@KyoTheFoxDemon , If this was recorded at the festival, then I don't understand how your school got only second best rating. It is so easy for parts of this lovely sarabande to get obscured and "mushy," but it's perfectly clear in this recording, without being the least bit heavy-handed. It's wonderful. Good job.
This was the musical theme that was used in the television show in the early 1950's with Peggy Wood called, "I Remember Mama." It was heard in the opening segment when the narrator was going through the family album........."but most of all, I remember Mama." That beautiful, haunting melody has stayed with me for my enitre life.........bittersweet, melancholic, and lovely.
@kurtsupreme , I watched the show too, and loved the music, both the exquisite Sarabande in the intro, and the lovely, equally haunting Våren in the end-credits. Edvard Grieg was so amazing. He composed some of the most beautiful music ever.
(There is an entire episode of the show online somewhere, and after watching it again I realized that my childhood admiration was not misplaced: the acting really was as good as I remembered, too.)
@JasmineJean89 I have to apologize to you and everyone else who enjoys this song... we destroyed it at festival... it didn't sound good at all, if you're familiar with the grading system at all we got 2's(which is the second best rating but my school has very high expectations since we were the lead school the year before)... and my solos weren't so good... After listening to this video... I just felt I should apologize
Incorporating the oil painting into the video with brush strokes, (signifing the strokes from the various stringed instruments) is ingenious! Nice to see more than one artform, in a single video. Kudos!
Soooo beautiful.

We played this with a Saxophone Chamber Orchestra when I was in college at UGA. A most beautiful work!
