  • Wooo, sounds like you gotta a little man with a hammer in there!!

  • Rod bearings.. enough said.....

  • the engine should fix this by roar as the new one bes

  • The problem is, there is so much in a car or truck that can cause a knock, that its makes it very difficult to determine what the issue is through a video.

  • loose torque converter

  • Sounds like what happened to my truck. Rod and bearings went out. Needed a new motor.

  • Wouldn't worry about it

  • yeah its rod bearings had that same problem befor i done mine

  • Sucks dosn't it? If I were you I'd save some money, drive it till she blows then put a 350 or 262 in.

  • @asssface2000, i hope you are joking, dodge are the shits!

  • get a dodge

  • Did u change those damn rod bearings yet?? If not take it 2 a mechanic and tell em u need some

  • Had a similar noise ,. turned out to be a loose crank pulley

  • I reccomend a new truck

  • wrist pin on one cylinder letting loose. If u still got oil pressure, can't see it being a bearing. You wouldn't have any pressure. I drove mine for a year like that. no big deal...

  • Sounds like a rod knock to me. Especially the metallic sound i'm hearing and also the way it cranks.

I was gonna say at first a broken wrist pin, but it's too loud for that.

  • That is indeed a rod knock.

Its according to how long it has been knocking whether or not you need a new block or crankshaft.

  • shut her down before she blows and wastes the block. thats a rod knock if i ever heard one. if this is alowed to continue eventually the rod will let go and will come flying out of the side of the engine block and you will be in need of a whole new long block and not just a rebuild kit. then again it IS a gm so its probably better off dead anyway. a simple way to avoid this in the future is to get a ford!

  • rod bearings? doesent sound like enough of a knock to be a blown rod/block.

  • thats a chevy for ya knocking but still rocking

  • thats ur push rods easy fix

  • connectiing rods maybe?

  • sounds like spun bearings to me, my firebird did the same thing and i thought it was a rod and pulled it apart and all 8 of my barings were spun

  • at first i thought it was a rod knock, but if you listen when he turns off the truck...the knock continues and slows down gradually. If it were a rod knock, it would stop instantly with the engine. It almost sounds like you've got something rubbing against your fan.

  • is this a 305 engine?

  • is this a 305 engine?

  • is this a 305 engine?

  • yep thats a rod knock if its a 305 then its common for this to happen they aint the grates moters to give hell

  • i was gonna say maybe check the fan belt things. cuz my truck was makin that noise till i tightend up those fan belt holders and then it was gone.

  • sounds like a 6.5

  • my 96 blazer is making almost the same exact sound

  • Chevy 350 right

well did it do anything to the crank??

is that all you did was put new bearings in??

  • Its definitely a rod knock!! Sounds like one of the bearings spun. A friend of mine had a full size chevy truck with the 350 V-8 and the rod bearing on the #3 cylinder spun causing a knock just like the one on this truck

  • yup its the bearings time for a new engine :) mines got the same problem just try not to run it to much incase the rod gets thrown just incase u need to move it for something

  • lol sounds like u keep revin that damn thing ur goin to blow it up

  • It's knocking to get out :)

  • dude u need a new engine thats how my classic caprice 94 was...

  • lol i bet its a 305 lol if so its normal just run it till it dont run any more witch is normaly 100,000 miles knocking then replace it with a 350 or 454

  • I had a 91 that had the same sounding knock. I had broken the skirt off the #4 piston. (held it wide open for 5 minutes) Hope ya get it fixed.

  • omg thats bad lol

  • I know that sound all too well. That is surely a loose rod. Been there, done that! Good luck with that one...

  • 100% rod bearings

  • dude dont drive it and stop strting it rod berings and probly an oil pump thats wut happened to my 88 silverado

  • mine does the same thing

  • i used to have the same truck i loved had over 300k miles on it be 4 it blew the timing chain desided i should move to a newer truck man did i wish i kept that truck best truck i have ever had

but mine was the 262ci v6 but that motor was strong

  • you know what to do blow it up and put a new motor...p.s i not saying the chevy sucks thay are the best

  • man thats rod knock

  • i wanted 1 of does trucks but i ended up getting a 77 chevy silverado

  • needs new engine bearings

  • I have one exactly, and Im thinking of doing an overhaul....love these trucks..

  • id shit myself if that happened to my truck lol

  • ouch shes done!!!!!

  • el vendis

  • While you're at it you should replace the main bearings as well....If you haven't already

  • dang that sucks

  • dude,i want ur truck so bad..

  • I gotta ask, why do you rev it when there's obviously a problem?

  • ouchhh

350s last a while...this one must have been beaten or has logged like 500k

  • yeah that's your rod bearings for sure

  • eww this makes me cringe

  • hmm well im not sure but this sounds like a v8 but if this is a 4.3 V6 i know what it is the 4.3 V6 has a know tendency to have problems with the #1 piston my S-10 did the same this and has the same noises (not as loud but i only drove mine about 9 miles home from school and then had my dad look at it and after taking the engine out yep the bearing in the #1 was fucked and a new crank shaft and connectin rod needs to be bought im not sure about y urs is so loud

  • rod bearings failure

  • Piston slap from hell

  • are you sure about that man? because i just blew a connecting rod in my 89 silverado as well and im getting a new engine for it sure does sound the same...either way its cheaper to go with a GM replacement engine for under $2500 instead of diggin way down there to get to the rotating assembly just for a bearing you know

  • oh t yhought it was somthing bounsin off the combustion chamber or pistons

  • my 89 sounded the same after i did the intake gaskets, turns out it was the rod bearings that let go so i put a 350 in her.

  • easy easy

  • Check your flex plate bolts. We found out the hard way and 900 dallor later. The converter bolts were loose sound like bad rod. Good luck

  • it needs more then rods bearings now it needs a crate motor or either the bottom end machine work bad

  • well i think it mite be a rod its knocking you'll more then likely need a new motor, or rebuild it if you rebuild it go through Napa the will rebuild it

  • i have a same problem with my 1990 i think its the gears in the oil pump

  • uugghhh...sounds uglly!! stop the pain!

  • and crankwork

  • sounds like a rod came off the crank shaft... If it was the bearings i dont think it would have been that hard to start. Unless it was like that before, but that definitely does sound like a rod came off.. Only other thing i could think of is maybe a foreign object in your cylinders. Check the spark plugs for physical damage, if they look good it's a piston rod for sure

  • just junk it

  • Yep...definitely rod bearings. Better get that fixed before you need rods, though. I had an 89 Vette that did the same exact thing. I'm sure if you drop the oil out of it, you will see a lot of shiny particles in it...that will be the rod bearing material. A salvage yard engine can be a less expensive means of repair, if you have the tools and the place to do the work. Good luck to you!

  • yeah rob bearings are bad maybe spun

  • WOW. that sounds like total shit. lmfao. why would u make a video of it.

  • rear main berring are probly out

  • Got A Little Rod Knock?

  • hahahahahaha i almost bought a truck like that untill i started it. Thats funny I have an 1989 chevy.

  • It needs rod bearings, not a blown rod.

  • Audio came out good, I'm sure it will work fine.
