  • This video does show how the Mormon theocracy in Salt Lake Lake City was at the forefront in pushing for discrimination against gay Americans and for making them second-class citizens by actively campaigning for Proposition 8.

  • According to the US Constitution, no citizen shall be denied equal protection under the law. If gender-discordant couples get the protections of marriage, then same-gender couples are entitled to the same protections. It's really that simple.

  • I want to punch all those intolerant arseholes in the face.

  • This is a good piece of short film craft because it shows you how prop 8 supports babies and freedom.

  • I'm LDS and do not believe that a CIVIL law endangers our institution of religious marriage. Secondly. Church and State are separate entities, period. Finally, Gay or straight we are all children of God the Father and we are all redeemed through Christ, Jesus. Let us remember and the maxim, " Let he without sin cast the first stone". Everyone desires love, to be loved and to love as their hearts and will choose.

  • @NemesisoftheGods

It is good that there are a few Mormons who are not blindly following the dictums of the church hierarchy in Salt Lake City and who are thinking for themselves. It is to be hoped that there will be other Mormons who read what you have written and will do the same. I do not know if you realize it, but the Mormon support for Proposition 8 has caused a great many non-Mormons to view the Mormon church with a great deal of suspicion and to see it very negatively.

  • @RCSVirginia

Yeah, it's a bummer. I make the distinction of Mormons (conservative, Utah-types) and LDS, Christians who support the Prophet Joseph Smith and the earlier -INCLUSIVE- church of Christ before all the sexism, racism, captialism and politicking that seemed to haved followed after B.Youngs turn as leader (Prophet). Jesus loved all... why can't we at least try, eh? I hope my love and testimony serve the Lord, the church and humanity. Blessings to you.

  • Man, am I glad prop 8 passed! I mean, if not I would by now have had been forced to marry my Mexican, gay neighbour Carlos.

  • LOL mormons talking about traditional marriage

  • Sad that the people in the video hate others.

  • Awesome! Nice to see people like myself in support of Prop 8. God fearing Christians need to band together to stop this country's slide into normalizing sexual deviancy. No S&G for my USA!

  • It's a shame all those cute people are so bigoted. Or, paid to be bigoted.

  • Agreed!

  • YOU PEOPLE DON'T WANT TO PROTECT RELIGIOUS FREEDOM. YOU JUST WANT TO PROTECT YOUR FREEDOM TO FORCE YOUR RELIGION ON OTHER PEOPLE'S LIVES.

Some arguments I've heard say it is unfair because gay people will try to adopt children. The children who need to be adopted and don't have a family want someone who loves and cares for them. Regardless of gender or sexual orientation. Do you really think a kid is going to say no to a family, possibly the first one they've ever known just cause they're GAY?

  • EXActly dude thank you

  • My Name is Bigot White Bastard, and Homo's Need To Die, This video makes me disgusted...

  • just more bullshit fundie propaganda

  • THIS IS BULL!!!! marrige should be between two people that love each other dearlyy. it doesn't matter what sex!

  • If you want to proctect traditional marriage, why are you supporting Prop. 8? You should be voting Yes on 8! Traditional marriage is when a man and women marry and leave father and mother to be married to one another....Come on, Nowhere in the bible does it have man and a man or woman or a woman marrying!!! It doesn't!! Our country was founded on biblical principles.....The Holy Bible!!!

  • when has our presidents ever cared what was in the bible? NEVER!!!! so why are you saying our country was based on the bible. our country is screwed bescause people never care about the bible!!

  • Hey Mormons, you against gay marriage? Great. Don't marry gays in your churches (excuse me, "temples.") Meanwhile let the rest of the country advance into the 21st century without your illegal interference.

    K thx bai.

  • white smileys. protecting...other idiots fr what exactly?

    inane states of america.

  • the mormon church isn't the only church supporting this yes on prop. 8 thing. wish they weren't at all though

  • i voted some of these comments up and down and they all still say 0....

  • Why has this become a "Mormon" issue? Are Mormons the ONLY people who believe in God and the plan of Happiness? Look around you... This is NOT just a Mormon issue, give me a break already!

  • They are providing 70% of the funding and according to internal documents released on wikileaks most of the legwork on the campaign. The other "Christians" haven't done much.

So, yes, the mormons are running the show and should at least get credit for it.

  • ia4prop8 asks: "Why has this become a 'Mormon' issue?"

Well, ia4, maybe because the Mormon church owns the website (preservingmarriagedotorg) that put out the slick video copied above and many others, and paid for it with tax-exempt money. That means the rest of us have to pick up the slack on the income and property taxes that THEY are exempt from. The No-on-8 ad producers sure aren't tax-exempt. Sound fair to you?

Tell them to stay out of our government AND our lives. Vote NO on Prop 8!

  • cryan: so just because a few people decided to go against what their church says means that the whole church is fake? I'm sure you know what happened to these individuals when they were discovered, they were excommunicated. What does that tell you about the church? Catholic priests did some messed up things, does that mean all Catholics are evil and want to molest little boys? All you've proven is that you don't like mormons. Who cares. Anything you say is biased and uncredible anyway

  • Oh I love mormons. I have mormon friends and neighbors.

Like they say, don't hate the sinner, hate the sin. I think that being a mormon is a sinful choice. And unlike homosexuality, it is a choice.

By their fruits you shall know them, and man Prop 8 is one rotten piece of fruit.

  • Stupidity is a choice!

  • Comment removed

  • Mormonism is a choice.

Homosexuality is a condition of being.

  • people like you are why the world has had Gacy come in it...if that phyco homo could of been open about his sexuality maybe all those young men that he slaughter wouldn't of gone out like that!!

  • So you say all homosexuals should be alone and never lose their virginity. How about you conservative straights do that.

  • Lol, what?

  • @cryan71 Wow.......you're an idiot.

  • @mikeyrobins022585

    Wow.... 2 years later?

In case you didn't get it -- I'm mocking the typical mormon response when confronted with their bigotry about gay people, which usually starts, "I can't be a bigot, I have gay friends."

  • @cryan71 Why does it matter if my response is two years later? For you to say that being a part of a religious group is sinful, well, that doesn't make sense. That kind of contradicts itself.

  • @mikeyrobins022585

Ummm.. obvious you suffered some sort of brain trauma as to not understand my previous statement. It must have been tough for you.

  • I am in support of Prop 8 too!

  • It was interesting in the view that in 2008, two mormon bishops (Timothy O'Sean McCleve, Gerald Tapp) were convicted on either child molestation or child pornography.

Another member, Martyn Conway, was convicted of molestation.

  • "Timothy O'Sean McCleve, Gerald Tapp) were convicted on either child molestation or child pornography.

Another member, Martyn Conway, was convicted of molestation"

and they ALL have something in common with you. They are ALL either EX or ANTImormons!

  • All 3 were active mormons with callings in the church. And this is just in 2008. Bishop Timothy O'Sean was a mormon bishop during the time he was molesting girls.

Yes, the old denial that mormons have a problem with this.

And I guess this is family values you want to teach California.

  • "Bishop Timothy O'Sean was a mormon bishop during the time he was molesting girls."

    that is a LIE.

O'Sean is like you, an EXmormon or an ANTImormon. I agree we need less of these!

  • Keep dreaming -- He was a mormon bishop.

  • "He was a mormon bishop. "

not while he was molesting (apparently that only means something to you, wrong is wrong, no matter whom or when)

and Judas was an apostle and they all go to the same place!

They ALL join the group of EX or ANTImormons!

  • He was a bishop.

I get it -- you don't want to believe that anyone in your church could do this -- but it happened. It happened with 3 different mormons in leadership position just in 2008.

Judas was a member of an Anti-Mormon group? Never head that tall tale.

It's funny how people who disagree with you are called names like Ex and Anti-Mormons -- but, the Mormons on these videos complain about being called bigots.

    Pot meet kettle.

  • So prop 8 is all about YOUR rights, protecting "religious freedom?"

Jesus told us to "Do unto others as we would like done to us." And "Those who judge will not find eternal salvation."

Hmmmm, looks like Jesus would vote NO on Prop 8...

Jesus was a friend to EVERYONE. We are all his children!!

  • Exactly -- for Mormons -- the D & C is clear that their religion can't be used to ursurp someone else's rights. However, they are choosing to ignore their scriptures.

  • Money over scripture. Frighteningly enough, Mormons hold a great deal of power. They also have a very absurd view of marriage and treat women like second class citizens.

  • All of what you said is incorrect. If you want to know the truth, ask a Mormon.

  • ask a mormon about mormons? - na! it wont b biased at all.

  • @TheEddyMetal

Ask away. I am not ( to my understanding) an LDS apologist. And I am still an active member. Where there is civil discourse and an appreciation for the view of the other witness and opinion, I believe that all can be shared with out bias or rancor.

And I invite criticism, for only then is one being asked to think. That in itself is a great gesture of freedom and respect to another, again IMHO.

  • Don't you also love how they always use "the children" as a scare tactic. LOL Yeah, because gay marriage effects children. IT doesn't!!
