give blood. I have type A-positive blood and i'm the only one in my family who can give blood. One of my friends who were with me has type O negative and another had half a pint taken and it was discarded because the lady couldn't find his vein.

  • Even when I hate needles, I still wanna be helpful donating blood. This happened at my high school after my 15th birthday.

  • I donated blood for thee first time yesterday.i never received any anesthesia, but for a while the nurse couldnt find a vein, once found it i just relaxed but when the bag was nearly full the nurse said it had stopped so another nurse had to come and hold the needle in till the end i felt nothing and it was totally fine until he pulled the needle out annd i hit the sweats and felt sick and faint, after laying with my head lower than my feet in the recovery position and having juice i was fine.

  • I did the exact same thing before my surgury like a year or two ago, They used the same stuff and watching this makes me woozy lol

  • Holy shit, that's a huge needle!

  • lol it hurts like hell for 1 minute when they poke the blood vein doing it my second time tomorrow.

  • I want to donate blood but I'm scared it will hurt like hell!

  • @Matthew2400 I've donated on and off since 1973. (There was a long period in there where I lived in places where they never actively solicited donors, then I was deferred for meds, then they updated the list of meds you can take and still donate.) It stings going in but about 90% of the time all there is is a vague sensation. If you're nervous about seeing needles, they generally hide the needle but I have looked when they filled the sample tubes.

  • OMFG your not getting your blood drawn in China are you!?!? I heard that there are rising AIDs and HIV cases because of the non regulated blood transfusion and drawing of blood.

  • @sacura605 IIRC, the poster is in Singapore. They're doing American-style universal precautions. The process in Singapore even includes an anesthetic to deaden the sting of the main needle. They still get the one that hurts, the finger stick, without anesthetic. Back in the 1970s when I was in college, the finger sticks hurt a lot more, the spring-powered lancets they use now are better.

  • @nataliemm19 I've donated 22 times and usually just a transient sting. If you can survive the finger stick that's usually the worst part. I have had a couple where it stung the whole time and that was NOT fun.

  • can i ask for a smaller needle?i want to give blood this week but im scared that if they put that in me im going to freak

  • @nataliemm19 Sounds like a good plan. I'd like to donate blood at the local blood bank here in Snohomish or King County, and I think I'll ask if they use butterfly needles or not. I had never thought about that before. Thanks for the tip, friend. :)

  • @1958boomergirl I have never seen butterfly needles used in other than a clinical laboratory environment. They use a fairly large needle so you can get in and get out quickly. Also, the red blood cells are less likely to be damaged. My late father had to have a clinical lab test repeated because the red blood cells exploded when they took the blood (it throws off the measurement). A tube or two is one thing, but once they pull a blood donation that's 56 days to repeat.

  • why does this feel like propaganda

  • @poofyhamsters

no one's forcing you to watch it. -.- it's not propaganda, unless you're being influenced to watch it.

  • ILL NEVAH FOKIN DONATE A GRAM OF MY BLOOD IF THEY ARE PULLING THAT HUGE NEEDLE IN MY ARM SON !!

  • @AbstractGreenDude It really doesn't hurt as bad as it looks. If you take your fingernail and poke your inner elbow kind of hard, it feels about the same. The worst part is when they have to prick your finger to check your hemoglobin level. That hurts worse because your fingers have a lot of tightly packed nerve endings, whereas your elbow doesn't.

  • I donating blood yesterday, I was originally afraid of the needle, but I didn't eat a good breakfast. I stood up and fell right back down. Lol.

  • @panicatthedisco19 The waiting period varies by country, for the US it is eight weeks. IIRC, some countries it can be as long as twelve weeks but then some also take 550mL at a time.

  • I donated blood todaty and i didnt eat anything but drink a bottle of water. I was so scared i was gonna faint. They took two bags of blood from me those jerks! But there was no pain except when the women missed my frieken vein!

  • :O i dont think i can give blood anymore 8T

  • When I go and give blood can I ask for a smaller needle?

  • why are they numbing the arm 1st? We don't do that where I work.....if the plebotomy is successful, you won't feel the needle in your arm, just a quick pinch.

  • I'm giving blood for the first time next week, i'm really scared about the size of the needle lol it looks huuggee

  • @Dooooodle I'm pretty sure the needles hurt less if they're bigger.

  • @Dooooodle pussy

  • @locomoco453 any particular reason you felt the need to say that? other than being a prick?

  • when you donate blood, when is the next time you can do it again? And also i don't like to see blood but im still going to do it so i can help someone out will i feel weird after im done like shaky or weak?

  • @panicatthedisco19 i was told every 57 days but i'd probably wait longer and it all depends.. I donated through the Canadian Blood Services check out my video and blog if you would like some more info. Remember it all depends on the donor and a registered nurse should be with you at all times so don't worry. i didn't feel shaky or weak and some snacks were provided afterwards.

  • @RRRoland13 ok thanks : )

  • @RRRoland13 Thank you donating! I working in the hospital lab and we treat it like gold.

  • am donating for the first time in 55 minutes :D

just ate a banana and some cereal and i've been drinking a lot of water today.

  • i just went to donate blood today... hmmm.. well.. they inject the injection to numb the part where they are goin to pierce... that was painful... and after which u wont feel a thing.. and your hand numb for a day... and only right hand as they veins are larger

  • I rang up today and im donating next friday which would be 11/6/2010 it will be the decond time i donate and i cant wait. Im so excited to donate blood again. The finger prick hurts more than the needle but you just sit back and rexlax cause its over in no time

  • Wow, they give you some sort of anesthetic?

When I donated blood, they just stuck me without it and the needle really didn't hurt.

  • Donate blood and earn a £100! Please see my channel

  • im fixing to donate blood in 51 mins. im kinda scared.

  • @Amber123481 how was iT?

  • im donating blood my first time on Monday(: its for a good cause so yea but im alittle Nervous!

  • i just got 3 viles of blood drawn and it hurt A LOT!

  • im going in 2 weeks

  • how did it make u feel afterwards?? did it make u dizzy or weak???

  • That tape gave me a rash.. =[

  • i'm scared like that i gave to some vampire of my blood.

  • holy shit i'm doing that in two days thats a big ass needle haha

  • im doing this at my school today

  • Holy crap! I gave blood the first time a couple weeks ago... I didn't look at the needle, but I didn't expect it to be that big!

  • wtf? is that me or is that ah uge needle

  • fuck thats a big ass needle

  • @talkfree14 it doesnt even hurt

  • @talkfree14 big-ass needle or big ass-needle?

  • @talkfree14 pussy

  • @talkfree14

I beleive thats a bore needle... people who have a bad kidney problem and need automatically blood filtering have to have this stuck in them about once a week...

  • after donating blood i passed out and convulsed, is that bad?????????????

after words i could not walk for 10 minutes the doctor did not understand why? they never explained to me why it happened.

  • The human body contains an average of 6L of blood, you start showing signs of blood loss after just 1L or 20% of your total blood volume. Those signs would be consist of passing out. Passing out is not always a bad thing its your bodys way of correcting itself! Convulsions could be a sign of shock as well from sudden loss of blood!

  • thanks, that's what thought.

  • mmmmmmmm

It looks like i got a bruise even if no one it me, its next where i donate, is that bad?

I think It might be bleeding internally, IDK.

  • No, bruising is normal. It is due to the blood vessels being pretty much stabbed and the blood has collected under the epidermis (top layer of skin) It should go away in about 2 weeks or so if it doesn't then you might want to consider getting it checked out

  • 2 weeks long time, thanks

  • does it matter if you smoke weed if you want to give blood?

  • wow raggice is that a serious question..?

  • yes

  • @raggice Having been asked the official questionnaire every eight to ten weeks for the past two years, the only thing they ask about illegal drug use only covers injected drugs. That's to be cautious about hepatitis and AIDS, among other transfusion transmissible diseases. I did some Googling, and some blood banks say you must not donate when high (or drunk or severely mentally ill).

  • that needle looks super thick.. is it just me?

  • nope. not you. it's a big needle. 16 gauge if you know what that means. it does not feel as bad as it looks though.

  • i tried giving blood yesterday it was my first time but i couldn't cuz my iron is too low, 11.5 it has to be at least 12.5 or more

  • are you anemic?

  • no the lady said it wasn't low enough for me to be anemis, but she didn't want to take any chances of me passing out.

  • oooh.. i pass out every time i have to have blood drawn.. does that mean my iron is low?

  • Read my comment at the top! That might help!

  • Thanks a lot for this, Im donating blood tomorrow, a little scared but now you've cured my hemophobia lol

  • ditto :3

  • Thank you so much for doing this. :-)

  • Why in the world did they use anesthetic? Why get stuck twice by a needle when you can do it all in one? In my opinion it really doesn't hurt enough to warrant anesthetic. Good job though, keep donating.

  • some people opt for the anesthetic even though it means two needles because the needle for the anesthetic is really small, so you don't feel it that much, so the second larger ones goes in easier...its just personal preference but I'm sure some places don't offer the anesthetics

  • how old i have to be to donate blood i want to do it

  • 17 years old, and in some states you can donate at age 16 with parental consent...you just have to be 110 pounds and healthy!

  • whew i just make the weight requirement.. but is still have a couple months to go before im 17... in my state you have to be 17..

  • 16 or 17 depending on what state you live in

  • that needle is fuking huge...did they have to numb your arm first? that needle looks waaay to painful to just stuck it up in there

  • they dont numb it doesnt hurt it just like a pinch

  • they dont give you anaesthesia

    i know i donated yesterday

and that wasnt the first time

it doesnt hurt you think it will but not really

if you can take a bee sting

you can donate blood with no problem

  • bee stings hurt like a bitch though, lol... im gonna go give blood for the first time in like 30 mins... thanks for that :(

    lol :D

  • It hurts the 1st 10 seconds after the needle. But it goes good. I donate 11 times this year. I donate platelets. Last 2 took 2 hours. she said I did a triple platelet donation, whatever that means. Nurse said that triple platelet donation is the best. I remember one time I was donating platelets, I farted real loud. I mean real loud in the chair. Sounded like a duck getting stepped on. 2 people donating removed their needle and left the building. Nurse told me not to fart again.

  • Ouch ! It looks painful .

  • dont worry,i do that...i know my blood can make a change, can save lives..

  • just eat some food before. and drink a bottle of water so you'll have some fluid in your body whey they take you blood. trust me, its fun, especialy when you do it at school on those buses. Familiar faces, cool air, and music helps people cope.

  • Dont be scared of passing out. Look away, drink plenty of water before and Im sure you'll be fine. Passing out usually means an immediate drop in blood pressure. Drink and dont get too hyped up over it and Im sure you'll be fine! Gooood luck!

  • That needle was too big for a normal blood donation.

  • oh my gosh!!! i hate needles!!!!!

  • I have survived the blood drive :) didnt pass out or nothing No pain at all except for when they prick your finger and sticking the needle in your arm mine hurt when the man yanked it out they took a bag of blood from me 5 tubes and a finger prick of blood

  • today was my 63rd donation

  • it doesnt hurt, you will feel very nervous until you barely feel the needle go in , i donated blood two times and i got a complement of having "Juicy Veins" Lol.

  • @txturtlelytiger then that would make me the no blood veins cause just getting a blood test done using a butterfly needle to draw blood will have to have them stick me at least 4 times before they hit a vein.

  • When you see some else giving blood, it does look painful. But it really isn't. I've donated blood at least 10 times and still donating =]

  • thats looks like it hurts. i signed up to donate blood next tues

day, i'm kinda freaking out now

  • It dont hurt dont freak out they give you a stress ball to donate and you can back out if you want

  • i gave blood today at my school. they didnt give anaesthesia though. they just stuck the needle in.. is that normal?

  • I gave blood today @ my school!

    And yeah, that's normal.

  • yeah at my school (Cleveland, Ohio, USA) they just clean it/disinfect and then needle in

  • I hated that part

  • haha loved it. THey were like okay now look away. and i was like ohay... NO WAIT! ARE YOU GONNA PUT THE NEEDLE IN?! and they wre like "yes' and i was like OOO! i wanna see this =)

Same thing happened with my ear cartilage piercing haha

  • Yeah and we are true blood donors

  • Comment removed

  • Any tips when donating so I wont get freaked out

  • make sure you eat a good meal that morning, be really well hydrated, drink a lot of water the week before you go in. relax, take a deep breath its over in about 15 minutes.

  • my veins are so small. when they drew the blood today it stopped halfway through, and they cancelled me.

ireally want to donate, so what can i do?

i only have two days to do it; the college i'm studying in gave us this opportunity>

  • Im donating April 15 hopefully I am not anemic does it hurt at all I am afraid of needles so I am doing it to conquer the fear and I hate the sight of blood

  • it hurts a little when they first stick the needle in but after that you only feel pressure from the blood flow. you don't have to look at the tube or anything and if you feel faint they lean your bed back.

  • they didn't give me an anasthesia lol

  • Thatlooks like it hurt bad!!!

  • amazing:)

  • what are they injecting to you before giving a blood?

  • that's strange, they know you out?

  • im gonna donate blood 1st time tomorrow so i can skip school afterwards

  • Just make sure u eat a good meal before donating blood, otherwise ur ass is going to faint.

  • @Bama8902 and dont have any alcohol, unless you want to get wasted and end up in a hospital with a blink of an eye

  • It's really not painful, i was nervous as hell especially when i saw the big needle but its just a slight sting and thats without the numbing solution so dont worry :)

  • how old do u have to be to donate ? pm me

  • 16 with parental constent

  • i just donated blood for the first time today and i have to say that it couldn't be any more painless. its easier than getting the flu shot

  • I tried today and she said i cant because i "was nervouse" lol eaven though i wasnt and the blood pressure machine said 109 i am so pissed off, no wonder only 1 in 30 people do it.

  • i donated blood at school..i got nothing to numb it and they gave me a finger prick...it barely hurts..only for like 1 second so everyone relax

  • I think that's the worst part, when they prick your finger to examine your bodily conditions. They had some frickin staple thing for me...but everything else after that is easy and smooth, which I definitely enjoyed.

  • Im donating blood tommorow and just fiqured out that i drank vodka today shit!!!!

  • I am going for my first time tommorow yay

  • i donated too but they didn't use anasthesia!!!

  • I donated for the first time about 30 minutes ago. I was scared shitless but it didn't hurt at all. It is true that the finger prick hurts more than the needle. The needle is huge, but there is a numbing solution in the iodine that makes it virtually painless. And I got a free fig nution and mt. dew. :)

  • Donating blood doesn't hurt at all, it's better than a regular shot. The finger prick hurts the most. I got my results on my blood and I'm O- :] . I thought I was going to be O+ because 4% of the population has O-.

  • Hey yo I just donated blood for the first time 2 hours ago! ^^

It was damn fun man! I love it!

Guys, don't worry, the pain is very temporary when the needle is inserted and anaesthesia is applied. After that, its just relax.

I'm gonna do this all the time I can!

    I'm Singaporean, by the way.

  • Shit the needle is so thick...now im scared

  • they use anastesia,you don't feel a thing :L

  • No they don't >>" It only hurts for the split second. You had better squeeze hard when they instruct you to, otherwise they are going to have to DIG for that vein in your arm. THAT hurts, cause thats what they did with me xD

  • Do they use locale anestesia before injection? ^ ^

  • Ha so im way weird, and I like to watch them put it in, and they can never get it in cause my vein walls are too thick and they take like a minute or two fishing around to find it. Its actually kinda cool, and it feels way weird.

  • Had mine done yesterday and I'm delighted that I did. I didn't see the needle going in and the pain was absolutely fine, but I had no idea the needle was that big and thick. I'd of probably started to sweat if I'd seen the size of it before having it done.

  • I'm trying for my first donation. I'm really worried, people say the needle is really big and you feel light headed afterwards. But I'm still going to go and do it.

  • Great, I'm on your back all the time. Make sure you take your breakfast or lunch b4 donating :)

  • Thanks, I'll take your advice as well, have something to eat before I go :D.

  • i'm giving blood on the 18th, my stepdad told me the needle was the size of a medium sized nail... is this right?

  • ya i donated on friday it waas my frist time too its not bad at all not even as bad as a shot becasue a shot goes into muscle and donating blood just under skin into vein its nothing

  • ive had an IV before to get my wisdom teeth taken out and i didnt even feel it,so i guess ill be ok! thanks

  • I'm having it done first thing tomorrow too. I'm kinda nervous about it :D

  • I donated for the first time today, it doesn't really hurt its just like a pinch. The lady wouldn't let me look at my arm because she says to many people like flip out when they see the needle going in. But it defiantly does not hurt, it's just like a little pinch and then your arm feels kind of stiff. I just listened to my ipod for like 8 minutes then I was on my feet and out, didn't really get lightheaded at all.

  • what a puss.
