On the basis of the foregoing findings and conclusions of law, it is hereby ORDERED that Southern College and Southeastern Academy repay to the United States Department of Education the sum of $5,555,682.46 and $5,069,550.00, respectively, as demanded in the FAD.
I attended this school winter of '92. It breaks my heart to see what's happened to it. The programs they were using to teach us were obselete, I never did understand why they weren't teaching a current program. I didn't stay w/the school, but still have memories, and I recognize everything in the video. I always wondered about this school, and was shocked to find this clip. So sad....... :-(
I went there the other day! Instead of driving through, we parked by the apartments and walked under a conveniently opened fence. I went during the day and some of my friends went during the night. It doesn't seem like there's any security, (none of them have gotten caught yet). There's a lot of gratify/tagging which sucks, but none-the-less it was very interesting to explore!
Love your videos but you need to invest in a HD camera and sometimes you go a bit too fast from scene to scene. Easy to get nauseous watching these videos! :)
I graduated from here in 88 had alot of good memories from there. Met some great people. Doesn't really suprise me that the got shut down, there were rumors then about one of the owners involvement in drugs and such.
WOW WTF, I graduated SEA fall of 87'. I had a blast partying with the Disney employees. The talent shows were priceless. I worked for the Omni Hotel for about a year that was the last thing i did in that industry.
I graduated fall of 1982 spent 5yrs at Springfield,Ma. Marriott and 21 yrs with Delta Air Lines at BDL. Wonderful memories, sad to see it like this. Week ends at Hojos and Rosie O'grady's and sex in the bathrooms so Mom and Pop couldn't catch you, haa haa. Remember we couldn't close our curtains if the opposite sex was in your room?
I can't believe THIS is the college campus I had always heard about. And to think I could see it from 192. Damn. I always thought it was an abandoned hotel at first.
I am shocked and saddened to see this. I graduated in 1980 and have been in the airline industry since. I still remember having to dress up for "cosmo class", and our teacher telling us not to use Pert shampoo because it would turn our hair green! Had a second floor room over the parking lot and vividly remember a girl falling over the railing onto the trunk of my car! Saved her life, I imagine.. Wow; seeing this vid really freakin' hurts, ya'll! My best to all the SEA grads!
Looks like the abandoned hotel in Ocala, (godsland) I'm surprised yous haven't uploaded a video of that place! That is if it hasn't been torn down...and Ma Barker's house out there too.
I came upon this by accident and am saddened by this. I attended this school and graduated in the fall of 1981. Unbelievable to see all the distruction and damage. I had wonderful memories there. Met alot of friends and who could forget Ho Jo's? Sign out for the weekend at the guard shack and return Sun. evening. It was all good there but looking at this is very very sad.
Thanks for this! I attended SEA in 1978. Was a travel agent for 1 year.- Hated it! Loved my time at SEA! Have to admit, this is sad to see, but my memories of the short time I spent there are timeless.
I graduated in '82 and have been in the travel business ever since. Both airline and travel agent. SEA opened those doors and I had a great time there. So sad to see it like this.

Wow I was just wondering what ever happened to SEA. I graduated in the summer of 84. I was in the corner room on the bottom when you first drove into the campus. Great memories, great friends! I remember Mom and Pop catching my roomamate having a girl in our room. Partying at Howard Johnsons, playing volleyball, swimming and playing softball. I got a job with the airlines right after graduation, so I enjoyed my times there. Sad to see it like this.
Hey Guys........great video.....i was there in the 90s.......and have searched and searched but cant find anything about what really happened to Southeastern Academy except that it closed in 2001......can you shed some light on an article or info that i can read about what happened......i didn find a court filing where the owners were ordered to pay money......any infor would be greatly appreciated.......racclt@aol.com.........thanks!
It was a intersting school, i went during the Jan - Mar, 12 week program 1991. Even though by that time unfortunately the studies were starting to become outdated. But I remember the partying and nothing being around the school. Not seeing hardly seeing anything til you got to St. Cloud, or past the turnpike intersection next to the school!!! 93 - 95 I was even a student assistant and seen many make it through, I think I still have the binder books from ticketing and agent. Metal missing??
I went to this school in 1984. It was an interesting experience. Atfer I graduated, I started my career in aviation. It lasted almost 20 years, but it died on 9-11. Then Southeastern Academy died. Many don't remember, but it was actually started with a partnership agreement with Ozark Airlines. Then American Airlines took over, "THE END". Rest in pace dear old friend, and....thanks.
Wow...I graduated SEA in April 1994. I did not stay on campus...although I remember visiting the rooms and all. I still have pictures. I tossed the curriculum and syllabus a long time ago!

Excellent video. On a side note, people wonder how places get like this. Two words: teenage boys. They tear these places up with such vicious abandon, they don't rest until every window is smashed, every wall is punched through, every piece of furniture is mangled, and every other item is ripped or thrown around multiple times. And then they mark their visit with vulgar or racist graffiti. They remind me of the gorilla in that old luggage commercial. Complete animals.
Wow, I graduated there in something like 1991 or 1992. I even saw my room in this video. I looked at my old pictures to compare. Amazing how the area declined. Looks like it closed in 2005. You can see a calendar in one of the video shots.

This property was an older hotel. I am sure that with three people in a smaller than average hotel room all the time put it in disrepair. Also, the cost to upkeep a school, pay the teachers, materials, etc. The restaurant, pool maintenance etc. The property just got too old and run down. I too attended the Academy in 1984.. Back then, it was happing and got a job with an airline and worked with them for 8 years. Also, have worked in hotel management! Its a shame but it had to happen
wow.. I graduated from there in October, 1999, and I know it shut down sometime in 2001. I can't believe it looks like this! The school itself sucked, but I met so many great people that are still good friends to this day, had a great time, and I still work in travel to this day, 11 years later. It was definitely a party school, but looks like that party died long ago!
i cant not belive this.....i knew it went bankrupted but OMG! i graduated feb 2000 i think i was one of the last classes, lol i cant believe they let that go like that, and yea, i never got my "diploma" it was there waiting for me to come get it, LOL guess i'll never get it.
wow WOW wow - i graduated from SEA in 1989 - so many great memories at SEA - I can't believe the school looks like this now - it was once so beautiful and full of life!! i actually went to Kissimmee a couple of years ago and drove by where i thought SEA was and there was nothing there except a new subdivision of houses but i guess i was at the wrong place!! WOW - thanks so much for posting the video!!!
I say, "Wow" also. I took the famous Southeastern Acadamy classes there in 1980. Like someone already posted, "Wonder what happened to all that money the students paid"???
Wow!! I graduated there in Dec. 98. Lots of good memories!!!! Thanks for finding it and sharing.......anyone out there from Dec. 98.....Miss you ALL!!!
I went to school here in 98-99 also! This is so strange! I am just amazed! What the hell happened??? What about all of the money they took from us??? Someone is living it up! SAD!

@JISINSANE3 Living here since October 1990 and growing up seeing it all change. I agree. 192 sorta went from being the other I-Drive to just essentially being Crackhead Central, especially around that Osceola Square Mall. My mom used to go there all the time back in the early 1990s, especially the Ross, and I have gone to the theater there a few times. Now that place is just freaky, especially with the interesting characters hanging around there. It all had a lot of potential, idk what happened.
Does anyone remember the field across from the main entrance of Southeastern Academy. We used to all meet there on the weekends at night and drink it up. There was a church building being built in the adjacent lot that had a huge Supersonic Jet in the middle of it. Anyone remember? Oh and there were these militia people dressed in full camo (adults and teens) playing around in the fields as well! Really bizarre!!
Thanks for the Video guys! I am shocked at the condition. I went there in Fall 1985 and it was pristine. Amazing what can happen in 25 years. Brought back a lot of memories! BTW the pool still looks the same, well if you had a hangover back then it does!
So glad you posted this....I stumbled upon it by accident. I was trying to see how to get my transcripts.....um....did you by any chance find them ? Can't believe this is what is left of the place I graduated from in Dec 1988. What happened to this place ? Can't find anymore info anywhere !!
My room was the 2nd or 3rd from the cafeteria.....I can see it in the video.....Do you have any more pics by chance ?
THIS WAS NO FLIGHT SCHOOL. They Taught TRAVEL AND TOURISM courses you nuckleheads!!!
