  • From her (unsuccessful) 4th album "Songs for the New Depression", I remember hearing this in the clubs. It's one of those cuts that came & went. But I always liked it. In fact, I bought the album in the "cut-out" stacks.

  • heehee those were the days..Bette still is incredible and really remains THE PERSON to see in person...how she can pull off a show like the Vegas one at her age!..she is a very disciplined woman

  • beautiful...

  • Bette Midles is a Diva.

  • By-the-numbers disco. It's not terrible, but far short of what you might expect of such a bright star on Atlantic Records, which according to legend never released a bad disco record.

  • The BEST disco song of the 70's IMO! I remember hearing this on the radio and thinking, 'I want to be HER'! LOL

  • simply the best version of `strangers in the night`!

  • How long have i waited it for this. I have not heard from since the 70s when i was little.

    Love it

  • Just found another one of my favorite disco songs along with this great one, Cher's Take Me Home, Bette's Strangers In The Night and Cher's Take Me Home, are two of the best disco songs from the 70's

  • I love the part in the song, when the back up singers go "WHOO!" that is so funny!

  • While I am listening to this song, I am imagining people partner dancing twisting and turning (REAL DANCING) and also doing the line dance version of the Hustle! WOW this song is fucking awesome, I can't get enought of it! I am also one of Bette Midlers biggest fans, (oh and by the way, I am a guy!) he he!

  • one thing that I love about this song, it makes you feel so happy, and makes you want to dance. OMG I LOVE THIS SONG! makes you want to "shake your groove thing" LOL I LOVE DISCO, the best music ever, it combines classical elements with the orchestra and dance together, a perfect combo! I am 26, and I think Hip hop and Rap shit of my generation needs to be put out of its misery.

  • DISCO NEEDS TO COME BACK, people need to have good times again! I am 26 years old, and my generation's music, clothes, ARE HORRIBLE. DISCO FOREVER!

  • G.R.A.N.D.I.O.S.

  • WOW! Fabulous years and music, and this song was one of the BEST!

  • Face it, we were better, we had better clothes, better cars & better looking girlfriends than those non club people, whom due to lacking social skills were sore loosers. DISCO 4 EVER...

  • You have made me start collecting again....these posts are out of this world!!

  • Beyond Marvelous! WOW!

  • I think David Lasley and Karl Hall, and Sharon Redd are singing background on this. Also Luther Vandross did the arrangement. Wow. Thanks for posting this!

  • along with Sharon Redd, the excellent background singers accompanying Bette are Charlotte Crossley, Merle Miller, and Robin Grean.

  • Wow, I was there and I forgot about it! LOL!!! I know that the boys were added later...so great to actually put this on it's feet for the tour. Great memories when B.M., was a delight to be with.

    Thanks for the response!

  • @StevesWifeCharlo wow Charlo you sound just as good as ever girl! man the first time I heard you sing with bette was back in 1975..Minskoff Theater April in Clams on the Half Shell New York...happy times think you joined by Sharon and Robin Grean? God Bless

  • I could barely believe my ears! Definitely brought tears to my eyes as this great disco song inevitably transported me to the best years of my life. The disco years. When I was young, good looking, and free of responsibilities! Thank you very much for the opportunity to listen to this, a song to rejoice the heart.

  • Agree...younger, better looking, free of responisibilities, and as for me 30 pounds lighter! Ha!

  • Love this disco version. Never knew Bette Midler covered this. Great orchestral production. Thanks for sharing.

  • This is a marvel. One of those very successful cases when old classics were turned into disco hits by highly talented, very professional arrangers, fine musicians and orchestras, and great vocalists. I swear to you that I didn't hear this one for at least 31 years! Along with many others, I still sing it every now and again! And can perfectly remember how I danced to it (this time I will add this fantastic composition to my disco collection)! Tank you very much, ClassyDisco.
