The glamour of criminality really went downhill after people stopped using the Tommy Gun. I can't for the life of me understand why aspiring robbers and thugs don't still use. It's such a practical, badass weapon, even now almost a century after its invention, especially compared to the ridiculous crap today's gangsters shoot at each other with. Put ten of Capone's guys armed with Tommy Guns against ten gangbanger Crips armed with crappy little Tec-9s and see who wins.

@CrazyOldMaurice69 It's spelled Cryps, and also, to answer your question, YES, the thomson is much better, has a bigger capacity, shoots a better round. But they dont make FA thomsons anymore. How would a gangster GET a thommy gun? The reason they use Tec-9s is because they were easy to convert the semi auto AP9 into full auto. But that was in the 90's most gangsters no adays use knives and whatever guns they can steal. But I think the Cops should still use these AGAINST gangsters.

@1lovesoni They still make semi-auto replicas of the Tommy Gun, although I'm not sure how hard it would be to convert it into a full auto. I guess a Tec-9 is a lot easier to conceal and transport, too. Still, the Thompson is one terrifying weapon.

@CrazyOldMaurice69 It's near impossible to convert them, not that I would try but a freind of mine has a semi thomson, the system in there is almost nothing like the original thomsons. Also the semis are closed bolt and the auto's are open. Only the old tec-9s could be converted. After they stopped making open bolt versions it became a lot harder for criminals to convert their guns to FA.

I'm saying that the original, earliest Thompsons (1921's they are regarded as the first "submachine" guns ever), rate of fire was around 1500. The military wasn't interested in something that could waste lead on such a grand scale, so they slowed them down. Later (1928's) production was 600-800 rpm and the Army was all happy. Look it up.

It's real. the cutts compensator limits the recoil by diverting the gas to the top of the barrel. you can see the gas coming out of the top.
