I'm not a huge fan of Journey and there are lots of people out there who can cover Steve Perry. If this was the only thing he did, I'd agree with some of the negative responses here. But click around a bit. This guy covers Steve Perry, Peter Cetera, Joey Tempest, Jimi Jamison, Steven Tyler, Russell Hitchcock, Axle Rose, and just for the show throws in Meatloaf. Anyone who thinks this guy isn't talented is kidding themselves.

I think the "he's no Perry" point has been made more than enough, and we all know the differences between the two: at the times of Faithfully (1983) Steve Perry was 34, probably at the peak of his vocal prowess, while Arnel entered Journey at 40, which makes a huge difference when trying to reach the highest notes. That said, I appreciate Arnel's effort in bringing his flair to Journey's classic songs sidestepping the trap of imitation, and the new songs are good too.

OK the guy is not Steve Perry that being said I think he does a great job keeping the the tempo of the song along with the correct inflection. I don't think Steve was Journey He was a big part of what made the band great but forgot that a band is more than just an individual.. I saw Journey with Arnel live in Tahoe, one of the best shows I've ever seen and he's one of the hardest working singers I've ever seen. Loved every minute of it.

I saw Journey with Arnel live in Tahoe, one of the best shows I've ever seen and he's one of the hardest working singers I've ever seen. Loved every minute of it.

The band got him cause he sounds like Steve Perry. Why would Journey higher someone that sounds totally different. This isn't american idol where they say "you made it your own song." They trying to replace their main singer and what better way then with Arnel who sounds exactly like Steve Perry.

candicelives - i thk mayb ur facts r a bit off - Steve Perry & Neal Schon r d credited songwriters "Dont Stop Believin" but D was D entire band. N D Time3 ths song is xplained Schon developed D bass D guitar line & D chords on D chorus. Steve Smith D drum a lot of tom-toms, Perry & Cain drew frm their xperiences w/ Sunset Strip street scene 4 D lyrics, "streetlight people." This was 1 of D 1st Journey songs Jonathan Cain played on. Like i said hardcord, long time fans.

For them to allow him [Perry] to hold the band hostage, and the money in '84 and '85 and every year thereafter because that '86 money could have been just a real Journey tour with just a replacement singer and this kid they have now [Arnel Pineda] can sing that material right now in the original keys in a very credible way and there's no way Steve Perry could touch that. Come on people, Arnel isn't trying to be Steve Perry. There's only 1 Perry, the fact that Journey themselves found a guy that can sing to his heart's content and just be happy singing is what matters. Don't hate on Arnel just because he loves singing. Money is only 2nd to him but he was blessed-----and by god he deserves it. He might be imitating Perry's signature voice but only because Arnel loves singing Journey songs and u know what they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
