Great interview. Dick Cavett is so annoying by always trying to be funny but he did ok with this interview. I loved when George basically said American TV sucks. I agree 100%. Love you George, PEACE !! !!
Thanks for uploading these 3 parts. It reminds me of a simpler time when music was much more interesting. Simple because I was still a kid and the world around me was much more friendly. I miss some of the real hippies.
haha i love how they had to bleep him out not once but twice frickin american television because of the bleep i didnt even catch what he said the first or the second time
lol george doesn't give a fuck about talking about business on tv. nowadays imagine how everyone would be shitting themselves with this kinda talk on letterman for example.
This interview got off to a very bad start; there seemed to be no rapport; George was giving monosyllabic answers, and Cavett talked too much... When Cavett asked about drugs near the end of Part 1, the whole interview got better; Harrison started giving thoughtful answers, and Cavett asked better questions...
In his 30 remaining years, George did a 1974 tour of North America, a 1991 tour of Japan and a few guest appearances, such as the Prince's Trust. When asked why he didn't perform at the London Live Aid show in 1985 he said "No one asked me!".
Thanks to MetrazolElectricity for posting these Dick Cavett interviews with George Harrison and , at the end, Ravi Shankar. I really appreciate the opportunity to see them and will watch again. Priceless experience.
2:45! Sue me! He rocks. Lennon said George purposely made "My Sweet Lord"s parts sound like "He's so fine" and got sued and had to pay the mpney...but was fine with it, because that's what he wanted to do with what the taxman left of The Beatles 93% surrender to the govt. for taxation. He knew even back then, and way before this interview that America is sue-happy. No wonder they loved Billy Holiday, Peggy...Sue
did anyone else catch that little reference to a song that would be released later on? when george was talking about the problems with releasing the bangladesh album, he said "we'll play the sue me sue you blues." if this interview was from 1971, it meant it was 2 years before living in the material world came out, which featured a song called "sue me sue you blues."
I'm suprised there are so little comments. George sticking up for English TV, being honest about drugs, just being an all round great guy with concerts for war torn people. Great Englishman. God bless him in Heaven.
@englandmadethewest You're not missing the first two parts are you? There are more comments on the earlier segments
George was a funny mofo. This interview cracked me the hell up. "Oh I've learned a great many things from the Lennons." He's so deadpan it kills me. And his impression of Paul was classic.

this cavett is such an inept interviewer; an irony that he managed to get all the greatest celebrities of the late 60's!!
sometimes the only interviews!!!

Gotta love British television!
