setup the parts are american built and the major comp are american and the German companies that you are talking about they did a very small part people always do this with american cars well the designing was helped by some euro country who care the parts that matter the most are american and that engine is not foreign but at least they were german developers not french we all can agree on that

Ever since the C5, vettes have been extremely refined and reliable especially considering their price point & performance. You can take a 1000 mile trip in comfort and get 30mpg, and beat a Lambo in the process.
for your information, i have done my homework. i am a g.m master mechanic of 10 years. i work on this crap everyday, thats why i only buy japanese cars! true, you can take a long trip in a z06, but after about 30,000 miles you can expect to need new cylinder liners, or worsr, a new engine. i have replaced 2 new zo6 engines already! i see this crap first hand! but this crap also pays my mortgage, so keep on building crap chevrolet!
Maybe there is a few glitches with the new LS7 engine, I don't know that much about it yet, but the LS6 engine is rock solid and this has been proven for many years. The car overall is very reliable. Don't forget you only see problems. Thats what you do is fix problems. If you were a BMW tech or Benz tech you'd think they were unreliable too. Go to corvetteforum dot com (about 50,000 members) and make a poll about the reliability of their C5's and you will see how wrong you are.
of course people who love their cars arent going to say bad things about them, no matter how unreliable they are, and the ls6 has many of the same problems as the ls7 (cooling, head gaaskets, oil leaks, etc) and by the way, mercedes' and bmw's are not that reliable either. the only "rock solid" brands are toyota, honda and nissan, and even they have had their fair share of problems. no car is "perfect"
plus, japanese cars dont see the same major problems as american cars, most problems people get with toyotas and the like are trim pieces, tire vibrations, etc.. not engines, trannys, and starters. they have the power to do it, but poor top level decisions at gm are going to sink the company.. unless nissan or toyota takes them over.
ngtr2009, its not just people making up stories because they love this car. its a fact that the C5 and LS6 is overall very reliable. I can giver you 100's of example's like a local guy who runs a maggine superhcarger and a 100-shot of n20 on his 01 Z06 with 100k miles and zero problems....
yes i know, like i said, not all vettes have poor reliability, but an overwhelming majority of them do. the point im trying to make is, you can beat up a japanese performance car all day everyday and it will never miss a beat, but when you try that in american cars, you can gaurantee you will have some major problems!

You know nothing and aren't a master tech for gm obviously. My car is pushing around 600 hp at the engine and almost as much torque on a stock bottom end LS1. The car is wayyyyyyyyyyyy over 30k miles, no oil leaks, no new cylinder liners no major porbs at all and man the engine is strong as ever. So your saying a vette that is stock will have more problems than I am at 30k miles?
like i said before, not every gm car is prone to always have trouble, yes there are some good ones out there. what im trying to say is that you will definately get much better reliability out of a japanese car. so out of 100 american cars, about 10 of them will be reliable, compare that to japanese cars like toyota, where every 92 out of 100 are reliable. and if you dont think i'm a master gm tech, i will start posting pics of the vettes i work on.

yep the last one was wrong. That vette was not stock. Murci's acceleration is much faster. Z06(0-60 in 3.7/ Murci(0-60 in 3.4).

Kudos to the z06, the first real american supercar, still very un-refined and un-reliable though. cant wait to see a video of the new nissan gtr pulling away from the zo6!

haha, Z06 is unrefined and unreliable?? Thats too funny. Maybe try and educate yourself before you make ridiculous comments. Ever since the C5, vettes have been extremely refined and reliable especially considering their price point & performance. You can take a 1000 mile trip in comfort and get 30mpg, and beat a Lambo in the process.

for your information, i have done my homework. i am a g.m master mechanic of 10 years. i work on this crap everyday, thats why i only buy japanese cars! true, you can take a long trip in a z06, but after about 30,000 miles you can expect to need new cylinder liners, or worsr, a new engine. i have replaced 2 new zo6 engines already! i see this crap first hand! but this crap also pays my mortgage, so keep on building crap chevrolet!

Maybe there is a few glitches with the new LS7 engine, I don't know that much about it yet, but the LS6 engine is rock solid and this has been proven for many years. The car overall is very reliable. Don't forget you only see problems. Thats what you do is fix problems. If you were a BMW tech or Benz tech you'd think they were unreliable too. Go to corvetteforum dot com (about 50,000 members) and make a poll about the reliability of their C5's and you will see how wrong you are.

of course people who love their cars arent going to say bad things about them, no matter how unreliable they are, and the ls6 has many of the same problems as the ls7 (cooling, head gaaskets, oil leaks, etc) and by the way, mercedes' and bmw's are not that reliable either. the only "rock solid" brands are toyota, honda and nissan, and even they have had their fair share of problems. no car is "perfect"

plus, japanese cars dont see the same major problems as american cars, most problems people get with toyotas and the like are trim pieces, tire vibrations, etc.. not engines, trannys, and starters. they have the power to do it, but poor top level decisions at gm are going to sink the company.. unless nissan or toyota takes them over.

ngtr2009, its not just people making up stories because they love this car. its a fact that the C5 and LS6 is overall very reliable. I can giver you 100's of example's like a local guy who runs a maggine superhcarger and a 100-shot of n20 on his 01 Z06 with 100k miles and zero problems....

yes i know, like i said, not all vettes have poor reliability, but an overwhelming majority of them do. the point im trying to make is, you can beat up a japanese performance car all day everyday and it will never miss a beat, but when you try that in american cars, you can gaurantee you will have some major problems!

Again, to say that the "overwhelming majority" of vette's are unreliable, is complete and total horsesh*t. it's sad that a GM mastertech is this clueless. try doing some actual research. Again, start by going to corvetteforum dot com. There's 150,000 corvette owners there..many of which track their cars, meaning they are driven HARD, and ask them about the reliability.

Not only the overwhelming majority of vettes, but the overwhelming majority of american cars period! myself, being a gm mechanic, and previous p.o.s corvette owner (94 zr-1) I can tell you that i see this crap first hand!! im not making this up! you do YOUR research! stop hating japanese cars for being the best! i know that youre loyal to gm, but japanese cars are MUCH better than the second hand crap g.m is putting out! their sales numbers show it!

so, if g.m. keeps losing billions of dollars, how do you expect they will be able to stay in business? let alone build new products? i know a lot of you love g.m. hell, i love em because i make close to 100K a year fixing this crap! but we all know that g.m. wouldnt be in the trouble they're in if they built good cars! in fact, 33% of people who purchased toyotas last year were former g.m, ford and chrysler owners GO FIGURE! you are obviously in denial!!

You know nothing and aren't a master tech for gm obviously. My car is pushing around 600 hp at the engine and almost as much torque on a stock bottom end LS1. The car is wayyyyyyyyyyyy over 30k miles, no oil leaks, no new cylinder liners no major porbs at all and man the engine is strong as ever. So your saying a vette that is stock will have more problems than I am at 30k miles?

like i said before, not every gm car is prone to always have trouble, yes there are some good ones out there. what im trying to say is that you will definately get much better reliability out of a japanese car. so out of 100 american cars, about 10 of them will be reliable, compare that to japanese cars like toyota, where every 92 out of 100 are reliable. and if you dont think i'm a master gm tech, i will start posting pics of the vettes i work on.

LOL, that's horsesh*t! I don't care what you think you know, you are clueless and buy too much into the foreign car thing. yes, Toyota is the most reliable, but the difference is no where near as great as you think and again, since the C5, corvette's have proven to be VERY reliable & very solid all-around. And all things considered, it's hands down the most financially efficient supercar, period.

what do you think, toyota became # 1 in the world with record breaking profits by building crap? no!! they did it by building first class vehicles that are affordable. and while youre talking, look at g.m.s sales numbers, they havent made a profit in 8 years! they lost over 10 billion last year alone!

you know what, i agree with your claim: for the money, there is no better supercar out there than the ZO6 (until the new 500 horse nissan gtr comes out this year) I have driven the zo6, i have seen the videos, and hands down, it is a bad ass car!! Would I buy one? yes, because I can fix it when it breaks down!! would i buy one if i wasnt a mechanic HELL NO! THIS is what most people think when they buy toyotas!

Lol, they aren't making profits b/c they are paying boneheads like you $100k/yr. I already agreed that Toyota is #1 in quality (albeit, boring cars) However, the disparity is no where near your exaggerations. You are flat-out wrong about C5 reliability. It's in the top 10 of JD Powers for all cars. Go to Edmunds - editors most wanted & consumers most wanted. Look at the reliability rating of the 100's of consumer ratings, they are all rated 9-10. Go to corvetteforum & ask the 100k+ members.
