  • Now how do u pass inspection?

  • Im an all motor type of guy. Would u say that a mustang with heads/cams would be just as fast as a supercharged mustang?

  • @sergsrt8

compareing model year to model year...I have beat guys at the track who were running twin screw SC's on a stock motor. However, the slightest engine work, and they could easily surpass the power and speed I as making.

On the flip side, there'll alway be someone faster. I did a big all motor build because I like the sound and the feeling that you just can't get with boost. My car shakes when it idles! LOL

  • @marcspaz nice, what do u run in the 1/4?

  • @sergsrt8

Car with driver is 3900 lbs. The car is a fully dress GT w/Premium and Appearance packages. It can comfortably be driven cross country with driver and 1 passanger. Throw on some drag radials and I am cutting low 1.7 60' times and 12.14 @ 118 1/4 mile ET. I never made the 11's. Both me and the car are way too heavy. LOL.

  • what kind of cut-outs are you using?

  • @cptinsano43

I was using QuickTime, but the motor blew (spun bearing) and I am using the down-time to find some nice manual once. The electronics took a beatin' in the bad weather.

  • now let's hear that LINCOOOOOLLLLLLLNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! for real though love the car

  • @rjeezy325

LOL That is a fun car. Thanks for the kudos!

  • first rev i thought i heard thunder.. not even jokin!

  • @zx2escortt

My neighbors love it too! LOL

  • In total how much did the heads and cams and the the parts and the install came out to

  • @2006mustanggt500

I did the install myself, so no labor. My buddy has a shop and he charges $2,000. All the parts cost me about $5,000. Unless you are a diehard all motor guy, buy a twin screw and get it over with.

  • NIIIIIIIIIIIIICE

  • Very clean looking mustang congrats

  • What kind of rims and tires are you running?

  • @20ROUSH11

The wheels are Stack Racing Ford GT replica's

  • what brand of open headers are you using?

  • @Asalazar77795

American Racing 1.75 Pri LT's. I use their catted X-pipe for the street too.

  • if its open headers how come you got pipes in the back? diverters or something? sounds good tho man.

  • @YogiAndBooBooAndMe

    Cut-outs ;-)

  • Sweet looking Stang!

  • Best sounding s197 I've ever heard. Great job man

  • What kind of wheels and lowering kit do u have?

  • The wheels are Stack Racing Ford GT replica's. The suspension is a mix of Ford Racing FR3/SVT Springs/Shocks/Struts (tried to copy most of the FR500c setup), Ford Racing front control arms, sway bar assemblies, etc. Then in the back I am running BMR racing upper and lower adjustable control arms. the lowest point of the car has 3.5" og ground clearance. It corners awesome and very little weight-shift.

  • God damn that's a bad ass ride

  • Marc, what kind of numbers are you putting down? Sounds incredible!

  • My best pull ever was 400 rwhp and 365 rwtq.

  • What is your lower end?

  • Stock bottom-end

  • that must be your wifes car on the left :p

  • LOL... Yea, she loved that car. We got a couple of Jeep Wranglers since the video was shot though.

  • @marcspaz by the way nice car!! i want my 86 oldsmobile to sound like that.

  • @marcspaz lol a couple? i hope u didnt get rid of that nice piece of ass on the right

  • @mfarmakas17

LOL... the stable gets refreshed every now and then. The Mustang is the only one that stays.

  • Sex! I think I like it better than my sound!

  • Sex! I think I like it better than my sound!

  • Thanks for the kudos!

  • lollllllll

  • Where did you get your tune for this combo from?

  • Doug from BamaChips tuned it the first time, but I have made same changes since then. Chris at Excessive Motorsport in Manassas VA did my last couple of performance tunes for me. He did a great job too.

  • which spoiler do you have on the mustang?

  • Its the Steeda Street wing. It bolts to the stock bolt holes and is functional. I have been very happy with it.

  • Comment removed

  • Hahaha Yea, Santa doesn't have it down just yet for sure. LOL

Mine is a DD. I put about 22k on it in the past year. It is a blast on the street. Makes the ride to work a lot more fun.

The hot rod cams are great if you don't want to spend a butt-load of cash in supporting mods. They will make about 30-35 hp increase at the wheels and sound sweet.

  • Yep. It's a DD with about 22k on the current setup.

Sent you a PM. Too much for this box. LOL

  • sent you a PM

  • you have anything done to the exhaust? LT's? o/r x-pipe? what kind of exhaust.... just so i know what to ask Santa for...

  • LOL! hey are American Racing 1.75" Long Tube Headers with a catted x and MagnaFlow mufflers. This specific video is just the headers with nothing else hooked up.

  • Need some more vids!!

  • what is your gas mileage after this?

  • Are you sure you want to know? LOL It isn't good.

If I keep my foot out of it, I can get 14.5 mpg city and about 17.5 highway. If I am really hot-rodding around town it's as low as 8.5 per gal. At the 1/4 mile track (basicly WOT all the time) it will use about 1.25 gal per minute. If I was to get on the highway and run flat out for as long as I could, I would kill a full tank of gas in about 12-13 minutes.

  • Sounds awesome!!!! I just put the Ford Racing Hot Rod Cams in mine and picked up 52 rwhp just from the cams....I will be putting the heads on in about 2 weeks but I have been doing some debating on which heads to go with either the FRPP or Livernois stage 3...Did your throttle response increase any when you rev it or does is still slowly idle down?? I am looking for a more rapid response when you rev it and just wanting to know if you can tell a difference? Thanks man and again it sounds awesome

  • 52 at the wheels is pretty good for the hot rod cams. I like the FRPP way better than the Livernois heads. They have bigger, better valves, upgraded springs and are new instead of reman'd. However, the FRPP high flow heads are $6k compared to Livernois $3k. I guess it deepends how deep your pockets are vs. what your want to do.

The idle thing is all in the tune. A good tuner can set that up for you.

  • @WaldoGT07 Try a new clutch and flywheel combo. A lighter clutch and flywheel reduces rotating mass and increases throttle response. An aluminum driveshaft will help as well.

  • Did you loose much bottom end torque going from stock to the new heads and cams? Would you say the car accelerates much better now vs. stock?

  • I did not have a drop in tq anywhere. I have over 300 ft lbs of tq to the wheels at 3000 rpm vs. 200 ft lbs of tq to the wheels when it was stock. Plus, I am over 350 ft lbs of tq to the wheels from 3800 rpm to 6200 rpm.

    It goes pretty good. LOL

  • @marcspaz Thanks for the info. I'm pretty much sold on what I'm going to do now with my car. I was just concerned that there could be a loss of torque at low engine speeds since the variable cam timing is limited or nonexistent and typically a larger cam hurts bottom end torque, but I guess it's not big enough to hurt it. Thanks again!

  • how many horses did you gain from the cams.

  • Not sure about the cams alone. Compared to stock, CAI, Cams, Heads, LT's and I netted 135 hp at the wheels.

  • what are the cam specs??

  • Lift: 547 intake - 560 exhaust

    Duration: 273 intake - 283 exhaust

It's too hot for stock heads. P&P, Springs, and VCT lockouts are a must.

  • sweet car bro, cant beat the noice of a cammed stang

  • Cool, Thanks for the info. Sweet ass car. I hope mine will sound that good one of these days.

  • i have borla long tubes lol

i think i am going to go for it!

    thanks for the help

your video is what really made me want performance heads and cams

  • NP Bro. Good luck and keep us updated.

  • haha i bet she is lol

do you think i can run the stage 3 heads and cams on a almost stock mustang?

i have a cold air intake, pullys, tune, exhaust, throtle body, performance intake manifold and thats all i can remeber lol

  • With the setup you have, I would say go for it, esp if you have long tubes. If you don't have LT's, that is the only other thing I would recommend. Of course any other supporting mods will help, but you the the min parts list covered from what I can see.

  • sweet car and awesome sound! Are those long tube headers? I'm sure they are from the sound. And, I haven't gotten under mine and looked, but what do you do with the oxygen sensors when you have long tube headers and you run them open?

  • The front o2 sensors are mounted in the collector and work fine while the headers are open. I have the SCT Advantage 3 software, so I disabled the rear o2's on the open header tune.

  • best sounding mustang ever!

how much did this setup cost you?

  • Thanks! As for as price the way it sits, I have been tracking every penny.

As is right now PARTS ONLY = $24,636. Almost the price of the car new. Man is my wife pissed... LOL

  • holy shit thats beautifull! k this might be a stupid question but what the hell... is there any effects to your engine from having open headers? like what about long term 2? but ya dude, you did an awsome job on it.

  • Thanks for the kudos... There are no negitives as long as it is tuned for it. I have a tune for the full exhaust and one for open headers.

  • Hey Marc,

What kind of exhaust are you running? i own an 07 and are throwing on the mutha thumpr 2 with livernois stage 2 heads...some of these cars i hear have a nasty raspy exhaust. i want to keep with my deep throaty exhaust...i like the way yours sounds...thanks for the help!

  • I have American Racing LT's, Catted X-Pipe, MagnaFlow Cat-back full mufflers. The cat's and the MagnaFlows keep the raspy sound to almost nothing...

  • "comp cams" whats the the full name of them i want some for my mustang and how lond did it take to install

  • Guys thanks for all the kudos... Sorry I haven't been out here in awhile. I posted some answers to questions below...

    Thanks again! Spaz

  • Hey bro, love the car. I just got the spr stage 2 (127500) & i was wonderin if u ran into any problems when it was all said & done. Did u adjust the timing & degree at all? who did ur tune? I know b4 these u had the stage 2s i believe so im just curious b4 i do anything. Thanks bro

  • It was a huge PITA to tune. It took 3 of use to collectively get it right. Make sure you bring it to a good tuner with a dyno.

My VCT is locked out and my cams are degreed 20 BTDC. You have to adjust your timing tables, AFR, etc, but a good tuner can hook you up for sure.

Major improvement over the stage 2 cams... but stage 2's were also great compaired to stock I had 334 rhp and 319 rwtq with the stage's. You should like them.

  • Thanks for the info dude. Jdm, & brenspeed are doing my email tune until i can get it to a dyno. u think it will be ok until then?

  • Oh yea. Beteen those guys breath Mustangs and you are NA, it will not only be safe, it will prob be close too.

  • You made 334 hp and 319 tq with the SPR Stage II or III? I have the Stage I installed in my 3v 5.4 and I want to swap out for the Stage III. My power right now is 301 hp and 350 tq. The Stage I are very mild..I do have ported heads and a 3000 stall, 4.56 gears, ford racing headers, IMRC deletes, 80mm TB, CAI, true dual with x-pipe.. 05 F150 btw..I want to keep it N/A, and I want that sound! I know the 3v 5.4 can push near 500 tq N/A with some work done!

  • That is the best sounding S197 I've heard so far

  • awesome car by the way

  • When your running your full exhaust, you running an o/r x or h pipe? and what brand

  • I am using a catted X-Pipe. I have a cat-less H, but the car mad much less power, so I got rid of it.

  • blowers are better for gas mileage if u don't slam on the gas u don't really use the blower. my 03 gt makes 425 rwhp at 9 degree timing and it really doesn't get bad gas mileage when compared to a car that making it through all engine. anyway superchargers are more fun. but cool car

  • Superchargers make more power for the price and effort, but I am not in it for fuel econ or just making a fast car. There are maybe 7 to 10 people in the country with a car setup like mine... plus the 400 rwhp is more than enough to get me into trouble ;-)

  • so i just had a few questions for you. everyone elce that has cams and heads on their s197 has between 350 and tops 380 hp i have know idea how you got 400 but good shit. how much did it cost for this set up? also how much was it for the install and tune?

  • Like I mentioned below, the heads and cams cost me about $5000. There are only 2 people I know who are NA ith more power than me. Rich from RadMustangs and Blow By Racing. They are both around 409/410 rwhp.

The car was tuned by a collection of myself, Chris from Excessive, and Doug from BamaChips. Doug is a good friend and Chris is a friend and sponsor, so I didn't pay anything for the tuning. I would say you would tpicly be looking at $300 to $500 for a tune based on the shop and tuner.

  • WOW dude tht is soooooooo bad ass. great job on your stang....thnx a lot for this vid bc now i know what cams to get on my 07 gt/cs...399 hp sounds like it ll get the job done lol

  • Thanks bro. The car is a blast to drive. I bought the heads, cams, gaskets, ARP head bolts, cam phaser lockouts, etc... It all cost me about $4800.

I currently put down 399 rwhp and 365 rwtq. More than enough to get in trouble... LOL

  • fuck that thing is mean,,,if ya dont mind me askin, whatd the heads and cams set ya back ? i am lookin to do that to my 05 instead of a supercharger, i realize i dont need 450 rwhp it will jus get me in trouble... i would like to have 350 n/a rwhp and was thinkin cams heads and a tune might do it..what hp u pushing ? thanks...fuckin sweet ride to by the way

  • and where did u get ur cams from

  • Excessive Motorsport in Manassas VA.

  • what wheels are those on ur car?

  • The wheels are GT Super Car knock-offs from American Muscle.

  • race a blown car and you will see the dif. if ur in it for the power, ur car averages 500 to wheels on stock engine with a blower at 9 pounds of boost. I mean no offense but u built an engine that u dont even want to push over 5 to the wheels with. doesnt make much sense, but i guess to each his own.

  • marc you do have one of the best NA s197 projects ive ever seen !!!!

    more kudos to yo,

    oman_Cobra from s197forums

  • Thanks man! Nice to hear from you again!

  • how did u get such a awesome idle. sounds like thumpr or something.

  • They are Comp Cams stage 3 XFI cams. That and a 650 rpm idle... LOL

  • love the sounds, holyshit, sounds better than the ls2's. pretty plz more open headers videos :)))

  • That's a really, really, good tune. Can you pass emissions? stupid question I know...

  • Only when the whole exhust is on... but yes, the heads, cams, etc ill pass as long as all the O2 sensors are on and collecting data.

  • which xfi cams are they? spr vsr or nsr? I have the stage 3 spr's and livernois ported heads in mine its not nearly that lopey. sounds good

  • Thanks man... They are the SPR's.

  • holy beans...i thought i had heard the nicest sounding mustang on youtube a while ago untill this came along..holy fuck im speechless, what headers are you runnning and about how much power you got at the wheels ? thanks alot nice car, love it

  • Cool, thanks for the kudos! I have American Racing 1.75" long tube headers.

The car is NA with an est 460 FWHP and measured 391 to the wheels. I drag race the car regularly. @ 3900 lbs w/driver, I am running mid to low 12's. Hoping to bump 11's NA by the end of Nov.

  • How is the idle to 2500 range for cruising? I've been thinking about getting the stage 2s, but I don't know. Is it streetable? That is how all cars should sound!

  • It's really good on the streets. I put 350+ miles a week on the car and I love every mile of it.

  • Thanks guys!

My best ET so far is 12.5, but I have only been to the track with it twice since the build. Once I have moe seat time, it should be much better.

  • Wow, sounds great! Any 1/4 times or dyno numbers?

  • car sounds great and looks good

  • sounds wicked dude...It's amazing how good a white mustang looks...got one myself!!
