I have Gemeinhardt.. It is a good brand. But a great flute/piccolo is made out of real silver, which cost about $2000. but it's well worth it for upper high-school levels if you want to put out the money.

Gemeinhardt are the probably one of the best, if not the best. Yamaha, Armstrong, are good too. Becareful if you buy from ebay, since there are "brand new" piccolos that are off brands that do not play well at all for about 70-100 dollars. :)
