I know their job is hard (I'm a healthcare worker in a hospital, occasionally ER) but patients are not given enough respect. He may have been on drugs, but he was NOT violent (in the vid, anyway), or out of control. He was uncomfortably physically restrained, so he was struggling a bit with that, but his clear & reasonable NO to the injection was ignored.

No, actually. Due to the fact that he is not is a state of mental stability or mental sanity he can not make decisions regarding his medical care. He is not in a proper state of mind and can't make rational decisions and cannot comprehend the results of his actions because he is "high" on drugs. And by law whenever someone is in either an impaired state or in such a state they cannot care for themselves, the doctors or care providers make the decisions for them. Hope you understand!

From an EMS standpoint (I'm a paramedic in NY), the doctor sedated him to keep him quiet, so they dont have to sit in the ER and listen to him, or at least thats what they are thinking. The treatment of psychs whether drug induced or not is so wrong now...

@bmogan23 If you notice, THEY ALL treated him like shit. The cops made fun of him the entire time, gave him a false sense of security, the RN that came in to give him the Ativan was a douche, and basically assaulted the patient with a needle. From an EMS standpoint (I'm a paramedic in NY), the doctor sedated him to keep him quiet, so they dont have to sit in the ER and listen to him, or at least thats what they are thinking. The treatment of psychs whether drug induced or not is so wrong now...

Plus you need to change the video name, the doctor cleary states in the end that he was on pcp, an entirely different drug than crack cocaine...

@rphinks True, but this guy appeared to be in control as if he was coming down from the drug, trust me from experience if he was on a good does of pcp and peaking then he would be going crazy, making sounds, bunch of jibberish, but he seemed to be in control despite that little twitch towards the end haha.

@rphinks Not to mention the doctor still had not got the blood samples back on the guy meaning that he didnt know what was in his system, so if it had of been the right drug, the drug they gave him could have interfered with what he was on causing respitory depression of death, if they were going to give him something should have at least waited to confirm what he was on.
