  • Hey dutch subtitles, thats convenient :)

  • It's funny hearing Danny talk about the thicker drums he used. These days, his racks are rotos, and his floors are shelled along w/ his kick drums.

  • Eulogy from 1:48 - 1:58

  • @houseshoesbto nope stinkfist

  • @jib4jrc yeah your right still both have amazing tabalas parts in em

  • @houseshoesbto Aenima didnt have any tabla

  • @goodnamepending thats what his pads are when he puts sounds in the electronic brain of the pad, he can choose what he wants to have as that sound. He has a collection of sounds to choose from and he can apply them to those 4 pads and one setting is a tabla you can look up a tabla and stinkfist has the tabla part in them. Like at 1:48-1:58 that is tabla. He recorded the tabla parts on those pads not on an actual tabla, he only took lessons on a tabla

  • @houseshoesbto he didnt take tabla lessons till tool was on hiatus after Aenima was released, and the sound samples he uses don't sound like tabla at all, its a drum note with sustain that decays over time (in my opinion), but i do know for a fact he didnt use tabla samples or learn table till lateralus came around.

  • @goodnamepending All I know is he always took a liking to the indian sounding beats and groove not so much to the latin or cuban sounding sambas the sound reflection is the only song I know of in the lateralus early with actual tabla drums whatever only that can know this for sure is danny himself either way a godly amazing drummer playing in a fantasic band in a day in age where music just sucks dick

  • Danny is my favorite musician and the reason I've spent 3.5 years playing drums with great passion. You've done a great service to me by uploading this!!

  • 3:47 OOPS somebody messed up. does maynard sing or does adam scratch his guitar

  • i wonder how thick his shells were back then. it's so hard to find thick, sturdy shells that sound well these days, and they cost so much. everything nowadays is 6-7 mm, fuck that shit, wikipedia says danny's sonor kit has 1 inch thick shells on his 8' rack tom, and you can tell by the much more powerful and vigorous sounds they produce

  • @quisquefaber88 ive always wondered why his toms have so much power.. now i know heh.

  • Is it me or Maynard fucked up at 3:47? seems like he starts singing the chorus but backs off.

amazing find that one about Billy! definately him!

  • @JuditasDude Good fuckin' ear! That was definitely MJK... probably a little road weary.

  • @021467 Who can blame him right? touring must be exhausting

  • @JuditasDude Well, its a Soundcheck. Why would he go all out when the show is only a few hours away?

  • @KarsiaDave One thing has nothing to do with the other. I understand if he doesn't want to push his voice for a soundcheck, but here he fucked up THE STRUCTURE of the song, which has nothing to do with "the show being only a few hours away" or pushing his voice. I just pointed it out, I'm not bashing him at all, I just thought it was interesting. He's still an amazing singer and performer, but here he fucked up =) just like any human being on the planet can

  • did anybody notice that from 1:47 to 1:57 he was playing the intro to stinkfist??

  • @pyromatic77 No, that one is called Hush.

  • @RageSchism if that's what you think you hear, I can't argue with u.

  • does anyone knows the dial settings for his drums?

  • Check A Perfect Circle's Billy Howerdel working as guitar tech at 3:46

  • @Lele0Live That could really be any bald guy. haha

  • @AllYourFriendz nope, lelolive is right! Howerdel was their guitar tech then, but just look at him, def him.

  • @TOPHERHARPER Yeah, I actually remember reading about that now. Very long ago.

  • @TOPHERHARPER didn't he start off with NIN also?

  • ...and thanks for posting!

  • i was actually at this show back in 1996... drove from pittsburgh to columbus (newport music hall), opening band was psycotica, and tool of course was awesome. it was the first time i had seen them, justin's hair was shaped like two little horns, and maynard was painted blue if i remember correctly...

  • What is that tension measurement thing at 1:08 ?

  • @Thermingt0n search for Tama Tension Watch

  • @Justincog cool, thanks.

  • @Thermingt0n you're welcome
