  • @snowflkpjs It would be my pleasure ;). look to see you soon.

  • @mzbduhh1 This is a Tyche 1" Ceramic

  • How often would you recommend your client to get thair hair pressed?

  • @sweetbee06 it all depends on the client and their lifestyle. My clients range from weekly visits to every 6weeks for protein and trim.

  • @mandrillhardge can this be done at home?

I loooove how it's been done but it looks like it looks impossible haha too good to be true actually, can this be done with all types of black hair looking so sleek? and to get that is it required only to use that shampoo?

sorry I'm curious been growing my hair for a year now and I wanna press at September. :)

  • @MrsZefron778 I do NOT recommend this method at home because of the use of the heat. You may use any shampoo/conditioner that isnt oily but i prefer the Elucence line. It can be done on all hair types, the amount of heat will differ however.

  • && can this wrk w/ a flat iron ?

  • @mzbduhh1 depending on the texture of your hair, yes it can.

  • Great info!..what did u use around her edges? I just love the silky look.. I'm transitioning frm chemical 2 Natural......(*_*)I need help 4 these edges...what kind of Blow dryer was that...hw Hot does it get?

  • @locsNcurls best of luck on your transition. Blowdryer was Tyche 2000, for edges i used Kera Care Styling Wax Stick

  • throughout the duration of this video i was praying that your were in Atlanta and you are!!!! im so happy i need to see you asap. Do you know if the kera care wax stick lasts all day long especially with the humidity?

  • @candyatl06 awesome!! i would love to serve you. the stick actually last longer than a day, depending on your lifestyle.

  • is this safe for caucasiun hair

  • @JarodFowlerbo hi there....this technique is only recommended for curly hair clients. If your client has a curly or heavy wave pattern to their natural texture, then this will be beautiful. Otherwise, just use a ceramic and silk wrap the hair.

  • what did he use on her edges of her hair in that white bottle? does anybody know?

  • @sexythang4727 looks like kera care styling wax

  • @sexythang4727 Kera Care Styling Stick

  • that model is gorgeous she has such strong features

  • The end result looked very nice, but that seemed like waaaaaaay too much heat! Not to mention the fact that her ends appeared to be heat damaged before it was even blow dried. I hope her hair doesn't start breaking off!

  • @PhoenixNubia this client chose NOT to cut off all her hair to begin the natural process therefore what you perceive as heat damaged ends is actually relaxed hair. Best of luck on your quest!

  • @mandrillhardge Ah, I stand corrected then! I hadn't considered the fact that she might still have relaxed ends. Thank you for taking a moment to respond to my comment.

  • What kind products are used on the hair to cause the hair to bounce?

  • @teniecha81 I use only Elucence Shampoo and Conditioner

  • That's A LOT of heat! Blow dryer, marcel iron, then again a flat iron...How often does she do this? If she keeps this up, her hair will be permanently straight unless she grows it out.

  • @ladydipset88 that is what the definition of professional means....an individual that knows the proper amount of heat to apply to the hair in order to get these results without having heat damage.

  • What leave-in did you use?

  • @vb9jacks no leave-in was used in this video

  • Please visit Mandrill he will have you looking right. I drove two hours to get my hair pressed, colored, and a protein treatment. I must say it was totally worth it . I will see you in two weeks Mandrill. Thanks for the fabulous new look.

  • @missymeism it was my pleasure to serve you. Thanks for trusting me with your hair needs.

  • you NEED that much heat, to get think kinky hair that straight....

  • @nikirylee the amount of heat in this video is in direct conjunction with this clients texture...of course, each client will be different. some needing more and some needing less heat.

  • @mandrillhardge yeah thats sort of what i meant.....but yeah the end results look FABULOUS. and the model has a gorgeous face.

  • what kind of blow dryer is that?

  • @MizMimiCullen Tyche 2000

  • I'm soooooooo going to make an appointment!

  • @RetroSoulSista I look forward to meeting and serving you beautiful :)

  • I THINK I MAY BRING MY DAUGHTER TO HIM WHEN WE VISIT CAUSE NO ONE HERE CAN GET HER HAIR RIGHT. I mean it looks poof in an hour of leaving the salon.

  • @kareemtiheed I would be honored to serve you and your daughter. See you soon ;)

  • are those things straightners??

  • @gummybear788 the iron with the orange handle is called a silk iron. the other is a ceramic iron.

  • @gummybear788 oh thank you x

  • OKAY! I want that blow dryer what's that name of it PLEEEEEZZ? And my cousin has one of those flat iron things but how should she keep it hot once she takes it out of the oven?

  • @MrSexxxy20 Tyche 2000....but i only recommend it for professionals because of the heat...you would do well with a Tyche 1275 for home use.

  • @mandrillhardge Yeah I went a head an got a Conair it has the same concept but I don't use much heat on my hair an it works very well.

  • @riokamaster kewl...hit me up on facebook cousin...mandrillhardge

  • i use a hot comb and flat iron are the silk press irons okay for at home use

  • @opt85 i do not recommend the silk iron for at home use.

  • You did a very good job. What products did you use on her hair?

  • @tamoniva12 thank you. I used Elucence Shampoo/Conditioner and Kera Care Styling Stick at the end.

  • that must be one hot blowdryer lol

  • @mszlanlan it is, yet within the guideline for healthy hair ;)

  • her hair dont look that thick

  • @chick4u its extremely thick.

  • you did a great job it looks amazing, but i noticed her ends were stringy when it was wet is that becuz she has relax ends still?

  • @misstiffy25 thank you...at the time of the video she had only been going natural for about a year and a half. Her ends still were relaxed.

  • I went to Mandrill on Saturday and Boy was I impressed. Not only does my hair look great, I didn't even have to wait. Thanks Mandrill! I will be back.

  • @MizChelle1640 What an honor it was to serve you. Im looking forward to your next visit and also meeting your daughter.

  • Wow i didnt kno hair could take sooo much heat!! the result is beautifl!! x

  • @Cemone2006 yes it can and belive me he is great. I tried him out and my hair looks great. I will be back in his chair again.

  • @Cemone2006 thank you.

  • i like how men put so much love and gentle care in while working on hair . it really pays off . not that women don't . im just saying kuddos to the men that really do !!!!

  • @ourperfectsoul God bless you. I just love what I do, period..

  • What kind of flat iron are you using to curl the hair with?

  • @corinajoy07 In this video Im using Tyche flatiron. My iron of preferrence is a Chi, but I have tried others that work well also.

  • Is that the "Feather FLat Iron"? I bought on and it works wonders on my daughters hair. This is a great vid, her hair is beautiful!!

  • @MsChell84 thank you, but it is not a Feather Flat Iron, its a Tyche.

  • Your work is MARVELOUS!! When I do my Silk Presses, I usually dont ust the ceramic iron, but I will now.

  • @yvonne122371 Best wishes to you and thank you for you compliment.

  • Really Nice!! So if Ur a person whose hair just falls when i step out the Salon or can sweat (not profusely either) and my hair is wet will it work or is it like having to get used to the procedure

  • @2192404 you may want to get pressed then curl opposed to silk wrapped. That way, when you sweat or your hair drops, it doesnt go limp, it will fall into more of a bouncy style.

  • where are you located?

  • @Chocolatelover123 midtown atlanta....check out my website to book appt.

  • what blow dryer is that? and the attachment?

  • @shsu97 Tyche 2000 and the attachment is Mr. Willie.

  • Wow, you've just given me more incentive to go back to natural. I am mid back length, close to waist length and have not had a relaxer for 1 year. I wish that you were located on the east coast, because I would love to experience your work. I'm deathly afraid of stylists, but you look like you enjoy doing hair and I would feel safe with you in my head I think.

    Beautiful work!

  • @xotik what an awesome compliment and Im truly humbled by it. I am on the east coast in Atlanta. Come see me, or check back soon as I may be in a city near you ;)

  • Hey cousin! I remember when you colored and styled my hair back in the day! (1998) I still remember the date because I loved it. I am glad you are doing your thang and I wish you much sucess in the future! Keep smiling cuz when you do you make me smile as I remember those days in uptown morganton...clarinets...and festivals uptown! lol

  • @tornickin I love you Tee. The smile is our Thomas heritage ;)

  • Hi! I LOVE the press u did in this video and would like to know what kind of iron you uesd? I've been natural for almost five years now and i could never get the same results with my marcel flat irons. HELP PLEASE and THANK YOU

  • @MsTink86 its the Silk Iron from Golden Supreme, followed by Tyche Ceramic Iron.

  • GREAT

  • Definitely going to pay you a visit! Amazing!! I HATE oil in my hair! I saw an ad on craigslist and I looked up Silk Press.. I saved your number. And when I get ready to come in for my "custom" color I will surely call you! Your work is AMAZING!

  • @Mizzece thank you. I look forward to serving you soon.

  • You did an excellent job on her hair...I would like to setup an appointment with you, please send me your information...Thanks so much..I just went all Natural in Jan 2010.

  • @chocolate2010atl thank you love....the website is in the description part of the video. I do all bookings online.

  • Your welcome! I didn't get a chance to include this in my last post but I'm interested in using the silk press irons. I've used a Chi flat iron in the past but was not able to get my hair very straight. Do you think it would be a bad idea for me to do my own hair using a Golden Supreme iron? I would go to a salon but i can't find a stylist who straightens natural hair where I live.

  • @browniebee4 where are you located?

  • You did such a beautiful job on her hair. I wish I lived in ATL so I could go to you. I'm trying to learn how to press my own hair, because I would like to go natural but maintain a straight look. Which irons do you recommend and do you use a temperature controlled oven?

  • @browniebee4 Thank you....the flatiron that I prefer is the CHI, however there are several good ones available now. Try your local Ulta Beauty Store. The oven that I use is NOT temp controlled.

  • how does this differ from a blow out?

  • @shunbun10 a blowout is simply that., a blowout. This demo is a press.

  • your model is so pretty and her hair turned out beautiful.

  • Hi! First off I just want to say BEAUTIFUL WORK! I was wondering if this young lady had relaxer. Also, what brand of blow dryer do you use?

    Thanks!

  • @pamcgheeco thank you...she hasn't been relaxed in about a year and a half....The blowdryer is Tyche 2000 watts

  • @pamcgheeco thank you....she last had a relaxer about a year and a half ago. I use a Tyche 2000 blowdryer

  • @mandrillhardge WONDERFUL VIDEO! WHAT PRODUCTS LINES DO U USE TO SHAMPOO AND CONDITION THE HAIR? WHAT DO U USE TO KEEP THE HAIR FROM BEING DRY, ANY OIL TREATMENTS IF SO WHAT LINE OF OIL TREATMENTS AND PLEASE DO A RELAXER RETOUCH VIDEO IF POSSIBLE THANKS AND AGAIN, BEAUTIFUL WORK!

  • I love it!!...It looks like she had a relaxer but she didn't.This gives me hope.because I've been going natural for 2 years, and I've been noticing that my flat iron don't do my hair ANY justice anymore...But I have a question...at the end of the video, you used a white tube on the edges of her hair...what was it?...gel?

  • @ThatsChicagosyaya07 Hang in there babe...The product that I used at the end of the video on her edges was KeraCare Styling Wax Stick

  • @ThatsChicagosyaya07 congrats on making the 2yr relaxer-free mark....The product at the end is KeraCare Styling Wax Stick

  • Wow .. her hair came out great. All i want to know is did she have any problems with her texture returning with all that heat and how often do you recomend women with natural hair get their hair done like that

  • where r u located?

  • Hello...the results are simply beautiful! How long did it take to complete her hair? How long can you expect the style to last?

  • which line of shampoo and conditioner and leave in do you use im a professional hair stylist and im looking for a new line to use for the silk press THANK YOU AND GREAT WORK

  • The most goregous transformation I have ever seen ! I am currently transitioning and my texture is about the same of your model- which gives me ever more courage to step out and do natural , thank you for the wonderful video. Just wish you were in Washington D.C. I really need a good consistent stylist :-(

  • @dmvshoppingqueen Thank you sooo much...I will be in DC the end of April...message me your information...

  • @mandrillhardge great how can i get u to do my hair since your gonna be in DC and im here im gonna need u lol... also how much do u charge

  • WOW!! May I ask what products you used prior to the blow drying and marcel? Very nice work... I have a sister in the Atlanta area who is currently going to a Dominican shop.... she will now get the 411 on you!!

  • @msmcnite I use the Elucence Shampoo and Conditioner line.

  • Hi Ladies, Simply Put..Mandrill is the BEST! I have been a client for nearly two years and he has completely transformed my hair. His technique and products are wonderful and he is professional - he values your time; long gone are the days of sitting in a salon for hours. I am just so fortunate I live in Atlanta. I have family and friends who travel from LA, Chicago, and Houston just to sit in his chair.

  • wow i luv it and thts exactly wht i wnt dne to my hair

  • beautiful girl.

  • What was that he used at the end to smooth her edges?

  • That seemed to be alot of heat! What do you do to protect the hair from heat damage? Thanks && her hair came out gorgeous by the way!

  • A few have asked what the temperature is of the blow dryer that I use...Its a Tyche Dryer 2000 watts..

Also the shampoo/conditioner line that I use has all the protectant and leave in conditioners that is needed to blow dry and press the hair. Remember that its a silk press so you dont want the hair to be weighed down!

  • what temperature is the dryer set to?

  • What product did you use before blow drying?

  • are stove iron flat irons or electric ceramic flat irons healthier for the hair??

  • If you ever come to Grand Rapids, Mich., please let me know! I need you!!! I'm stuck doing my own hair for the past 5 years now cuz none of the salons know how to do my hair here. Some even use wax!!!! I do a great job on my own, but you'd love my hair! Twelve inches of thick, virgin hair!!! No chemicals ever!

  • What heat protector did you use and how much?

  • That was the best silk press I've ever seen! Fabulous! I'm so glad I'm going natural

  • That is really good work! I want to go natural and get a silk straightening. I have been getting kiddie perms since i was 13 and I am now 20. Even with using a kiddie perm I still have damage. I might definately need to pay you a visit to get my hair back to a healthy state

  • Gorgeous!!!!!

  • i was just wondering is the flat iron used a Milstan hair tool

it looks just like the Milstan feather flat iron but not as wide.

  • I love Mandrill! His work is amazing, I just left his chair not to long ago. Ever since I stopped relaxing my hair Mandrill has made my hair healthier than ever before. The road to natural is not easy but if your on team Mandrill your journey will be a fun and stress free!!

  • Hi Nae Nae, I was wondering what temperature was the dryer on and what kind of heat protector was used on your hair?

  • I work with him, and he truly is awesome...and you'll have fun in his chair as well!! I know I have a ball sitting NEXT to him! lololol

  • What kind of Flat irons are those?

  • @shalas6 The initial flat iron or what we consider to be the silk iron are Golden Supreme and the ceramic is Chi

  • That sure is silky...Id let him style my hair only if I wore my hair straight 99% of the time. He seems heavy handed also.

  • @tr3ndsetta I would be honored to straighten you on those days you want it to be silky...I promise Im not heavy handed, just sturn...lol

  • #1 He's clearly an expert and knows how to do hair! That girl's hair look simply fabulous!

#2 what's up with her facial expression during the video?

#3 I noticed (while the hair was still soaking wet) that her hair had clear signs of heat damage (where the ends of the hair are no longer curly and lay straight), is that a result of this method?

#4a What kind of blow dryer was that? I need one in my life.

#4b What was that glue stick looking thing that you used to paste down her edges at the end?

  • @reserectcc Hi love..thanks for the compliment, now to answer your questions with what I hope will be helpful information:

#2- she was trying not to laugh during the taping because we were clearly cutting up,,,lol

#3- this particular client is still in the growout stage of her relaxed hair back to its natural state. It has been about a year and a half.

    #4a -Tyche 2000( I cant live without it..lol)

#4b- KeraCare Styling Stick for flyaway edges.

  • Wow you're thorough! Just the kind of stylist that I need in my life! I live in Upstate New York though... But I do happen to have an aunt who lives in ATL. I may just have to pay you a visit sometime.

    Keep doing fabulous hair! *smooches*

  • In encourage ladies in the ATLANTA AREA to get on Mandrill's schedule as soon as possible! He really is a hair extraordinaire. I have seen his work and it is phenomenal!
