I've never understood this. Well, I do, but it's still silly. Why would you want to have life in prison over the death penalty? Are you that afraid of death you'd rather live in a cage? How does living in a cage become more humane? Just put me out of my misery.

@gxxr1130 Live in a cage = 3 free meals a day, a roof over your head and a place to sleep, free medical treatment, watch tv all day, exercise, sex (most likely with those of same sex, but still sex) I could go on and on..and its all funded by tax dollars

Any word from Crowe himself? There's a clip on Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison dvd where they interview a guy who also had his sentence commuted in the 11th hour.

Very intense.

The Georgia Pardons and Parole Board on Thursday commuted a death sentence, just hours before the convicted killer was to be executed by lethal injection.

The five-member board commuted admitted murderer Samuel David Crowe's death sentence to life without parole less than 2 1/2 hours before he was scheduled to die Thursday evening for a crime 20 years ago.
