Ubunto is the rarest PC system you can see why from them look of the task bar and the crap graphics and limited gaming capabilities. Did i say limited? Sorry i mean there are no games for Ubunto.
3.) The theme of this persons computer is just one of many, you can create themes, download themes, or use completely different desktops then what is shown in this video, this OS actually provides you with choice.
4.) The graphics are not crap. Ubuntu has more, and better desktop effects than windows and Mac.
I'm not a gamer, but there are games for ubuntu, Even so the ones that aren't necessarily made for linux still work a lot of the time and they work better than they would on Windows... example: call of duty
my ubuntu on a P4 3.00ghz, 1gb ram, win xp dual boot keeps crashing when im in firefox. at first it will refresh the monitor, and then the monitor goes black and keeps refreshig and eventually goes to the ubuntu login screen. Why is this? i remeber when i intalled ubuntu i heard an error beep at the end of the install but it seemed to carry on intalling fine and it does work but just does this all the time? any ideas?
Ubuntu is very friendly for people that don't want anything to do with terminal (like me), 8.04 is about 50x better than the version before it when it comes to running things from the interface... but before the average home user such as myself can use this as their main operating system, the program Wine needs a lot of improvement.
... Nope, no crash, even on experimental software. If the experimental stuff, which is more likely to crash, doesn't, then just think how well the stable stuff can cope.
I did a similar test on Windows Vista and found that not only does it become unresponsive the programs refuse to close with a gui method. Same hardware Ubuntu Gutsy still ran compiz effects with all the programs running.

Dirty liar. I've burned a DVD, watched TV via Windows Media Center, and rendered a scene in Lightwave running through WinUAE (Ultimate Amiga Emulator), everything was slick and responsive. Yes, that's on Vista. Your drivers or computer is just shitty. Not to mention the DFO errors you must have.
Flame me if you want, I enjoy wasting your time. On my hardware that is what happens. Sorry I have the money to get only 1/8 the ram you do. Why praise this corporation for making their os bloated on purpose? Frankly I'm glad I do not have to pay the extra money every time I want an updated os. Games that worked for a year now refuse to get frame rates over 15 in Vista.

Only assholes who lie never get a crash in Linux. Try going to a webpage and have the sound quit working because ALSA pukes. Then, you're computer FEELS slow, why? Because ARTSD is still running, using 90% cpu time.

Then you've probably done something wrong. If you have and other people have as well, you can use the live CD to visit the forums for an answer, fix the problem and, if you want, talk to someone on MSN as well.
Odd, that you're the only person I've seen complaining about such an issue - while with Windows Vista, I see more people complaining about hardware issues then praising its performance, and even then only when they've bought a brand new computer with it on.
its fast i'm jast starting with linux ubuntu 7.04 i'm enjoing it butt it keep crashing when i open firefox with flash contents in it can anybody help me?
It's a continuing problem. Have a look on google for a solution, I'm trying to fix it for myself at the moment. The current idea is that there's actually two flash plugins installed conflicting with eachother. To get rid of the hanging type "killall firefox-bin" (no quotes) at a terminal, but it should be possible to fix it fully.
No Steve! We don't think that, but one system fast, stable, secure, no crash, no virus, open-source, beautiful, free, thousands of developers worldwide working to make it better, compatible, multi-platform, is unmeasurable better than any other M$ system
One of those FAILS you can be proud of.

He's also running a screenrecord, which takes quite a bit (also why it seems so slow).

if you want to crash it, try playing flash videos. that usaly works ;)

Flash videos crash on Linux.
vahnx1337 3 years ago
If you're using KDE 2.4, maybe. Fortunately, that's several years old.
Konqueror in KDE 4.2.2 now plays flash videos flawlessly, and Firefox has been able to do it for years without problems. Your argument is void.

No, I didn't even touch anything related to the sound system. What do the say in the forums? ALSA sucks ass. Real helpful. Stupid ass.
jonah1976 3 years ago
Good thing ALSA/ARTSD has been replaced by Phonon, which is stable as an impossibly flat stone.
Presuming you were using KDE, since GNOME doesn't use ARTSD. In the end, Xine is your friend.
