Great track, bought the lp with my pocket money all those years ago,but this music was way ahead of its time.I still listen to it now(on cd!),you cant beat those sweeping synths.
This is the most amazing Numan track ever, the pleasure principal is a work of art Numan forever.glad to see new fans emerging but you missed the good old days!!!
I love the way the Polymoog keyboard comes in at the beginning! I am a new Numanoid at age 19. I play synthesizers. I have a Moog little phatty, a Roland SH-201, And a Korg i4S. Gary numan's music was one of my insperations to start playing. I hope to have some of my own videos up soon.
Yes i agree with you both and as i said before they were ahead of there time in 1979/1980 and are WAAAAAYYYYYYYYY ahead of there time now, what other artists can say that about there music, not many i would guess. In my opinion everything Gary Numan did between 1979 and 1981 was truly fantastic and unique, music the like of which we will never see or hear again.
I was lucky enough to see 1 Touring Principle show in London 1979, 1 Teletour show, London 1980 and all 3 nights at Wembley for the farewell concerts so as you can see i was there right at the beginning and they were all out of this world.....absolutly the greatest shows ever. I never really liked much he did after 1981 and absolutly hate what hes doing now, what a wasted talent he is.....(in my opinion)
the shows of 1979'80 and Wembley were out of this world!!
the best Numan has ever done !! sad thing, that i couldn't see these gigs in GB,but in other parts of europe , he wasn't recognized in such a massive score,as in GB - so you couldn't get much info about him ! but you are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT , that
1979'1980 were THE years of Numan !and Wembley was the climax of it all!! and i must confess, that the material from there on ,has many reasons to be discussed !!
Yes, it's incredible.Gary's music exists out of time. After almost 30 years still so challenging, so exciting!!! Today "artists" from MTV and covers of the magazines can only dream of it ...
Yes, although Complex is a fantastic song Metal is most definatly a better choice as a single and would surely have reached No 1....Another chance missed there by Numan, just as putting This Wreckage out as a single instead of Remind me to Smile was......Although saying that i LOVE them all....truly fantastic songs. At the time they were 10 years ahead of there time....If they we released today they would be 100 years ahead of there time such is the state of music today.
you and zzzsjp are right !!but notice, that"COMPLEX",was the first electronic ballad, that reached the charts!!
long before others came,like ultravox,yazoo ...
all these songs seem to be "frozen in a time capsule",when u listen to them today, they seem to be so fresh and "modern",as if they were taped yesterday!!
Wow, this is just awesome, well done! Pleasure Principle was such a cool LP. Does anyone else agree with me that 'Metal' should have been the follow up to Cars instead of Complex? Would have gone top 3 easy.....
Class.

you're absolutely right!!but in parts,i would add:"I,ASSASSIN" .'cause in a few songs u could hear the
"old"-fantastic keyboard lines, like on "Music for Chameleons"- for me: an outstanding Numan-track !!
i'm thankful,that i was witness of that time !!
