It is common knowledge that the INA was not allowed into independent India. The congress was afraid of men who would give their lives for the country, because they would not be sitting ducks looking on at the atrocities commited by the native politicians as well.Bose is rumoured to have lived in political exile as Gumnami baba(monk) in remote central India and he passed away in 1985.If he ruled,we would have been closer to Japan,Korea and taiwan and emerged economically atleast 3 decades earlier.
Despite Netaji and INA losing ultimately(because of many reasons lets not get into it)he is still revered because,in our dharmic culture as long as the action is performed well thats all is required. The results do not matter. He performed his duty to India very well.Dharma and Karma. As emperor Meiji would say," Rich country, strong army" is necessary to keep your unique culture free of forced invasion and manintain national sovereignty. The failure to do so has scarred human history
Ah ha! I knew Japan and India are brothers yet some people in America don't get it. They see the partnership as pure politics dressed up with the happy idea of the two nations having a loving brotherly relationship.
Indo-Nippon Alliance thats awsome! One day china will set up its bases all over latin america. Its allready happening in Venezuela and Cuba, Puerto Ricos next.
Earlier I tthink I made a comment questioning the relevance of Netaji in China. I take that back. Netaji was involved in Chinese affairs though not in a very big way. He lead a medical mission to nanjing province in 1937.
Not many people particularily in China know about this and many Indians are mostly ignorant about it but eye witness accounts of both Chinese and Indians testify that Netaji was in China in the 1950s helping Chairman Mao in his struggle against Chiang Kai Shek. Netaji as such did have some disregard for Chiang Kai Shek terming his government during WWII as being protectorates of Britain and America.
So if there is any reason why Asia can achieve some sort of unification (economic and political alliance), it isn't because of our long history of "sibling rivalries" if you will...
Europe is equally as diverse in culture as Asia. And don't even bother implying they've all been good friends throughout history, because the most powerful allies in the EU today have been the most bitter of enemies not too long ago. Same as China, Japan, Korea, Southeast asia...
According to tenchama7 Asia has more to fear from Asian nations.
If there is any misunderstanding among Asian nations it is because of they are not united either economically or politically. If Asian countries unite there would be greater economic and political relations between Asian countries.Netaji wanted to create an Asian block out of the most important Asian nations i.e india, china, japan and s.e asian countries.
But unite under what banner? Under what value? Asia is a diverse continent with hundereds if not thousands of cultures and languages. India is better off maintaining its sovereignty. Both politically and economically.
tenchama7, correct, the EU is the only group with any form of political alliance, however, the EU started out merely as a trade union (EEC of 1957), and look where it is now. Trade unions are predecessors to political unions. Another example would be South America. Their CSN started out as a trade union, but now has officially stated that their ultimate goal is to create and common currency, passport, and a parliament so eventually they will have something similar to rival the EU.
tenchama7, However, the situation in Asia is pitiful. Asia is still the only region where not only do we not have a political regional alliance, but we don't even have a regional trade agreement, whereas every single other continent/region has somesort of a regional concsious. Is their a threat? Maybe there is, maybe there isn't. You tell me.
Most of Asia's present internal problems are caused either directly or indirectly by western countries.Their influence is nothing less than a threat to our integrity and freedom. This would not have happened if the Asian countries united into an economic union.
How do you know that the Chinese wouldnot use this arrangement to precisely limit the integrity and freedom of Free India? The Chinese maynot seek cooperation in an Asian Union but dominance.
@suryavajra The Chinese would not be invited. They don't join unions, they have SAR(special autonomous regions)like Tibet,Hong Kong,Macau. If they were to join, based on representation they would insist that Arunachal pradesh become a SAR and so does Kashmir! Not to mention Korea..we should have a small union of developed countries like Japan and South Korea and a emerging country with a huge economy and high growth rate like India and the resources of Australia. That union shall be called fab four ;)
cilantro, very wisely spoken. I believe that if it were a small union confined to members who share similar values and have interests that compliment one another, than it would be a very beneficial, long term relationship.
@tenchama7 well the EU is no european brotherhood, but what about the BENELUX(1955) union or the Scandinavian union(1870s),Norid battlegroup etc? these countries united based on commonalities in culture, that IMHO is what is called a brotherhood.EU does'nt work.If germany pulls out EU will collapse although peace in the region will last.India and Japan have no bad blood historically and India can benefit from most advanced technology while Japan gets exposure to one of the largest emerging markets
tenchama7, thank you for finally joining us in our discussion. Now here's a question worth answering! Asia needs unification for various reasons, but especially to counter continental regionalisms that are maturing throughout other parts of the world. Europe's EU, South America's CSN, and North America's NAFTA are very realistic and constructive organizations that the Asian peoples should especially not underestimate before it is too late.
I differ in my opinion. None of these regional arrangements have worked ot in the ways the framers anticipated. Living in North America, there are many distrubing aspects of NAFTA. And the EU Constitution was defeated in a referendum in France! There may be an elite support for such a move, but not a popular support. India should maintain its sovereignty and be free to chart its own destiny. It doesnot need other countries to make it great. It is great in its own way.
The Japanese can be racist all they want, at least they are honest about it. They have a good immigration policy, ie, no immigration policy. It's great. American and Europe should follow their lead.
But IT IS VERY VERY WRONG ON HIS PART TO COMMENT THAT "THE BEST THING ABOUT THIS WAS THE FACT THAT HE DID SOMETHING FOR US THAT NO ONE COULD DO" (ORIGINAL WORDS TAKEN FROM THIS INTERVIEW), INDIA GOT FREEDOM BECAUSE OF ALL THE PEOPLE OF INDIA, these Legends will be remembered because they created A FIRE , MOTIVATION To FIGHT BACK inside the mind of every INDIAN
Please ask this gentelmen about SHAHEED BHAGAT SINGH - RAJGURU - SUKHDEV (if he knows them), the one which happened with them should be remembered throughout the life by every indian, I am not saying i am not appreciating BOSE work, I respect him the same as others.
Well after looking at this video, i am somehow feeling happy, this gentelmen spoked well, but i am afraid somehwere in between ( 0:40 to 0:42) he said that he did which other indian people of that time failed to do, please do not mind this but i really think it is very wrong. One can not give the whole credit to SUBASH CHANDRA BOSE only, the whole of the India fought for it.

There's a discussion going on!? I didn't realise! Anyway, thank you for your polite reply.
These regional groups that you mention are trading partners only ,the E.U.(previously the European
Economic Union) is the exception in having a form of political union.(there is no european brotherhood,
the idea would be laughable to most europeans!)What kind of grouping would you like to see formed in
Asia? By using the words, "before it's too late," are you implying that there's a threat?

H.T.Europe suffered a thousand years of war, culminating in the
bloodbaths of WW1 and WW2.Certainly,the desire for peace was
the underlying reason for the foundation of the E.U.(EEC),it was not formed to counter an external threat.

HeihachiT 4 years ago
H.T."situation in Asia pitiful?".I would say 'understandable',
given the wide differences between Asian countries in terms of developement, wealth, ethnicity, population etc.I can only see
an internal threat to Asia, although the likely crash of the
U.S. would create a power vacuum and as we know, vacuums tend to
get filled.

particularly dark skinned Indians. Indians,Pakistanis
are treated like third citizens in Japan.Don't

I agree,Japan has a good immigration policy (no immigration)a I think the U.S./E.U.would do well to
follow suit. But this and other videos are suggesting
the idea of a mythical "brotherhood" between Japan
and India.(re-writing history to that end). The context
is the growing military and economic power of China.
tenchama7 4 years ago
>>>The context is the growing military and economic power of China.
And the context of Martin Luther King's I have a dream speech is the growing number of Martians in Yugoslavia.

The problem with your King/Martian/Yugoslavia theory
is that Yugoslavia no longer exists.
China hate Japan.Japan no friends.Japan want India friend.

haha, it was a joke my friend. I'm sorry that you have no sense of humor.
my point was that, quite honestly, I, along with raghunathgunj have no idea you (tenchama7) are talking about.
what on earth does Netaji and China have to do with each other?
do you mind explaining your argument because quite frankly, so far you have failed to make any rational explanation.
HeihachiT 4 years ago
Are you really unable to understand my joke?
I said that Yugoslavia does not exist, and so implied
that I believe in Martians! If you are unable to 'get'
this simple joke, you are also unable to get the asian big
picture, unlike many rightists.I am releaved! Are you
a Jieitai member?

still can't come up with anything intellectual to say about Netaji?
here, I'll post the same question that I posted below. maybe it'll rehash your short memory span:
what on earth does Netaji and China have to do with each other?
do you mind explaining your argument because quite frankly, so far you have failed to make any rational explanation.
