another way is to go to settings click social ang click link account to fb twitter and google click the one for google then click cant acess my account and at the bottom it says google home page and i works for the 1.1.0 version
I mean I'll stay on my current firmware version, so as not to lose the web-browser. But I think B&N are being real a***holes for not giving us a choice.
the update 1.1.0 , removed this feature. And as per nook support. they said, the previous webpage i was accessing were splash screens. ( Give me a break).
THANK GOD! My mom got this for her birthday and I've been messing around with it, and I was kind of disappointed when I couldn't find an internet option...but now I've found it. :) Thanks!
@emmanuel645645 wait for kindle 4. Even if the nook touch remains better, you will have both options. If you buy nook now you will not know if you're doing the best thing. It's my opinion
If this thing has a hidden browser like this, is it fair to say that maybe an update from b/n will give us this type of functionality in the future? Wondering if I should risk rooting or just wait -
Oh SWEET. I just bought this today expecting just an e-reader, but to know I accidentally got something that can browse the web, even if a bit shaky, is awesome!
The Nook Color actually had a bluetooth radio as an unannounced easter egg, which wasn't discovered until someone tore it apart and now works on custom ROMs. The only question is whether B&N or nookdevs/XDA will get the browser up to speed first.
@NookSource: Bluetooth? I would think not, but you never know until someone breaks one of these open (which may have happened by now). The Nook Color and Nook Touch do have some hardware in common--if they use the same Wi-Fi radio with unused BT functionality, it's possible.
Sweet!! They probably didn't mention it because it's not a 'refined' experience, but a neat feature nonetheless! I'm not looking to make a Nook my primary tablet, but this does improve it's usefulness a ton.
Great find. Works relatively well. Epub downloads won't appear in the library because nook only looks for ebook files only in one specific location. The downloads are being saved elsewhere.
nook shut down the hidden browser... those bastards

Damn you, B&N ! I won't update the firmware just to keep browser working. Don't want to root.

When you update to the 1.1.0 version you lose the browser. Time to root mine.

Should I buy it or wait for kindle 4 ?
emmanuel645645 7 months ago
@emmanuel645645 i definitely recommend the nook touch. its better.
here are some reasons why
1. the nook touch has a wider variety of books availabe
2. its faster
3. its probably even going to be cheaper than the amazon kindle 4 when it is released
4. its smaller and more portable
5. it has a nice and more comfortable grip to it
6. its TOUCHSCREEN
7. its much more useful. Of course some of these may be opinions but if u ask me get the nook. im not stopping u though these are just my thoughts
