In my personal opinion, the thing that stood out (amongst the sheer athletisism, consistant serve and return, heavy forehand and unbelieveable backhand), was Novak's will to continue winning. The animation and showing of emotion (with his spine tingling celebrations after big points) showed the tennis world how much it means to him. Novak is turning our game into the toughest sport on earth. And aren't we all loving it.
@dinoman6 I personnally dont like the way tennis is going. The last australian open final was completly disturbing at this point: this is not tennis anymore, this is boxing.
Nadal and Djokovic were not at their best, but the tennis they showed was bad quality (the mental / physical war was what made this final great, but thats all).
This is becoming way too much about physical abilities. Not much creativity, shot selection... more about hitting the ball as much as possible.

For example last year Djokovic and Murray had a tough match in Rome. Djokovic won. Murray won the Cincinatti tournament before the US Open. But Djokovic won the UO. Murray is fully capable of winning a masters, but he struggles to beat the top players in a major. You just got to compare the slams: Fed 16, Rafa 10, Nole 5, Andy 0. This speaks for itself!
Federer was the best player ever three years ago. He still holds that record, but he is no longer and better than Murray IMO. I believe that Murray has been held back by his mental game. We know he CAN beat the big three, and we also know how humiliated he was in the GS finals (although less so the third). Once he can sort out his mental game, he finally has the *ability* to win GSs, and his match against Djoko and his attitude after the match shows how great his attitude now is.

I find these pre-mature celebrations on Djokovic always so funny. The guy had a great year in 2011 but come on let's be serious, is one year enough to say his greatness will stand the test of time. He still has alot of catching up to do in terms of greatness, one great year doesn't mean shit.

I'm AMERICAN and I loveeeee Novak Djokovic!! I've never seen a tennis player with soooo much heart, will, determination, and courage as Nola. The guy has three match points against him versus the greatest tennis player of all time in Roger Federer and still grinds him out and beats him and then faces another powerhouse in Rafael Nadal and drags him into deep water and beats him too!
He is also pure class and seems to be steadfast gentleman off the court. I hope he wins many many more titles!
Changing his diet and attitude has payed huge dividends for Novak. Not only does he get balls back that should be winners, but he brings them back with pace inside the court . His unique ability to stretch out for balls and defend is the best I've seen in a long time. Only Rafa comes close in recent memory. Right now, Novak's confidence is sky high and the only thing that can bring him back to earth is injury.

I'm AMERICAN and I loveeeee Novak Djokovic!! I've never seen a tennis player with soooo much heart, will, determination, and courage as Nola. The guy has three match points against him versus the greatest tennis player of all time in Roger Federer and still grinds him out and beats him and then faces another powerhouse in Rafael Nadal and drags him into deep water and beats him too!
He is also pure class and seems to be steadfast gentleman off the court. I hope he wins many many more titles!

Changing his diet and attitude has payed huge dividends for Novak. Not only does he get balls back that should be winners, but he brings them back with pace inside the court . His unique ability to stretch out for balls and defend is the best I've seen in a long time. Only Rafa comes close in recent memory. Right now, Novak's confidence is sky high and the only thing that can bring him back to earth is injury.
