I believe that the death penalty should be looked at differenty. I think that if a person takes a life, than they should have to be held in prision for the remainder of their life. I think that the death penalty is not nessesary. In a way they wont have to deal with what they have done, and that in my opinion shouldnt happen. They should have to sit in jail, with no privileges for the rest of their life, thinking about what they did and how they will never escape it.

...continued. This has been proven time and time again. All it does is "harden" the children and make them worse. Granted our juvenile system is far from perfect, but a child who goes through it has a much better chance of being rehabilitated than a child who is sent to an adult prison to learn from, and be preyed on, by some of the worst people society has to offer.

Now to answer your question. I don't want to get off topic, but I will and it will answer your question. The idea of children being "tried as adults" is simply absurd. It is nothing but political nonsense. For example, when was the last time you heard of a politician run on the platform that they were soft on crime? The reason that the Juvenile system was set up was for children, the idea of sending them to prison is insane.

If her story is true, why doesn't anyone bring up the real issue here?? If the boyfriend did kill the victim, it is up to HIM to come forward and confess to save Delara's life. He's letting her hang for something HE did!! And as far as her being executed...the victim's family WANTS her to be executed. If the family didn't want it, they wouldn't do it. They asked if the family wanted to change their mind: they didn't.

I am sure it was not just Delara who was the target of execution. She suffered this punishment instead of millions of supporters of human rights. Islamic regime of mullahs in Iran was targeted and that meant some bloods should be shed. I am sure if they could arrest me and you they would do the same punishment with us.

Then I believe Delara wasn't executed for a childhood crime, but sacrificed her life instead of all of us.

I was AGAINST executing her. BUT SHE IS NOT INNOCENT.

She either assisted in a murder or committed it herself. Either way, she was guilty. The victim, a mother of 3, received 18 stab wounds!

After the murder, she did not report it to the police, thus concealing the murder, and protecting the killer.

The murder occurred as she and her boyfriend robbed a relative of hers, Mrs Mahin Darabi, mother of three. So, the murder took place as part of an illicit act in which she willingly participated.

She did not commit the crime. She may have been an accessory to the murder but that's it. She was coerced into confessing and then never received a fair trial. Why innocent? One reason is that she was left handed and could not do anything with her right hand. The murderer, right handed. She was murdered even though she had a stay of execution and Iranian law requires that the family and lawyer be notified 48 hours in advance. She was able to call her family a few minutes before her death.

Actually, she has never claimed that she was coerced into confessing. She claimed that she confessed out of the kindness of her heart to save her accomplice from the death penalty.

Is she telling the truth?  Maybe. I don't know. But the problem is that it doesn't match her initial testimony, which was: "He hit the woman on the head with the bat. He told me to grab a knife from kitchen, and I did. He then told me to stab her, and I did."

Even the brutal State of Texas, who loves to execute anybody, recently banned the executions of juveniles and mentally handicapped people.

If a juvenile is not allowed to legally act as an adult in ANY manner, ie: Vote, enter into legally binding agreements, or drink alcohol, then What is the logic behind them being able to be punished as an adult ? Most kids are IMPRESSIONABLE and easily succumb to peer pressure, hence, them being considered "Juvenile."

Those judges who personally executed Delara were radical Islamists and had political intention. Since these radical people dont value the general opinion and have paranoia against any social movement, then show implosive reactions to international pressure and interpret it as propaganda against their Islamic government. They executed Delara to show their control over critical situations. It had a message to Iranians that this is the Islamic government who has the control, not their people.

ok, I am All FOR the death penalty in the case of 1st degree murder (murder with intent), drug trafficking (large quantities), Child molesters and pedophiles, and Rapists (not statutory rape). HOWEVER IM COMPLETELY AGAINST THE DEATH PENALTY FOR MINORS. IF AYONE HAS ANY QUESTIONS FEEL FREE TO REPLY TO MY COMMENT.
