BS!! I have been in twice for Nyepi - it was great & very relaxing BUT let's not forget how much all those needless scooters & old trucks pollute Bali EVERY OTHER DAY OF THE YEAR! Also, the rubbish people tip into their own waterways is just nasty and harmful. Try to do something about that before gloating about how much CO2 it saves. Nyepi is a religious day, not a day for the environment. There's a big difference. It's very relaxing but Bali is hardly 'green' on the other 364 days of the year!
hopefully the idea for date the "Global Silent Day" and this is just advice from my self for the date it will be same with silent day in Bali,24 hours,than all will be equalt(same)to all over the eart and the world with global silent,global safely,Stop all the global polution and stop the global warming),one love,one soul and one
heart,Peace,love and Harmony to all humand kind and to the universe.

No noise, no wasted energy, no lights at night. I sat on my balcony and watched the stars for the first time in years. No airplanes to confuse the array. It was actually great and should be done all over the world for at least one day. I am so glad I had this experience.
We have shut down our electricity for 1 day, we don't make any activities for 1 day we live in silence in 1 day.. It's your turn now. Please turn off your electricity on 28 March 2009 in 60 minutes, from 20.30 till 21.30, as simple as that to make a better world
orang bali jarang mempelajari teori keagamaan. namun, orang bali selalu patuh menjalankan apa yang sudah tersirat di dalam kehidupannya. bukan berarti tidak kritis, bukan juga karna bodoh. tetapi semata-mata hanya karena ingin selalu menjalankan apa yang sudah dijalankan oleh leluhurnya. Nyepi merupakan salah satu gerakan atau tindakan yang secara tidak langsung sudah mampu dipecahkan dan dilaksanakan sebelum bumi menderita pemanasan global. bumi membutuhkan tindakan riil, bukan teori.

This was my first time in Bali on Nyepi Day. As an American I did not know what to expect. It was the most peaceful and enlightening day for me in a very long time.
