Let's face it, most of the years Edgar played the M's weren't that strong. And he couldn't do it all himself, even with very little help. But one thing is for sure, he is one of the greatest hitters in baseball history. And THAT IS A FACT. And I got his autograph.

I remember watching that series against the yankees, I was a15 years old and watched it with my dad. Here in Boston we love our baseball and all my friends loved griffey but my boy was Edgar Martinez and his insane hand and eye coordination.

WOW!!! This is such a nice tribute to Edgar, I love it! I used to live in Seattle and saw a few good games where Randy struck out a record number of players. I just remember shouting "Randy" and "Edgar!!!" Super nice excellent post bro!!!! Thank you so much!

I miss Edgar Martinez, I had to sign in just to post a comment on the BEST DESIGNATED HITTER OF OUR GENERATION & POSIBLY OF ALL-TIME. Come'on Hall Of Fame voters, what's wrong with you guys? Why didn't you guys let him get enough votes? If it was only because he was a DH then you guys shouldn't be Hall Of Fame voters. He's the best ever at the DH Position, so what if he didn't play defense. At the end of the day....it's the hittin' that counts. & he single handedly DESTROYED the Yanks in '95.

I miss him on the team. I grew up in seattle and have so many mariner game memories with him. he was a great player and great person to meet outside of the stadium. met him and got his autograph several times.

I really hate when they broke up that '95 team you guys in Seattle should have had multiple championships.Since my Tigers sucked like a pornstars vacuum cleaner,the Mariners were my adopted team since the late 80's.Losing Tino and Blowers was so unfair to you guys all because market size dictated what you could afford to pay your players.A great chapter in baseball history never got to be written.

Simply the best baseball player to arise from Seattle. I mean, no one is like him. Baseball respects him, Seattle loves him, he's the game's best DH! I was so upset when he retired. This guy knew the game from the inside out. No ther players from Seattle have the art mastered like him. Not Ichiro, Not Griffey, not A-Rod, only Martinez. Baseball cannot shut him out from the Hall of Fame. He deserves it more than any player I know.
