And I really hope he comes back to that, but he's publicly denounced it and said it never happened. It seems as if he got so sick of organized religion so he got scared and backed out. I hope he learns that it's not all like that.
You joking? I love mewithoutYou but everybody knows hes ripped the shit out of Leonard Cohen... Maybe you should go along and listen him... then you would see Dylan is the most unique artist off all time.
Well, Bob Dylan had an awful voice as does Weiss, but Aaron, in my opinion, is much more of a poet than Dylan ever was. Dylan had a sense of pretentiousness to him, it was "cool" to be a Bob Dylan fan. Aaron Weiss is in my opinion the greatest writer to ever enter music. He is simply a poet, a true, sincere poet.
I don't think there is any "best poet". I think Dylan had some great words in his songs. Aaron Weiss's hit home more for me because he talks about God and such. I think that when people have something good to say and have a way with words, they can write something incredible.
However, I am not discrediting Aaron. He is a very talented poet.
the thing you have to consider is that Aaron does not really write all his own stuff all the time, he usually takes from others. Hes admitted to that on many occasions.
As an unwavering Bob Dylan fan, I can't much stand for these covers - only Jimi Hindrix, George Harrison and several others have ever done justice to any Dylan material - because, for instance, when I have the "The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan" as well as the overwhelming preponderance his voluminous discography at hand, I just cannot in it's place possibly listen to these covers: it has to do with 'essence,' an essence in Dylan and in particular these songs as performed by Dylan.
But I wouldn't take anything away from this guy as a performer. A performer who appears to be enjoyed by Christian's extreme in content. It is correct that a true performer performs their own original material: it's to be seen by me whether this particular performer has any such ability.
I will however comment that young Christians (Evangelical, "fundamentalist," 'literal' or otherwise fanatical in some sense) in the 2000's embracing Bob Dylan's staple secular acoustic so-called "folk-music" from the sixties is a bit more than just simply paradoxical: it's irony in the tragic sense of the term.
Great job Aaron. I like this straight forward rendition of a timeless classic. Keep em' coming. Check out my rendition of this song and let me know what you think.
I agree, we should all strive to emulate Christ and not Aaron, but Aaron sets a great example of what it means to emulate Christ for those who listen to him speak and play. He proves the point that Christianity isn't just some separate part of our lives that we separate from the world. He lives the Christ-like lifestyle we should all be trying to live, and by doing so proves that we can do the same.
aaron weiss is a really nice guy. i wish everyone wouldn't put him on a pedestal though. i sometimes feel like christian friends of mine are more interested in emulating aaron weiss in their style than emulating christ in their actions.
i agree, although aaron weiss has great humility and passion and many other virtues, he is a mere man. we should be emulating the one he is emulating so well, the creator
I would like to follow him as much as he seems to follow Christ. I hope you and your friends do the same. Enough people put Aaron down. I love him for what he stands for.
@aseigh When one is Christ-like, he or she emulates the truth of the human soul--the way we were created to be before we fell to pride, and the wicked indulgence of our selfish ways. They remind us of a forgotten Eden, they bring us hope, and truth. However, there is a difference in emanating the truth of God, and actually being God. My prayers and hopes and faith rest in God, while Aaron is merely a fallen man I admire for his attempt to rise back up.

"how come every time a band talks about God or their beliefs everyone gets into a hissy fit.
I love Bob Dylan
I love Aaron
Aaron loves Bob Dylan
and also loves God
Its all love
so stop fighting"
To add on to this... Bob Dylan also loves God... he converted to Christianity sometime in the late 70's or ealry 80's

in response to your line: "it's to be seen by me whether this particular performer has any such ability."
he's the lead-singer of the amazing band mewithoutYou -- check them out to get the validation you're apparently assuming doesn't exist.
