@UNDEAD5551 Your ultimate depends on your bar at the bottom screen. Usually they're just Forward + O, Down + O, and Back + O. Depends on the amount of sp bar you have.

Im at the alternative storyline after i beat Balton in a city, that purple 'evil spirit' thing comes out and summons this buffed blue monster and it takes forever to kill him and eventually time runs out. also when i try to use spirit (pressing R), instead of powering up, Ultra father comes out and tells me something that i dont understand. HELP?

You need to wait until the blue guy uses his ultimate.. Then press O when you see a symbol come out on the bottom right.. (counter symbol I believe)... This causes you to counter the enemy's ultimate.. You need to have at least the 2nd bar of SP...

Hmm.. I"m not sure if there's any special requirement in beating the last boss... But if you're having trouble try one these.

1) Change setting to easy (Vid tells you how)

2) Use R/L to unlock a scene. (It's a must in a certain part of the game.. )

3) Use O when bosses uses their ultimate to counter (also a must). You need at least 2 bars!

It's okay.. just keep playing through the game. It's part of the story. You then have to keep using --> + O until you regain part of your energy.

Basically do as many squares and right after the last button you press triangle. Then you press any direction button and O. (depending on how much you have in the SP bar)
